Darwen is my home town so it would have been nice to stay a little longer in order to catch up with a few more friends and family. This is the first time we have stayed at The Whitehall but it won’t be the last. The breakfasts were a farce , no supervision of staff , a manager was no where to be seen. They ran out of several basics and the food on the buffet was stewed and dried up. No bowls and the waitress thought muesli was the same as granola. Fawty towers springs to mind!!!!

A good traditional hotel. Helpful friendly staff. Good breakfasts. Our standard room with bathroom was absolutely fine, really clean and with all facilities, but a little small, should have booked a bigger room. Nice bar and lounge area. Lovely terrace and gardens, had it been summer.

The pub itself is fantastic - the road to it is not.
The pub itself is fantastic - the road to it is not. Careful driving is needed and a small car a good thing. Unusually though, it has a train station right below it (request stops) so you wouldn't need to travel by car. Dogs are very well catered for.
