We stayed in the Wren room, which had the best bathtub I think I have every enjoyed. The inn keepers were extraordinarily friendly and made us feel right at home. The Nest is conveniently located a short distance from the South Downs Way.

A pleasant small market town with good facilities.
A pleasant small market town with good facilities. Within range of national Trust properties, and other towns like Minstead. Good road and rail connections, but watch out for the "average speed zones" particularly on the A272 !!

A charming village near the glorious South Downs.
A charming village near the glorious South Downs. We had difficulty finding somewhere to eat on the Sunday night but Ruby and Monty was a little gem of a restaurant (Italian - pizza/pasta) that accommodated us at short notice - they served the best salads and bruschetta I have ever eaten!

An old house steeped in history with the same family running it for seven generations. Very friendly greeting, all staff helpful, courteous and nothing was too much trouble. Breakfast was well prepared and well served, so nice to have quality linen on the tables. Quite rare these days.
It was a shame and disgraceful, that another party of guests were so rude to the staff which caused upset at breakfast.
A gem of a place to stay and we wished we could have stayed longer. Very comfortable bed, which makes all the difference for a good night's sleep.
The next village along the narrow road had a couple of nice eating places for an evening meal.

We stopped in Petersfield for lunch, briefly.
There had been a market earlier, which we sadly missed, they were setting up for an event in the main square which sounded interesting.
We did spend some time in the village of Buriton, wonderful walks, again, sadly not enough time. May have to return...

From the moment we arrived we were amazed how beautiful the barn was. Cosy, comfortable and designed to a high spec. It has everything you need to make you feel you are at home. We stayed over Christmas and was welcomed to a decorated tree which was a nice touch.
Close to pubs and supermarkets, although you need your car unless you are happy to walk about 40 mins to the nearest pub. We loved it so much we’ve booked again to stay in June.

Very poor service.
Very poor service. Receptionist rude and dismissive when I arrived. Not given the room I had booked. Barely space to walk around the bed. Bar and restaurant closed at 8pm. Mini bar not topped up. No Wi-Fi code in the room. Coffee machine didn’t work. One tea bag!!
Overpriced . Avoid.
Fab family run hotel, with a welcoming & accomodating team!
Located in a charming little village about 10 minutes from Petersfield station. (1 hour train from Waterloo)
It's been completely refurbished & they've done a great job on the interiors. Modern & clean with some old local charm.
Breakfast gets a 10/10 - we'll have to return to try the evening food.
We'll are looking forward to returning in September with our bridal party for our wedding weekend.
The Nest is a unique former village inn now refurbished to somewhere between a boutique hotel and a gastropub. The dozen or so bird themed rooms are not overdone and the decor is sleek and modern. (The Nest reopened this winter). We stayed midweek and had dinner, bed snd breakfast. This is a family run enterprise and it shows in the attention to detail and the pleasant hospitality shown by all the staff we met.
We were only there for a couple of hours as had planned on staying the night before as had tickets for good wood but sadly due to severe weather warnings it was cancelled so decided to drive back home so only made use of the room for about an hour .
Not The Troopers Inns fault but worked out very expensive paying for a hotel and fuel to then not to get to GoodWood .
A quiet little Inn away from all the commotion of the town/city. Friendly staff and an amazing little pub attached with delicious food! The room was very cozy and comfortable as well as very clean. The private bathroom was also very clean with fresh towels brought by every morning and a generously sized tub to soak in. Wi-Fi worked well in the area as well.
Very nice pub/inn on what was the old Portsmouth to London route. It's a bit outside of town, about 1.2 miles from the centre of Petersfield. I did expect that being on the A272 it would be noisy but that wasn't the case. The room was exactly as described with a comfortable bed, clean, good quality linen and a decent en-suite. Breakfast was very good too.
This was one of the most pleasant stays I have had in a hotel. The room was beyond my expectations and beautifully furnished and appointed. The staff made me feel at home from the moment I arrived. The building and setting were gorgeous. I am looking for an excuse to stay here again.
Stayed here for 1 night to attend a wedding at a venue up the road. The room was good, spacious, and clean, and the shower etc.. worked well. The bed was comfortable.
We ate both dinner and breakfast at the venue and would highly recommend the food made at the pub.
Loved the location, food and staff - so close to Petersfield which has evwry shop you might imagine just a 5/10min car ride away. Staff were excellent, very happy and helpful; suggesting port with cheese and sides of chips and generally being kind.
Comfortable bed and room, with lovely views over the beautiful garden. Friendly staff. Being able to stay in an historic family home run as an independent hotel. Special shout out to Laura and Val - nothing was too much trouble.
Felt like a home not an impersonal hotel. All requests were attended to by Chris who was the perfect host. The location was excellent, about a 10 minute walk from the main square.
Highly recommended.
Met Janet when we arrived. Made us feel very welcome. The house was very comfortable and had everything we needed. If I was holidaying in the area again I certainly would check if it was available.
Very friendly and informative host, easy to contact with prompt replies. The house is comfortable and cosy with comfy beds and large socialising spaces. Great location close to Petersfield.
The continental breakfast was good and plentiful.
Very short drive into Petersfield and well located for other places and sites of interest.
Friendly host.
