Beautiful place with a breathtaking view. Very pretty garden. The house is absolutely gorgeous, very spacious, comfortable furniture everything super clean and brand new. We called in to a few pubs and the locals were all very friendly and chatty even to us English ha ha. The town was clean and we had a nice walk across the river along a park then back again. There was plenty of places to have a drink. We only went for the football at Queen of the South and I would go there again given the chance.

I visited with my young grandchildren to attend the Wigtonshire Book Festival which was a great success, as was the accommodation.
However on the Sunday evening, after the Book Festival, There was nowhere suitable available in Dumfries to take three children for an evening meal before travelling home to Stirling. Quite disappointing.

Dumfries is a mecca for all things Rabbie Burns; it boasts the site of his original grave, a Burns museum, the house where he last resided, his local pub and more besides. The people of Dumfries are exceptionally friendly and the town is steeped in history. The River Nith provides a romantic backdrop which is very atmospheric at night. Dumfries is easily accessible by road and rail and easy to get around. There are some very characterful places to visit and with more visitors, the variety of places to eat and drink will surely increase.
Great accommodation, had everything we needed. Very modern and great location, easy walk to town centre and lovely riverside walks . Perfect base for exploring along the Dumfries and Galloway coast with lots of lovely places to go and was so nice to come back after a day out and be able to relax in the Stables outside space which was great with a table and 6 chairs as well as 2 comfy reclining loungers
Would highly recommend as we thoroughly enjoyed our time here
The hotel has just recently opened after a refurbishment and the rooms were both comfortable and stunning. The staff were superb and nothing was too much trouble. The food was excellent and it was ideally situated for accessing Dumfries town centre but far enough out to be quiet and peaceful. We’ll definitely stay here again if we’re ever visiting Dumfries or the surrounding areas.
The property was very comfy, cozy and inviting. It was well maintained and had everything we needed. The village was beautiful and although you were close to the road. There was no noise or disturbance. It was the perfect location for us visiting family who live in Dumfries Town Centre. We had easily access to the coast and family in Lockerbie.
This is a cosy apartment in a good location. On arrival, it was warm and felt welcoming. There are some nice touches: tea, coffee and sugar available, The bed was comfy. There was a selection of utensils to cook with. The apartment was clean. It is also in a great location for Dumfries town centre. A comfortable stay.
The room was comfortable and clean, the hotel is a beautiful old building, the staff were friendly ☺️ We really enjoyed the Scottish breakfast every morning, the melon and yoghurt was a delicious extra touch. We found it very good value.
It was lovely to be able to bring our dog in overnight too.
Actually the second time we've stayed at the Cairndale Hotel - it's clean and comfortable and we'd definitely consider staying there again. An absolutely excellent shower and a very nice breakfast. It's really nice having the leisure club to relax in after a day in the outdoors.
Lovely hotel in a beautiful old house with very nice grounds near Dumfries. The staff members were really friendly and helpful and our room was excellent: big and clean. We had an evening meal at the restaurant, which was excellent, as was the breakfast the following morning.
The Hotel was in a quiet position on the outskirts of Dumfries. There was plenty of on-site parking. Breakfast selection was very good and cooked breakfasts were speedily delivered. All of the staff, especially Emma at breakfast, were very attentive, friendly and courteous.
Immaculately presented hotel with very welcoming staff/owners. Proper home cooked food at dinner at highly competitive prices. Large rooms beautifully furnished. Large bathrooms. Welcoming public spaces beautifully decorated.
Beautiful old building set in a magnificent park. Easy access to all the main roads. Very nice room. Only had breakfast at the hotel so can’t comment on the other meals. The breakfast buffet has good - everything you expect.
The Huntingdon is a high quality, small hotel, adjacent to the station and short walk to Dumfries centre. The hotel decor is excellent and the rooms clean and comfortable. The breakfast is made fresh, with local produce
room was spacious, clean and comfortable, staff were helpful and attentive. Hotel is only a 10 minute walk from the town centre, free parking is a real bonus. Breakfast was plentiful and tasty.
Lovely countryside location, yet close to Dumfries. We visited the area to visit Caerlaverloch Castle and this place proved perfect for that outing, being only a 20 minute drive away.
I’d stay again - A good value small single room with facilities and comfortable bed, good location to reach Dumfries town centre, very helpful and friendly staff.
