Is an area rich with variety of landscapes with walks - views of sea and mountain- a really lovely , spacious house/cottage - 3 double -bedrooms plus a sofa bed the 2nd-living space area plus a large living-room - two televisions with all mod-cons /channel-wise- a large kitchen and smart dining area , Local pub/restaurant( The Greyhound) open evenings weekdays and also lunches at weekends- pub/garage/post office sells most essentials- - lovely cafe in Kirkby in Furness open Sunday - Tuesday , bakers and butcher shops in Broughton in Furness ( short drive en route to another hillwalking area) Windermere and Coniston Water a short drive away. We ate every evening at the Greyhound ,great menu - don't miss the pies or the Sunday Roast- Thursdays is Locals Night , lunched at Pat's Cafe in Kirkby ( recommended) and picnicked with food from the baker's at Broughton and cooked at home. I meant to go to the yoga Tuesday evening at the community centre but dinner called. It was great to leave the car and walk in the area for a couple of days. More buses would be good but that's the same everywhere . An OS map is good for finding walks - lanes, footpaths, routes- woodlands, hills , rivers, lakes, slate quarry and other places to look around indoors - all here . The village shop does not sell bread - bakers is in Broughton ( recommended) - the garage does not have an airline ( Broughton's garage does ) . Litter/dog bins near the garage and on the westward footpath. Friendly , helpful community around here - made us feel welcomed and included .

I liked the layout of the house, upside down so that the best views were from the lounge/dining kitchen area. It was warm and cosy and beautifully presented. The place was handy for the lakes and coastal areas and great for dog walking. The pub was just a short walk down the hill and served meals, with a homely atmosphere and open fire. Grizebeck is a very small village but handy for all lake District attractions. The cottage was at the end of a short lane so no traffic would be driving past in any hurry apart from turning round, as the lane became a narrow bridle path. Plenty of parking outside for 3 cars.
