I have been to Ubud many times now over the last 20 years.
I have been to Ubud many times now over the last 20 years. It has become quite busy, gone are the days when there actually wasn't anybody there. Nevertheless it still a welcome change from the Kuta, Legian and Seminyak areas. There are many wonderful places to visit in Ubud and the surrounding provinces.

Unlike its reputation as a chill, artistic retreat (which it was 20 years ago when we last visited), Ubud is now just a noisy and overcrowded city with awful traffic! I never thought I would say these words, but Legian/Kuta are quieter and more chill than Ubud! I won't return in future trips. If it's the waterfalls or ATV tours etc. you're after, these can all be done as a day trip from somewhere else.

Ubud is a very pretty and interesting place, but has become a very popular destination and is extremely crowded and busy.
This is good for the locals, but expect a lot of traffic both on and off the road.
Accommodation is everywhere but really do your homework, otherwise you may find it difficult getting to.
I would never discourage people making a choice, but strongly suggest investing your options.

It a lovely place close to nature and monkeys.
It a lovely place close to nature and monkeys. One plan to stay here while making trips further up north for dolphin watching and Jeep rides without having to wake up too early and still return in time for lunch and have time for other activities back in Ubud in the afternoon. There really plenty things to do in Ubud and nearby. The view of the paddy fields is simply relaxing to the mind.

The food quality in the restraunt was excellent, some of the best food I had in Bali (even better than food served at other 5 star resorts). Staff, particuarly staff at the front desk were very friendly and helpful and arranged everything that we needed without a fuss. Villa was very nice, large bedroom, beautiful outdoor bath and nice airconditioning, lovely pool and the hotel was fairly close to the main town. Shuttle bus into main town was very good.
Very good breakfast included everyday. The facilities were clean and the staff was amazing! Very intimate feel while staying at the resort as staff was very attentive to our needs/questions. Private pool in our villa was fantastic for after a long hot day. Taxi/Grab was very easy to get around and the hotel had a free shuttle to bring us to and from Ubud Central when needed. Would highly recommend for honeymooning couples or families.
We travel extensively and have stayed in many different hotels over the years, and Sweet Orange ranks as one of the best. A calm and serene oasis in the midst of hectic Ubud. Everything about it was exceptional. The hospitality, the room, the pool, the food...this is a special place at an amazingly great value. If you don't mind being a few minutes walk or moto away from the "action", this is your place in Bali.
The rooms were very spacious and clean! I stayed in the forest view room the night/morning we arrived since we came early at a prorated price. The next day, we were moved to the villa and the room exceeded all expectations! The staff were extremely accommodating and helpful. They catered to my every need. I would absolutely stay at here again. It was better than the 5 star resort I went to after leaving Ubud.
Fantastic hotel. Staff very friendly and helpful. Food was amazing (presentation, flavours, everything top). Location and views were stunning. This was one of the best hotels we have ever been to. We stayed in a private villa with pool, very spacious, very well maintained and designed with extraordinary view on the jungle. Don't have doubts, this hotel is expensive, but well worth the money.
It's a nice boutique hotel to stay for a few days while enjoying Ubud. The villa interior is modern and very inspiring, we enjoyed our Villa 15. Staff is super fast with any requests. The food in the restaurants was good, we enjoyed breakfast and dinner. Also went to the spa with the whole family, and had a good massage there. There are a lot of nice places to see around the hotel.
The best you can stay in Ubud area. The breakfast is excellent and covers all tastes. The staff is polite and willing to serve you. The facilities are around the mountain and the river in the nature. The spa and the team are experts. We stayed two people in the villa with private pool and mountain view. I highly recommend it! Thanks for the perfect stay Royal Pita Maha !
We stayed at Village, it was beautiful, impressive, with private pool, two big bedrooms, main bathroom amazing with bathtub outside, plenty of space and all the decoration superb, felt like sleeping inside a Temple. Ubud art is really good!! Extremely recommend this hotel, the service is top.Location is also very convenient, 300m walking distance from central market.
The best part of our 5 night stay in Ubud.
We stayed in the deluxe with private pool.
It was a comfortable stay, lovely waterfall sounds to drown out the noisyness of ubud. Complimentary water refilled daily.
Delicious breakfast was served on the villa patio, the staff were amazing and super responsive on WhatsApp, We also enjoyed a lovely massage on the patio.
lovely place outside ubud in the middle of the Jungle. we stayed in the villa with private pool, which may be the smallest of all but you will be all by yourselves when you go for a swim. at night you hear nothing nur the noises of the jungle.
the hotel staff is the nicest we‘ve ever met.
food not haute cuisine but absolutely fine.
The Villa itself is beautiful and very clean with private pool all to ourself. Kadek took care what we need promptly. We send our laundry everyday and got it back sameday cleaned and pressed and its cheap too. Wayan, her brother being a tour guide can also give good advice. We're happy with their friendly and bubbly attitude.
Worst hotel or villa breakfast ever. Location was misrepresented as not far from Ubud city center. It was very far w 30 mins of cab ride.
Almost everything about the room and the property was misrepresented in Booking.com photos & narrative.
Our "Deluxe Suite" was 1 Bedroom w window next to door facing wall after 6 ft
Amazing deluxe villa with private pool and outdoor bathroom/living spaces. Friendly staff, very prompt service including free shuttles into Ubud centre. The free breakfast was a bonus - it could be ordered to the Villa or in the restaurant at any point in the day. The resort is best for those wanting a tranquil escape.
The main building room was ok but there was a construction work so it was noisy. The hotel upgraded us to villas. Villas are excellent with private pool. Internal design is also very calming. The restaurant where the villas located is very nice with delicious breakfast and dinner. Staff are very kind, helpful.
This property is amazing. Our villa had a private pool with the most incredible view. Plus the included breakfast was just the best, with multiple options and great coffee. We also enjoyed that the hotel was not in the thick of it all, and instead was in a serene spot still close to the Ubud town centre.
Everything! Staff was very prepared and treated us excellent. The breakfast is awesome, amenities are all excellent too.
The pool area is beautiful, and private villas are like living in a dream!
One of the best hotels I've been!
Congratulations to all the staff!
The staff were the most attentive and polite I have ever encountered in a hotel - 5 stars! Good breakfast in a lovely setting. Located slightly outside of Ubud, which for us was a bonus as it was very quiet and peaceful.
Villa with Private Pool - the resort offers all the benefits you could want - excellent accomodation, good food, and even a free shuttle into Ubud - the staff could not be more attentive - 5 star property
