This palatial hotel is perhaps a little faded, but there are many echoes of its former glories. I enjoyed my stay very much. Nice room. Beautiful location and grounds. Excellent staff. A hearty breakfast in the biggest dining room I’ve ever seen

The cottage was in CARK a village just outside Cartmel in the Grange over Sands area. If you want to be in the centre of the Lake District the this is not for you but provided you have the means to travel - and there is a rail station just yards down the road with links across the area up as far as Carlisle - everything is within a reasonable distance: we visited Windemere (for the boat rides) Boot for the little train and Hardknott pass for a real whiteknuckle drive.

Grange is a beautiful area with lots to see and do I enjoy walking around the little town and prom the people are lovely and the shop pub chip shop etc owners are so nice and welcoming I was invited to look in a shop when a girl was doing a stock take out of hours and I was looking in the window she was lovely and I ended up buying some lovely jewellery with no pressure. On my last afternoon there was a prom art unexpectedly and all stall owners were very nice. I had the most delicious apple pie ice cream and pot of tea in a little cafe near the station which has loose tea shop above and again was invited in even when due to close and bought some lovely tea again no pressure with chat and good humour all part of the service. I'd highly recommend the area.

A quiet part of the Lake District but still a good hill to climb (Hampsfell) and down to Cartmel. Do not miss a beautiful coastal train journey which you can take all the way to Carlisle. We went to Ravenglass to go on Little Ratty steam train. Grange has a lovely flower-fill promenade with no traffic, great views of the surrounding coast and vast sands. The town has lots of cafes and independent shops. Good chippy too. Perfect place for a relaxing holiday and perfect for exploring via the train.

3rd visit to Grange over Sands.
3rd visit to Grange over Sands. Stayed more central this time so much closer to supermarkets and the prom. Great railway station and bus service for when we didn't use the car. Very friendly locals. Great park with duck food £1.00 per bag to feed the ducks. Great local ice-creams sold in various locations. Had morning drink and tea cake in Butter Fingers, very good menu for meals too. Ate in The Estuary Bistro which was amazing, food and service was excellent 10/10, just be aware they do charge for the table water £4.50 a bottle!! Very friendly and very quick service. Would return for that extra special meal. Also tried The Commodore Inn which is currently being refurbished. Staff and food was excellent but inside obviously being refurbished so will hold off commenting. Great local shops and Daisy Bookshop is a cavern of treats, always come out with a book or two.
Promenade walk each day is a must and look forward to seeing the completed refurbishment of the Lido when that is completed.

We walked along a long promenade but most was shut for renovations but should be good after two weeks so mid April. We went through some gardens before there with a round pavilion and gardens which was nice. Lots of shops including Tesco express and co-op very near hotel. If you have an electric car like us then opposite the hotel is a charging point for two cars only and we managed to charge it there after registering with Fuuse and downloading the app. Was panicking getting it sorted but once done the app worked great. The contactless option didn’t work so had to use this other option so be warned in advance EV car owners. Get the app before you get there! Plus! The car park is pay and display so make sure you do that as the car next to us had a fine on his window for not doing so, even on Easter Sunday

Very kind proffessional staff. Although the deadline for free cancelation was passed 24h, the Grange Hotel accepted to cancel one room FOC, as one of our members broke his arm the day before. And also accepted a change of room with better view for two other members. We stayed with 6 bikers for 3 nights.
Excellent restaurant, bar and breakfast. Superb high class facilities.
Although on Saturday there was a wedding party, we experienced no hinder or late noise.
The views over Morecambe Bay were excellent from our bedroom, and restaurant.
The bedroom was very comfortable.
This is a beautiful old hotel, with dark wood panelling. The lounge and Library provided us with somewhere to sit and read.
It has extensive gardens to the front, and plenty of parking.
A perfect location for South Lakes, and South Cumbrian Coast.
Very warm welcome. Informative on arrival. All the facilities in one hotel. Great atmosphere bar & restaurant.
Dined twice, food was of high quality. Great range of beers.
Breakfast included during our stay. Would certainly recommend to others. Cartmel & Bowness well worth visiting.
The hotel is very grand, very clean and the staff work incredibly hard, some undertaking multiple roles in an employment crisis. The breakfast was lovely and as it’s dog friendly she could eat with us in one of the side rooms as dogs are not allowed in the restaurant area.
