Stayed several times in the last few months whilst working at the hospital in Bury St Edmonds. Nice rural location offering plenty of walks/runs. Very nice food, generally friendly staff. The larger rooms/suites (rooms 4 and 14) are very spacious and comfortable and there’s a lovely historic feel to the building overall.

Bardwell is a medium sized village completely surrounded by open countryside with an interesting church and old houses. It is well placed to reach the well known coastal spots such as Aldeburgh and Southwold as well as towns such as Cambridge Ely and Norwich and just a few miles from Bury St Edmunds (such an amazingly interesting place) and Newmarket, The food at the Six Bells in Bardwell was excellently prepared and presented - well worth a visit as it has a broad standard menu with specials certainly at weekends. The only problem was travelling on the M11 on a Bank Holiday - horrendous !!!!

The staff are really friendly and the food is amazing.
The staff are really friendly and the food is amazing. Lovely atmosphere and very peaceful. The place wasn’t too busy. The only issue we had was the cleanliness wasn’t great, the bathroom was not clean. However there was nothing that I couldn’t deal with and I’m sure if I had raised the matter with the staff they would’ve rectified it.

A lovely welcome, good room with comfortable four poster bed. Room was cool even in the 28 degree heat which was a bonus. Dinner was excellent, I can highly recommend 'Holly's cheesecake' ! Good size portions too. We had a couple of beers at the cozy bar, well priced. Breakfast was excellent with friendly service. Thank you for making our stay wonderful. A good place to chill, drink and eat.

The reception and bar area were so pleasant and relaxing.
The reception and bar area were so pleasant and relaxing. Large Chesterfield furniture to get comfortable in.
All the staff were helpful, attentive and extremely pleasant. We only stayed the one night, would gladly have stayed longer.
The furniture in both bar area, and dining area were well separated to allow for social distancing, lots of helpful visual management to help remind folk to social distance, plenty of hand sanitiser in place too.
WiFi not available in rooms, or very weak signal. If It’s a must for you, might be worth checking when booking.
Would definitely stay here again. Big thumbs up if you are wanting somewhere to relax, feel safe and want to sample a bit of Old England👍

Beautiful area, lovely pub with a fabulous history linked to Dads Army.
The room Are separate to the pub so you can come and go when you want.
It was comfortable, cute and rustic with comfortable beds.
The staff we met, the Thai wife of the son of the owner and the young woman who served us dinner, were very friendly and helpful, as well as efficient. The food was good: quality ingredients, well cooked ( we had breakfast and just one dinner). The inn is very attractive, with historic features, and the surrounding gardens very pretty. We liked the location out in the countryside in the picturesque village of Bardwell.
I loved the views you got from your hotel room, the fields one side, and the beautiful "courtyard" garden.
I liked that it had a traditional type pub eating area, aswell as a conservatory which was lovely and light when we had breakfast. It's a nice setting. Also all staff were lovely.
Conveniently close to Bardwell for a Wedding & Reception that I attended. Clean and Bed was very Comfortable and felt very private. I liked the Barn Conversion a lot
