Breakfast was great. Location is good if you drive as shops etc are a good distance away. Staff are lovely. It’s the 2nd time there and everything is made easy. Couldn’t fault anything.

I visited with my young grandchildren to attend the Wigtonshire Book Festival which was a great success, as was the accommodation.
However on the Sunday evening, after the Book Festival, There was nowhere suitable available in Dumfries to take three children for an evening meal before travelling home to Stirling. Quite disappointing.

I was only there for 2 days, for a Watercolour workshop, so unfortunately didn’t have much time for sightseeing, but it seems a very historic and interesting town

Dumfries is a mecca for all things Rabbie Burns; it boasts the site of his original grave, a Burns museum, the house where he last resided, his local pub and more besides. The people of Dumfries are exceptionally friendly and the town is steeped in history. The River Nith provides a romantic backdrop which is very atmospheric at night. Dumfries is easily accessible by road and rail and easy to get around. There are some very characterful places to visit and with more visitors, the variety of places to eat and drink will surely increase.

A town that is down on its luck but a lot going on to improve it at the moment. And it's a stronghold of Robert Burns history as well as being handy for some excellent countryside, coast, hills, etc. Great mountain-biking trails. A couple of really good places to eat (check out something fine at the Globe Inn).

The area is convenient to a beautiful castle ruin and nice birdwatching reserves on the River Nith. There were some restaurants in the town, but we had delicious dinner at the Friars Carse which is also open to non- hotel guests for dinner.
The hotel has just recently opened after a refurbishment and the rooms were both comfortable and stunning. The staff were superb and nothing was too much trouble. The food was excellent and it was ideally situated for accessing Dumfries town centre but far enough out to be quiet and peaceful. We’ll definitely stay here again if we’re ever visiting Dumfries or the surrounding areas.
Riverview had everything you could need, a true home from home and a lovely base to explore Scotland. Lovely to look out over the river and a brilliant park just outside for early morning dog walks. Great location for getting out doing some walks and good restaurants very close.
The welcome pack was a lovely touch especially treats for the doggo.
Thanks for a great stay
Our hosts Sally and Ian were just lovely and we thoroughly enjoyed chatting with them. They had many recommendations for restaurants and things to do in and around Dumfries. The fridge with complimentary soft drinks was another highlight in the unseasonably warm Scottish weather. We felt really welcome in their home and can only recommend Lindean Guest House.
The hotel was warm and extremely welcoming and comfortable.. immaculately clean with beautiful decor in my opinion. a great location for discovering dumfries and within 2 minute walk of railway station
Will certainly be returning
The hotel is well placed for exploring Dumfries and Galloway.
Our room was a good size if a little dated decor wise.
The food offering was good without being exceptional.
The grounds are pleasant with good views of the river Nith.
The breakfast was served in the hotel next door. This was not a problem for us and the breakfast was excellent. The room was very clean and comfortable if a little on the small side. We had a super Chinese meal in Dumfries.
We stayed in one of the cottages and it was wonderful. Spacious, warm and well equipped. Friendly and polite staff too in the main hotel areas. Dog friendly and catered for gluten free too. Brilliant.
Lovely countryside location, yet close to Dumfries. We visited the area to visit Caerlaverloch Castle and this place proved perfect for that outing, being only a 20 minute drive away.
The hotel's location is good, close to the town centre and bars, but in a quiet road. Parking is good, and the welcome is very warm. The breakfast was good.
