We were welcomed with popsicles when we arrived. Our room was massive, clean and had all the updated appliances. There was a private patio with a sun bed as well. The staff were incredible welcoming, friendly and helpful. They made the bed everyday, sometimes even twice a day, and they had all the mosquito repellents in the room and even replaced the mosquito lamps, incense and more (although we had no issues in the room probably because of that!). Breakfast selection was amazing and delicious. It was also really fun to watch the train go by in the morning during breakfast. Pool was clean and was really nice to dip in to escape the heat. Super convenient location, just walk across the railway tracks and you’re at the beach. There’s 24 hour security to open the gates for you no matter what time you come back. We started our trip here and it has been so hard to live up to those expectations. It is probably the best hotel we’ve ever stayed in.

Owners are warm and welcoming. Breakfast was fresh and delicious on the outdoor patio on the water. They have their own Tuk Tuk and boat to take you into town or across the water to the beach. The room and bathroom were large and very comfortable. The owners also drove us back to Colombo to catch our flight home. I would definitely recommend this hotel.

The property was beautifully and perfectly maintained by the staff members. Every single view from a standing position was so picturesque and was a breathtaking scenery. The staff members are well mannered and very kind to show us the great work of Geoffrey Bawa. We were able to experience the beauty of the guest house, the landscape, and the art works in the property.

Chami, the owner of the Villa and Rathur were so kind in helping us with organizing for us different tours and facilities. Rathur has taught me surfing🏄‍♀️ I had two classes with Rathur and on the second one I was already confidently surfing.😍 The team has supported whatever request we had. We have traveled with family and with elders and all our family really liked the Villa and the team and their support. The rooms were very clean, which was important for us. And the Villa was located in such a good location that there was a sea food restaurant exactly behind the villa. It was very near to the market 5 minute with tuk tuk 🛺 or 10-15 minute by foot. It was near to the train which is good in case one wants to travel around by train. The beach was very clear and very near to the villa, just 10 minute walk and if you ask Rathur, he will show the shortest way to there as well. The most importantly the beach was exactly what I was expecting for swimming.

This Ayurveda retreat is a gem , we liked the treatments that are done under supervision from specialized doctors, the authentic healthy food, the staff , and the Yoga . And the acupuncture treatments as well. we went there with chronic pains and left with much better state of body and mind . Sisi's place was fantastic, it was pretty much right on the beach and they've fitted it out with everything you could need or want. The bed was super comfy (comfiest pillows we've had the whole trip), they had hanging racks both inside and outside on the balcony to dry any swimming gear, and they had chairs and tables both inside and on the balcony (which had a great view of the train tracks and to the sea). The fridge was so handy, there was a wardrobe, and a dresser/mirror, the room and balcony were so spacious, they had both a fan and and air conditioner which worked great! The room was so clean. The bathroom was great and they also had a squeegee which is an awesome touch with the open shower (hot water works not that you need it). Both hosts were so lovely, and the breakfast was delicious. We also got a lift to and from the turtle sanctuary for a great price. Honestly one of the most comfortable places we stayed. Also a great location. Can't recommend it enough.

We had an amazing stay at Villa Maria. We had just booked for one night, which we changed to two nights as soon as we arrived. Built to a very high standard with big modern rooms of 5* quality with big terraces. Great WIFI connection and speeds.

    Stayed at Thaala Bentota recently and had a pleasant experience. The location is excellent—right by the beach with easy and direct access, making it perfect for a relaxing getaway. The hotel itself is well-maintained with a calm and welcoming atmosphere. The breakfast buffet was a highlight, offering a good variety and fresh options. Dinner buffet had fewer choices in comparison, but the quality was still decent and satisfying for the price.     We stayed at Janus Paradise restaurant cabanas it was fabulous food was amazing lovely clean rooms , staff extremely helpful . Food was delicious, pool clean , we arrived during the Sri Lankan new year and was given a beautiful meal for breakfast , it was just lovely. Hotel owner Janus very nice and came to sit with us during our evening stay had a great laugh together what a wonderful host

    We arrived after 4 days travelling and adventuring so were ready for a relaxing break. We enjoyed the pool at our hotel and swimming in the sea. It was a beautiful few days spent in a beautiful place. We had dinner one night at Catamaran and sat on the beach with a great mojito watching the sunset - grilled seafood was amazing. We walked the beach every day and it was so nice and we weren't bothered by people selling things. We even saw mama turtle tracks which was exciting!

    Very serene, clean,natural beach. Only nature loving tourists there No crowd no hooligans Can have uninterrupted long walk, workouts yoga, any thing you woul like todo in a clean and serene natural spot.

    The friendly and ever smiling staff everywhere make you happy. The room is very comfortable. Good sleep. Hoped if the sunrise was delayed !!!. The food was excellent. Obviously with a Cinnamon Brand hotel there is very little or nothing to complain. You can relax the way to wish. Although you pay a premium price it is fully worth as you return back happy.

    I was disappointed that no real bacon (pork) was served for breakfast. Disgusting bacon made from chicken was available which was hard as ever and awful taste. Other than this the breakfast was ok. The beach was below average due to river water. The hotel is right in front of the river mouth meeting the sea and debris and pollution (plastic bottles and cans) were washed on to the beach area. The beach away 1 to 2 km's either side was much better and enjoyed the beach and sea swim.

    What a great start to our holiday in Sri Lanka. Wasantha & Nishanthi are wonderful hosts, their kindness, smiles & sense of humour made us feel at home. We had a fun time cycling around Bentota and the local area on their push bikes. The guesthouse is across the road from the beach which is an added bonus. We have been in Sri Lanka for five weeks and can say that Nishanthi’s breakfasts are by far the best - a great introduction to Sri Lankan food. We will certainly recommend the guesthouse to all our friends & family.

    The best place I stayed during my 2-week holiday in Sri Lanka. The place was very clean and the AC worked perfectly. It's very close to the beach. The host is really nice; she takes care of you as if you were part of her family. She even welcomed me into her kitchen for lunch when I arrived in pouring rain and couldn't go out to a restaurant. Delicious and huge breakfast, with lots of fruit, toast, eggs, and homemade sweets. Excellent value for money.

    Wonderful homestay in Bentota. Olander and his family greeted us and responded to every request. Big clean room with balcony. Short walk to the fantastic local park and beach and Bentota train station. Best Sri Lankan breakfast with enough fruit for the whole day as a wealth of birds and chipmunks entertained us in the garden. Learned something about Sri Lankan culture and family life. Best way to immerse ourselves in our first stay in Sri Lanka.

    Food was great, the pool and the access to the quiet beach near by were also excellent. So many facilities in the hotel and there are 4 restaurants in the hotel of which we got to try the thai and the riverside cafe (for breakfast) both had excellent food quality . Overall this was the most comfortable stay we had in our trip to Sri Lanka.

    Lovely location overlooking the river and a short free boat ride provided to access the wonderful Bentota beach. Nuwan and Dinesha are great host and cooked a lovely Sri Lankan breakfast (and omelette for the kids) every morning. Family apartment on top floor was very spacious and perfect for us.
