Le Pont d’Avignon was built in the Middle Ages and, according to the legend, a young shepherd called Benezet was inspired by angels to build the bridge. The children’s song "Sur Le Pont D'Avignon" is now famous all over the world.

Really loved our week in Avignon and could easily have stayed 2 weeks. The main tourist attraction is the Palais des Papes but there are other things going on if you can only find them - publicity in small French towns is often not great. We found a classical concert at the Conservatoire, and there's the Opera house, and several neglected art places: Grenier a Sel art space, Collection Lambert (modern art). Several smallish municipal museums, which have free admission. It's well-connected by rail to several other interesting towns. Overall pleasant, relaxed feel and very walkable.

I’m not happy about leaving a bad review, but I have to share honest feedback to be fair to future travelers. This place was not at all what we hoped for! The neighborhood is not clean and doesn’t seem safe. There’s very limited parking on the street, so I recommend getting there no later than 17:00, as you’ll have to park really far or pay extra 20 euros for their private garage. The first bedroom was musty and had a strange odor. The blankets on the beds seemed very old. The linen didn’t match and neither did the curtains. There were stains on the couch. The dish sponge was old and dirty. The beds were very uncomfortable, hard as if it was just a board. The door to the second bedroom had a big brown stain on it. The worst part was the shower, so much mold everywhere, it smelled bad, couldn’t use it! Stay away!

I liked the city, with Palais du Papes etc, but also the surroundings. I travelled in bus to Pont du Gard, St Remy de Provence (van Gogh area!) and southern part of Parque Natural Régional du Luberon, all very exciting places.

Lovely ancient town, where you wish you could step into the past to see how it all was in the old days.
What I found sad to see, was quite a few (especially) French poor people, apparently living on the streets

Well worth a visit .
Well worth a visit . It still reflects the mediaeval days of the Popes, but has splendid modern shops, a great market and a whole spectrum of good restaurants and is small enough for old people like us to cope with

We loved walking around and just taking in the feel of it all. We took a wine tour and loved driving through the villages and beautiful country side. Avignon takes you away from the big cities fir a real taste of France.
A very old, comfortable, small, charming hotel in the heart of old Avignon. The location was ideal for exploring the sights. We were welcomed as soon as we arrived, offered a map and detailed information about the local area, including advice on places of interest to visit and restaurants. This made us feel valued and relaxed. The restaurant recommendations were excellent, we ate well.
The room was comfortable and very clean, the bathroom was small but clean and adequate for a few nights stay.
This hotel is right on the main street of Avignon so it was easy to get to from the train station and right in the middle of restaurants and tourist sites. there are about 2 steps at the entrance and a small flight to the lobby about 5 steps. This might be a problem for wheelchairs. Normally we would have loved the rooms, they appeared to be recently decorated, quite roomy for european standards and the rooms we were shown were spotlessly clean.
The staff, in particular Philippe! Incredible welcome and front of house facilities including free teas, coffee, library, social area...
The breakfast was the best we had in two weeks. Philippe went out especially to get some delicious gluten free bread for me. Boil your own eggs. Something for everyone. Thanks so much for that, France is tricky for people with allergies :-)
We'd come back!
One of my favourite stays in France. The lobby/reception area was quite lovely and there were a few friendly cats casually hanging around as well. The hotel was superb and had comfortable beds. It was also located close to all the attractions; everything was within walking distance. Also, be sure to visit the Irish Pub right on the corner as their food was brilliant.
Great location right in the heart of Avignon. Breakfast was wonderful, so French, but great... some of the best croissant I've ever had! You can walk straight out of this hotel to the main square of Avignon and eat into the night, then only a few metres away is the Palais des Papes.
Room was quirky but suitable. Staff were very helpful and friendly.
We felt at home. The staff was very nice to us and the kids, who did not want to leave at all. The restaurant at the hotel is very convenient and the food is good. Big pool in a garden. There was no noise from the airport.
If ever we will travel to Avignon again, we will come back.
Thank you for the nice experience!
The breakfast was amazing! They had yogurt and fruit, pastries, cheese, cured meats, bread and jam. They also had a selection of teas and the best coffee in France. The accommodations were lovely very well decorated and 2 of the sweetest cats. It was also conveniently located between the train station and downtown.
Reception staff were helpful, the room was comfortable and the availability of laundry facilities for guests was a bonus. The bus into Avignon is very close and is cheap to use, while the hotel is within walking distance of the TGV station (the reason for our booking this facility)
I loved the location of this hotel! It was within walking distance of everything in Avignon. The bed was very comfortable with ample pillows. The staff was friendly and accommodating and the breakfast buffet was delicious. I would definitely stay again!
Unique luxury in the heart of Avignon. I stayed an extra noght to enjoy the peace and quiet, with the champagne left by the host, reading the reviews of the Avignon Festival. Stephan drove me to the TGV station… Perfect service. Perfect atmosphere.
We loved everything! The room was large and spacious. The location was great. The hotel itself is beautiful, the old and the new, really felt “French.” We would go back in a heartbeat. Walking distance to all of the wonderful sights of Avignon,
Amazingly helpful staff, Stephan has helped us for reservations in Avignon but also for our further trip to South of France. Attention to detail and human touch. Also location of the property is very good for discovering Avignon.
The hotel was in a convenient location about 10 minutes walk from both the train station and city centre. The room was clean and came equipped with a small kitchenette. Would recommend as an affordable place to stay in Avignon.
Beautiful gem of a small boutique hotel right in the old centre of town. Interesting building, redone with modern amenities, wonderful helpful hosts who made our stay in Avignon very special!
Large hotel next to the city wall of Avignon; spacious rooms with bedroom and living room; our room was upgraded to garden view, as there was a contruction on the street side.
