The property was beautiful and thoughtfully designed. The room was a perfect size with a super comfortable bed. The entire vibe of the place was fun, inviting, and felt like a home away from home. It had everything we could need and more and best part the location was incredible, close enough to everything but also super quiet area. The staff were incredibly friendly and helped us find the best places to eat, have a drink, and make the most out of our stay.

The welcome from the owners and the overall atmosphere were exceptional. I arrived from overseas in the evening and, in spite of their own family concerns on that day, the owners made sure that I was informed in advance, and that arrangements were in place for me to settle in to my room. For breakfast, a superb spread, even with fresh local kippers (to be ordered a day in advance) which, living overseas, I had not eaten for years! My room was very quiet, and there was no intrusive noise at all.

The staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful, particularly in the restaurant, where they made good recommendations for food and drink choices to suit my needs. The hotel and spa are simply wonderful, with excellent facilities. I was lucky enough to have the spa to myself in the evening and early morning and to be able to sit in the hydropool and look out over the sea was heavenly.

FAQs about hotels in Newquay

Surfer Days and Steamy Nights

Newquay has that laidback feel that goes hand in hand with being England’s undisputed surfing capital. The centre of the action is Fistral Beach whose swells and Cribbar Reef produce some of the largest breakers in the British Isles. The long, sandy beach is backed by tall dunes which give way to Newquay Golf Club.

Great Western Beach lies below sheer cliffs one street from the train station, while Towan Beach by the picturesque harbour is the closest to the town centre. Tolcarne Beach is sheltered in its own bay, as is the wide stretch of sand at Porth Beach whose northern coastline is 2 rocky headlands joined by a narrow footbridge over the sea.

Each beach is overlooked by luxury hotels with spas, cheap hostels and self-catering apartments on Booking.com. All are surrounded by Newquay’s restaurants, bars and clubs which offer the best nightlife this side of Bristol.

More leisurely pursuits include Trerice manor house in the countryside near the Lappa Valley Steam Railway. Buccaneer Bay and the Blue Reef Aquarium are popular with families, as are Waterworld and Newquay Zoo within Trenance Gardens.

Another favoured spot for a walk are the salt marshes by the River Gannel which is a prominent sight as you descend into Newquay Cornwall Airport.

What Guests Said About Newquay:

Been visiting Newquay for years.

Been visiting Newquay for years. To get the best of it I'd recommend visiting between May and October. It can get very busy in Summer. Especially busy around the Boardmasters festival. From around May the miniature train rolls through town carrying passengers from one end to the other. October is great for Halloween celebrations with a "zombie parade" through town and a Roald Dahl "The Witches" theme at the Headlands Hotel ( where the 1990s film was made) The beaches are great, very accessible and best enjoyed when the sun is out. Places to visit: Towan Beach, Fistral Beach, Porth Beach. Newquay Harbour. The Headlands clifftops. The Aquarium at Towan Beach. Newquay Zoo. You can spot seals all year around and dolphins are known to come close enough in to see from the harbour. I'd recommend a stay at The Headlands Hotel for a spa day and great food. Dogs are welcome many places but not allowed on the main beaches from Spring to Autumn.

I grew up in Newquay so I enjoyed coming back. Unfortunately a lot of places are closed. If you’re visiting for the night life or on a walking holiday then this is an amazing location. If you’re here to shop I’d personally find another place.

The views of the Atlantic are spectacular.

The views of the Atlantic are spectacular. People are friendly. Plenty of shops(sainsburys near the harbour) Morrisons a bit further away. In the headland hotel there’s a nice restaurant - Renmor - nice food. Cheapish & cheerful the Red Lion up from the harbour for food - they have sports on the tv. Graze tapas ( near the harbour ) nice place to eat although a bit pricey. Plenty of parking everywhere as it’s December & free!

Been coming to Newquay for the last 40 years on and off...

Been coming to Newquay for the last 40 years on and off sometimes twice a year now as we don't fly. Still places to go that we have never been too after all this time. We find Newquay is the best place to stay when travelling around in your car. Still call in at all the old places and they never let us down. Newquay has got some nice places to walk to its just finding them and you never more than 45 mins away from anything. Some great local pubs and new ones popping up. Eating out is also getting better all the time.

The town has lost its 'seaside' charm.

The town has lost its 'seaside' charm. The narrow streets of once picturesque houses and cottages are now jammed up with parked cars and the area beyond the town centre, once rolling countryside, has become a sprawling 'newtown' of summer accommodation.

So much to do and see.

So much to do and see. So close for drives along the scenic coastline One of our favorite meals was at Susie’s. We watched a game of Rugby at Sailors Arms, which was very festive. Walking down the village street was so fun seeing all the shops and buzz of people. We tasted our first Cornish Pasty Ladyvale Bakery. Yumm Fun road train around the area, but sadly we didn’t manage to do that. Lovely walk to Towan Headland, and back past Fistral Beach. Our meal at Rick Stein wasn’t too great, but loved our coffees and pints at Fistral Boardmasters Beach Bar - great watching the surfers .

We had a spacious and comfortable room overlooking the rear garden. Newquay is quite a bustling town especially over the weekend. Fortunately Porth Beach is away from the main town (on the Padstow side) but next to the beach, so the location was perfect. The breakfast is generous, and the hotel also does lunch and dinner. The decor is nice and fresh, and we had good weather. We didn't get to swim but the water looked very inviting.
