The harbor view was beautiful! The owner Aaron and staff Costa and Lucy were amazing! They went out of their way to make sure we were happy in every regard. The shrimp pasta was very delicious, and my friend was given good GF options.

We were so pleased with the Porth Veor Manor Hotel. The staff were courteous and helpful. The hotel was clean. The room was comfortable. The breakfast was delicious. We really appreciate the alternative milks and vegetarian options. We’d happily stay there again.

Surfer Days and Steamy Nights

Newquay has that laidback feel that goes hand in hand with being England’s undisputed surfing capital. The centre of the action is Fistral Beach whose swells and Cribbar Reef produce some of the largest breakers in the British Isles. The long, sandy beach is backed by tall dunes which give way to Newquay Golf Club.

Great Western Beach lies below sheer cliffs one street from the train station, while Towan Beach by the picturesque harbour is the closest to the town centre. Tolcarne Beach is sheltered in its own bay, as is the wide stretch of sand at Porth Beach whose northern coastline is 2 rocky headlands joined by a narrow footbridge over the sea.

Each beach is overlooked by luxury hotels with spas, cheap hostels and self-catering apartments on Booking.com. All are surrounded by Newquay’s restaurants, bars and clubs which offer the best nightlife this side of Bristol.

More leisurely pursuits include Trerice manor house in the countryside near the Lappa Valley Steam Railway. Buccaneer Bay and the Blue Reef Aquarium are popular with families, as are Waterworld and Newquay Zoo within Trenance Gardens.

Another favoured spot for a walk are the salt marshes by the River Gannel which is a prominent sight as you descend into Newquay Cornwall Airport.

I have been to Newquay a few times but only briefly I wanted...

I have been to Newquay a few times but only briefly I wanted to go back and spend more time there so i booked in at the Atlantic hotel because it was where the Beatles stayed while filming the Magical Mystery tour the hotel was very good , food and room just what i wanted , would be happy to return another time.

A good central location for exploring Cornwall, while having sufficient attractions and eating places of its own to justify using it as a base. As in other resorts the lack of parking space and steepness of walks back from the main attractions could be an issue.

There is plenty to do and places to visit.

There is plenty to do and places to visit. Easy to walk around or get a bus. The beaches are lovely and easily accessible. Plenty of restaurants/places to eat. We ate at the Griffin and enjoyed the meals. Disappointed that the Maharaja was closed as we enjoyed going there previously.

At the end of summer season the town and shops seemed tired...

At the end of summer season the town and shops seemed tired and lacking in investment. Cannot knock Fistral beach and the beach bar / facilities there. A few little restaurant gems such as Harbour Fish and Grill, very near the Atlantic Hotel. Fantastic food and great hosting.

I used Newquay as a base to explore local beaches and to walk part of the SW Coast Path. Loved all of local beaches and watching the surfers. Had some great evening meals at Toast, Tiny Thai and Secret Garden and a spot on coffee and breakfast bowl at Milk. Explored Padstow, Trevone, Trevose and St Agnes Head which were exhilarating!

Hotel is located in the calm area of Newquay - no bars or noisy places around. We had a room with a sea view - amazing view of the Fistral beach and sound of waves. The room was small, but clean and nicely decorated. The staff was friendly and helpful. The lady at breakfast always tried to give us a seat near the windows with a view. We enjoyed the sauna and swimming pool. I really appreciated that they worked from 8am to 9pm, we normally visited in the evenings and were alone there. The hotel was quite clean - rooms, halls, seating areas.

It’s a great hotel to stay in Newquay, right in the middle of the town with great access to beaches and restaurants/ cafes, they have Air conditioning inside the rooms which was absolutely amazing and life saving in the heatwave, very clean and spacious room. Highly recommend this place!
