Cottage 2 New Yatt Farm, hotel in Witney

Cottage 2 New Yatt Farm is located in Witney, just 7.1 miles from Blenheim Palace and 14 miles from University of Oxford. The vacation home features both Wifi and private parking free of charge.

Once inside all was very clean and very much as advertised. The unit allows pets; so we were pleased to not be aware of any previous such tenants. A very well set up kitchen is supplied. The oil, alfoil, cling wrap, etc, etc were all appreciated. Lots of food prep equipment too. The oven trays were also valued. We are travelling across the UK for 9 weeks; so dining out frequently was not part of our travel budget. There was a Nespresso pod machine with many pods. We could not get the oven grill to work though. A queen sized and comfortable bed. But with very soft, fluffy and pretty to look at, but near useless pillows. Why not supply a mixture of pillow types (soft to firm)? The bedroom door cannot be fully opened and thus blocks access to one side of the bed. The nature of such farm conversions is thus evident; even though this project was high end. Hot water was only ok. Despite the system being quite large, the second of our two showers each night was one not to linger. Heaven help if you wanted to run a full bath. Does the tank thermostat need adjusting up? We could not work out how to turn the lights on over the bath. Nice, large and thick towels were noteworthy. The heated towel rail in the bathroom was also a god send in the days of showers, while we visited in late March. There is a user friendly thermostat downstairs that certainly could allow the whole unit to warm up. The rural quiet area was appreciated after a week in hectic London. The stay is a good base for self driving to Oxford and around the Cotswolds.

I used to live in Witney.

I used to live in Witney. Came back to London, where I was born & raised, 15 years ago but my father & children (err, all mid-late 30's) live in that area, so I visit regularly. Summer, The Fleece for lunch outside overlooking the Green. Taxi to Hailey since The Bird in Hand is special. There is the blanket museum because it's a bit of a give away that Witney has a wool exchange, a mill and a history! Plenty of walks & fresh air. Almost forgot, Roman ruins https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-oxfordshire-57510142

Witney is a great little town.

Witney is a great little town. Parking in West Oxon is free in all council car parks - a rarity these days. So many places to visit - Cotswold Wildlife Park & Gardens, Cogges Farm Museum, Blenheim Palace... it goes on. Many cafes, bars, pubs and restaurants in town. Independent shops in Witney and nearby villages/towns. It's just lovely.

Witney is a lovely little town, although the roads were very busy and noisy until you reached the quieter, traffic-restricted area in the centre. It has a wide range of places to eat and drink and a good selection of shops - chain and independent. We were very disappointed with the attitude of staff at The Plough, as we were refused a menu, even though others were ordering and eating, our drinks order wasn't completed fully and I was accused of being rude when I asked for both matters to be resolved. Needless to say, we didn't stay. San Marzano, just further down the High Street, was the complete opposite - food and service exemplary.

Witney was a stop to our air show destination. Pub, great.

Witney was a stop to our air show destination. Pub, great. Parking, not so. Restaurant menu over pretentious. Loved the welcome. Unfortunately lights within room not working/ useless, air .com unit didn't respond. No instructions for coffee machine. A lot of style over substance.

    Great place.

Great place. Very Central, close to Oxford, not too far from Stratford, and so on. Friendly, town. Could be a bit more friendly, can't say it's exactly Wholesome and Quint. But it is a nice old town with a good vibe of its own.

The centre of Witney is easy and pleasant to walk around, with a variety of shops, restaurants and cafes all easily accessible. There are frequent buses to Oxford (for colleges, museums, main railway connections, etc) and Woodstock (for Blenheim Palace). There is also a regular bus service across the Cotswolds to Cheltenham. Road access to Cotswold villages, walks and scenery is very good.

The location was beautiful, situated on the banks of the river Thames. Good walks from the hotel. It was easy to get to some of the attractions, ie: Cotswolds Wildlife Park, Millets Falconry Centre, Bourton-on-the-water. The breakfast was very good with a lot of choice. We had dinner there three of the nights and again the food and service was excellent.
