Holiday Inn Express Inverness, an IHG Hotel, hotel in Inverness

Holiday Inn Express Inverness offers modern accommodations, free parking, and an inclusive buffet-style breakfast. It is within 30 minutes’ drive of Loch Ness, Culloden Battle Field and Cawdor Castle....

We were just here for one night prior to flying out of Inverness. The hotel is only a few miles from Inverness airport. The front desk staff kindly made us a reservation for dinner at the Snow Goose restaurant next door (not affiliated with this hotel). The room was small but adequate for just one night. Plenty of plugs/charging ports. Buffet breakfast was good, better than expected and way better than the Holiday Inn Express at Glasgow airport.

Beaufort Hotel, hotel in Inverness

This family-run hotel is half a mile from Inverness Train Station and the shops of the center of the city. It has free parking, a bar and a restaurant serving modern Scottish cuisine.

Booking was non-refundable. Upon check-in, I was advised that there was a birthday party that night and they would turn off the music by 1145 pm. We booked a room with two beds-got one bed. Shower sounded like a freight train as there was clearly an issue with the plumbing. Bath tub enclosure fell off showing obvious signs of attempted repair. We slept with windows open because the room was so hot. I would not recommend this hotel.

Firstly if you are Booking on here check the post code. At the time we travelled it was wrong. A phone ☎to the hotel got the correct one which put us 6.5 miles away. The correct one is IV5 7PX. We checked in with the assistance of Jules, who turned out to be superwoman. She served great 🍺, then evening meals making us feel relaxed. Then we had a good breakfast and yes you guessed served by Jules. Her service made a good over stay more memorable. Many thanks from all four of us.

FAQs about hotels in Inverness

Gateway to the Highlands and Loch Ness

A jewel with historic buildings and charming streets, Inverness is surrounded by a typical Scottish Highland landscape. It is located 10 km from Loch Ness, along the mouth of the Ness River and the Moray Firth coast. It is regarded as the northernmost city in the United Kingdom, and capital of the Highlands.

Take a walk around the Old Town, visit St Andrew’s Cathedral, and make a stopover in the charming Victorian Market. The Old High St Stephen's Church is the oldest building in town, and has been a religious site since pre-Christian times.

The Inverness Castle overlooks the river and is nowadays the seat of the Sheriff Court. A hotel in Inverness city centre is ideal to enjoy the different cultural and recreational activities in town.

Watch the Atlantic salmon jumping out the river near the Ness Islands, and try to catch a glimpse of the famous monster of Loch Ness. The Cairngorms National Park is 40 km away, and Chanonry Point is the best spot to watch dolphins, just 24 km away.

Inverness hotels include a large offer of small, cosy guest houses, B&B’s, and rural cottages, allowing a closer contact with the nature. Don’t miss the Inverness accommodation deals on Booking.com!

Lovely city with some really beautiful parts.

Lovely city with some really beautiful parts. Clearly a seedy side (there was a major assault not 50m from our door on one night!), which is true of any city, but Inverness is small enough for it to feel cheek by jowl with the nicer parts. Great range of places to eat and things to do. Easily walkable to everywhere.

It’s a surprisingly small down that feels a bit empty in the day - mostly comes to life at night with all the live music in bars. For tourists, seems mostly a stopping point en route to Loch Ness rather than a destination of its own.

Easy to get to city whether travelling by road, rail, bus and air (air port slightly out of Inverness). We travelled by train and we had lunch in the Ash Restaurant next to the railway station as we had time to kill before we got into our apartment and food was excellent. We also visited the Palace hotel for afternoon tea which was also good. Plenty of eateries, pubs and shops

Inverness is perfect for a holiday where you want to prioritize gentleness, quiet, & rest but balanced with time outdoors & access to general amenities (restaurants, pubs, historic sites, etc). Ease of access to the rest of the highlands (and numerous day tour options for the Isle of Skye) are a definite plus for those wanting to go further afield.

We traveled all over Scotland on our holiday on the train so for that the location was perfect step out of station next step into the hotel. Room cosy it was advertised at, very small would be more realistic especially for the price we paid, if it had been £100 cheaper for the 3 nights we stayed i'd have been happy but it was the least value for money of all the 5 hotels we stayed in on our holiday, it was clean etc no issues there. We didn't eat in the hotel spent our food money in the local witherspoons pub.

This is a lovely cottage adjacent to the River Ness in Inverness, yet it is private, peaceful & very well-equipped. It is ideal for a couple. We stayed for 2 nights as part of a road trip through Scotland & wish that we had been able to spend 4 nights, as the cabin is beautiful & well-equipped & there is lots to do in Inverness. Zoe, the owner, is WONDERFUL! She is smart, creative, informed & has a marvelous sense of humor! You will love your stay at Wee Ness Lodge.

I checked in bit latter than normal but Phil was there to greet me, he also kindly let me store my bike in his shed over night (very grateful as was in Scotland to cycle the Northcoast 500). The room was warm and cosy and clean and the rest of the house looked very smart and welcoming. The breakfast was all laid out beautifully with lots to choose from, hot and cold, there was also someone there to help serve the breakfast!

The owner was there to serve breakfast every morning with a smile (even on a day he went to the ER- shows his dedication). Small table big breakfast was his mantra and it was true. The room was great. Large bed and comfy shower for my 6 foot 4 partner. That's hard to find in Scotland! We were a short drive from the city. I believe buses were available, but taxis were prompt and cheap. Very quiet location.
