The Hotel was okay the staff were verry friendly and helpful, would be better if they reopened the restaurant and starting serving evening meals again and when we got there were told that the Hotel bar would close at 9pm so we had to go some where else for a drink, as we usually have a nightcap when we get back to the hotel.

We were only there for one night, but we’re recommended the Globe for a meal, and it didn’t disappoint, on the way we dropped in at the Annan distillery well worth the £25 tour and the driver gets his or her tasting pack to take away with them.

Lots to see and do all around ; mountain biking in the forests ( recommend Ae forest with bike hire and cafe) Lots of local history from gunpowder to Robert Burns . Drumlanrig castle near Thornhill well worth a visit . Beautiful place with a breathtaking view. Very pretty garden. The house is absolutely gorgeous, very spacious, comfortable furniture everything super clean and brand new. Jan and Colin are the nicest people on earth rescuing us from the back of beyond with two flat tires. I want to come again and stay much longer.

We called in to a few pubs and the locals were all very friendly and chatty even to us English ha ha. The town was clean and we had a nice walk across the river along a park then back again. There was plenty of places to have a drink. We only went for the football at Queen of the South and I would go there again given the chance.

However on the Sunday evening, after the Book Festival, There was nowhere suitable available in Dumfries to take three children for an evening meal before travelling home to Stirling. On arrival I found the parking bays nicely marked out and the cables ran down the walls but no chargers. Very disappointing and annoying as I had to spend 2 hours in Dumfries this morning charging up my car for the onward journey. I feel the property was mis-sold to me and I will be seeking a refund. someone in your business needs to be updating your information on booking.com.

A lovely river walk took you into town if you wanted a longer walk along the river into town. Free parking was available at the side of the hotel, Lovely bedrooms, clean, well equipped with TV, tea and coffee machine etc. with a large ensuite shower room. Breakfast was excellent in both quality and value and the staff were happy to give information, and recommendations of places to see and visit.
