When we arrived the very happy friendly owner gave us an upgrade to a bigger room as he had a cancellation. So we had the garden room. It was really nice and modern and had illy coffee for the machine! The bed was mega comfortable and there was a sofa and TV for chilling. It was only 200m from the centre of town so we could wander down and stumble back later on. You can also pop out to Dartmoor in 10mins drive. Overall felt very happy and relaxed when we left.

I had the most wonderful stay and Eddy was an amazing host.
The place exceeded all my expectations and the facilities as well as being a central location in the town was comfortable and very quiet and relaxing.
If you are visiting Tavistock and the surrounding area (including Plymouth) then this is the place to stay.

An ideal size - could all be done on foot but with enough dining and drinking choices. Handsome architecture of local stone and granite. We recommend the Pannier Market (historic, with interesting stalls including unusually good second-hand books, and all under cover). I live close to the center of Tavistock and was on a trip while I sorted things at home. Sometimes it is good to detach from the absolute familiar. Tavistock is a quiet, dreamy place in the main but has some night life centering around restaurants and take aways . The remaining public houses generally provide a warm welcome with a range of facilities across the board. Shopping: a good range of supermarkets, independent stores and franchises. Leisure pursuits are various in and around the town. It remains a satellite to The City of Plymouth however, with an other worldly quality. Not a suburb. Any recommendations would be biased.

Tavistock is a mysterious Dartmoor Market town, with people from all walks of life making the most of its rural and ancient history. There are many places to eat and drink, quirky and interesting. The indoor market was voted the best in its class several years ago. I beleive it's even better now, with modern accessible toilets. There is a really good Weatherspoons large and quirky in places where you can relax for hours with very affordabel ales.......................Or coffee, freee refills. Besides other eateries including the historic Church which serves coffee and cake on certain days. The Church has become a main hub for visitors encouraging a friendly community spirit for all those who value trust, honesty and friendship. Some of the locals tell a very good tale or two!!AlanUnited Kingdom

The owner couldn't have been any nicer when I arrived, spending time showing me around and explaining where everything was. The location is right in the heart of Tavistock. So everything is all within a short walking distance. The room was lovely with the most comfortable bed I think I have ever slept in. Sandra also gave us extra advice about visiting the area. Good cooked English breakfast and generous size home cooked evening meal. Room was fine for a few days stay. Highlight of the stay was a tour of the farm including the sheep and cows in all the fields and the goats shed where there was also a nest of swallows. Beautiful peaceful location with great personal service, nothing like a chain hotel.

We were pleasantly surprised to find our room ready for us when we arrived 3 hours early than check in time which eased a lot of stress for us. The room was clean, beautiful and very comfortable. The communal areas are all fine - our bedroom No 24 was perfectly adequate though very hot. A fan had to be used the entire time. Breakfast was good and delivered with a smile.
