St Austell is a run down and neglected town hard to navigate and not much to see. Charlestown is a delightful harbor with a good choice of restaurants and bars a bit of a shame that the harbor is being worked on but it has to be done. My friends and I only came to St Austell for the Eden...
My friends and I only came to St Austell for the Eden Sessions which is held at the Eden Project where top artists play live each year this year we saw Biffy clyro and the venue is an amazing backdrop with the biomes lite up at night the one place any music fan should visit . We wanted to visit the Eden project.
We wanted to visit the Eden project. This was the main reason for our visit. However there is a lot to do in this area especially when the weather is good. We visited Looe area. St Austell encompasses a vast array of villages both in land and coastal so a blanket review of 'St Austell' is meaningless. St Austell town has all the amenities you would need but cannot be said to be pretty. However the numerous coastal villages and country house and Eden Project make the area a good base. We felt very comfortable there. The staff were lovely and the pub great too, offering some nice local beers and a good crowd. We were able to leave our luggage at the hotel for the day which was super helpful! We walked from the hotel to the harbour in Charlestown where there were some nice bars and restaurants. Wi-fi worked well for me and I needed to work while there so that was very important. Nice location with 15 min walk into harbour where you could find a few nice restaurants to eat in. Would recommend The Longstore for dinner, The Cellar for drinks and The Boathouse for a nice lunch in the garden. Good size Tesco and Lidl 3 mins drive and Aldi and Asda close by too.
