Ilfracombe was lovely for a short family trip. It has landmarks to visit, walks to go on, arcades, beaches, a strip of shops, restaurants parks, souvenirs and ice creams. The people she came across were friendly and the place seemed clean. A short drive away from a steam train, a big sandy beach and an amusement park/castle. Lots to do to keep the kids entertained. On arrival we walked into the town centre. As with a lot of coastal towns, it looked a little run town. Once you get to the harbour, things change. When the weather is lovely, Ilfracombe is great, although it’s sad to see how rundown it has become. it’s also sad to see so many properties empty and so many shops, That only seem to open for a few days a week. Down the harbour far to menu dogs fouling the pavements and the irresponsible owners are not bothered just leaving the mess on the footpath and walking away DISGUSTING. Fabulous period features with some sensible modernization, such as a new kitchen and upgraded bathrooms. Beautiful level gardens and plenty of parking. House furniture is also in keeping and the property comes with everything you could ever need for a holiday in Ilfracombe. It is outstanding and it’s the best accommodation we have experienced in Ilfracombe since we started coming here over 10 years ago. If you want to stay in a hotel then I would recommend The Carlton Hotel which is opposite across the road, it’s the best hotel in the area.
