Serene n quiet. Next to the river and just a short walk to the hot spring. The air is fresh and cool. The host Khun On was kind and helpful that cooks up a delicious breakfast. They have 3 lovely dogs that can keep you occupied.

The staff are amazing. The lady that runs the place is so friendly and she makes a delicious breakfast. I stayed in 2 different rooms and both were great…clean and with good views of the mountains and surrounding area. I would definitely stay again if I was in the area.

We loved the view and the peacefulness of the location. The green lawn and amenities were amazing. The host was sweet and cared for us!
The average price per night for a 3-star hotel in Chiang Dao this weekend is $55 or, for a 4-star hotel, $40. Looking for something even fancier? 5-star hotels in Chiang Dao for this weekend cost around $230 per night, on average (based on Booking.com prices).
Welcoming little town well worth visiting. The temple and the caves are great but the best thing for me was that I stumbled into a bar up near the cave which is called . . The Cave bar. This place has to be visited if at all possible. Wonderful hostess and a really chilled, funky vibe.

Not touristic at all, and the local people not friendly.
Not touristic at all, and the local people not friendly.
Not recommend for solo travelers especially women. The treat very primitive.
No way to travel without scooter. There aren't taxi or bicycle available.
The nature around nice, also the caves. The mountain at night stunning.
The hot spring nice but not a big deal..
Nest 2 restaurant very recommended.
There is a realy nice Thursday market between 5-8 pm
Don't take more than 3 days There and don't expect to nice hospitality..

So if you'd like to get off the beaten track somewhat the Chiang Dao, the 1 hour bus ride north of Chiang Mai might be just the ticket. Nestled next to soaring, cloud-wreathed peaks, the pace of life slows down, there's interesting caves to explore, a riverside hot spring and Tuesday covered market.

We ended up staying 3 nights from the original 2 nights. There are a lot to see and explore. We didn't even go to the cave. There is a hot spring not far from town but the smell is too strong for me. Another one is Pong Arng hot springs, part of the Pha Daeng National Park, some 30km out from the bus station. Tickets are 100 baht for foreigners adults, 20 baht for Thai nationals which also admit you to the Sri Sangwan Waterfall some 5-6 km from there. The longan plantations as far as eyes can see, and the mountains view as the sun sets are just beautiful. You may get "lost" in some picturesque cul-de-sac temples or villages which you will never regret!

Chiang Dao is a lovely place to be with nature.
Chiang Dao is a lovely place to be with nature. The hot springs are a highlight, and many accomodations offer a view of the awesome Doi Luang.
From Chiang Mai the route is very simple and close enough to be comfortable (about 1hr30mins).
It's a great place to relax, reconnect with nature, maybe hike.
If I ever came back to Chiang Dao I would stay here again. Ked is an above and beyond host. She took us to the market with her one day, helped us rent motor bikes and dropped us off at the bus station- very kind.
The resort feels like a little slice of paradise in the valley. It is off the main highway, but you wouldn’t know it once you step onto the property. The huts are in great condition and spotless. The pool was refreshing. I would recommend breakfast there in the morning as well.
This was our favourite place to stay in Thailand. It was so quiet and lovely to have such wonderful views when you wake up on the morning. The man at the hotel couldn’t do enough to help us. He sorted us motorbikes which were really useful for getting around. Laundry was also done for us at the hotel. The cabins are lovely and well maintained. The noodle bar down the road is excellent. There were also tortoises to watch and a lovely area to sit outside the cabin. We loved our stay here.
Noi (the host) was exceptionally kind and wonderful. I felt like I was at home. The hostel was always clean. It is a small hostel and not very busy so I made friends with everyone who stayed or passed through there.
Chiang Dao has been the kindest place I've stayed in all of Thailand. I loved every minute of my time here. And I would highly recommend Chiang Dao Center Hostel to everyone!
A few month ago, My partner and I had stayed Ashi Guesthouse for our first time visit Chiang Dao, WE enjoy our time very much in Jack's Room. This is a second time that I am booking a room for my parents anniversary and they had such a great weekend away at Ahi Guesthouse. Thank you so much for Khun Oil and her staffs who made everything so wonderful for my parents.
The room is traditional Lanna type, very beautiful and clean. At night, we can see a lot of stars in the sky, unforgettable view! And the host is very hospitable, and knows everything about Chiang Dao. The places he recommended us to visit are all fantastic. Also the breakfast here is delicious too. Very good accommodation, we will definitely come back again
Lovely hostel nearby the Main Street and bus station of Chiang Dao. The staff are very friendly and can organise a scooter rental for you, which makes it easy to get around to the different sites. The grounds of the hostel are so peaceful with many places to chill out, including the hammocks! The beds are really comfortable and they provide free towels.
This is a very private spot as there are only 3 rooms. wonderful location. The man who worked there was very quick to communicate with me prior to our arrival and assisted us with getting there since we did not have our own vehicle. The setting is fantastic. The restaurant/cafe is wonderful. We hope to return on our next trip to Thailand.
Perfect accommodation for a short stay. The room was very comfortable although the furniture were a bit old but that did not bother us as we thought it made our stay in that little town even more charming! The hotel offers motorbike hire and laundry and the staff is very helpful even if their english is limited
Really friendly, laid back and well located guest house. The view from the veranda is stunning with the limestone mountains rising directly in front, covered in dense jungle. A small supermarket opposite and some dining options scattered along the main road, this great hotel is walking distance to the caves.
Beautiful place to stay compared to the more basic options in Chiang Dao. Huge property, nice dogs that greet you, a camp fire every night. Excellent strawberry jam at breakfast the boss makes herself. They also put out fruits and tea for any time of day, and can make espresso coffees for a little extra.
This is a beautiful location and a very peaceful place. I stayed here once before and it's why I chose it again during my visit to Chiang Dao. The owners are friendly and attentive with good English skills. The breakfast is bountiful and very good.
Beautiful, relaxing property with a river running alongside it! One of the nicest hostels I have ever stayed in. The hosts were very kind and even called in a mechanic when our motorbike (which we rented from a separate company) got a flat tire!
The only thing wrong was that it said that there are bikes for rent on website, and they aren't. We were only in Chiang Dao for two days, had to go into town looking for a bike to rent, wasting half a day (also we ended up getting ripped off).
The location is great with wonderful views of the mountain. Access to the pool. The hotel grounds were beautiful, especially at night. The staff were very helpful.
