Breakfast was pretty good on the whole but along the same lines as a premier inn our room was very basic considering it was nearly 200 quid and dinner in the evening was a complete train wreck.
Ended up waiting well over an hour for food and once it arrived it was dry
Once back to out room was unable to connect to the Wi-Fi and because of location couldn’t use my mobile data either.
We then spent the rest of the evening with a terrible upset stomach that I put down to the sea bass and muscles we ate
Very dissatisfied which was such a shame as the Hotel itself looked amazing the grounds were beautiful

First what was ok - Staff were attentive, food in restaurant was really good. Now the Bad, we booked for 2 quiet rooms, on arrival we were told there was a wedding so maybe some music, one of the rooms was ok the music wasn't very loud, however the other room was horrendous the room was shaking with the noise as I believe I was the room under the DJ and the microphone, it was so loud I got no sleep, I feel we should have been told about the wedding when booking so we could make our choice as it does not advertise it as a wedding venue online. I have put in a complaint but have had no response from the hotel to date.

Once an important medieval trading centre, Norwich remains a popular shopping destination. The Chapelfield centre is the newest addition, whereas a historic shop sells the city’s most famous export: Colman’s Mustard. Castle Mall is underground, in a hill topped with a keep, part of the 12th-century castle founded by William the Conqueror.
Dating to the same era is the large cobbled square housing a 6-day market. It was said that Norwich had a church for every week, and while that is no longer true, over 30 medieval churches still exist. The cathedral was built using stone from Normandy and boasts England’s 2nd largest cloisters and 2nd tallest spire.
Colourful medieval façades line Elm Hill and the Guildhall is another fine example of the period. Half-timbered Dragon Hall was a trading hall, while St Andrew’s and Blackfriars Halls constitute England’s most intact friary. The 14th-century Cow Tower sits by the River Wensum upstream from Pulls Ferry, the train station and Norwich City FC.
Reportedly, Norwich once had a pub for every day, and today’s traditional inns and modern bars are certainly popular with the student population. Other entertainment options include the Theatre Royal and Playhouse.
Norwich accommodation on Booking.com includes historic hotels with pools, city centre guest houses and riverside apartments, all near to Norwich Airport.

Norwich, a pleasant surprise, the town and city was better then I/we expected, the old town reminded me of York, lots of independent shops, lots to browse, places to eat, would be a shoppers heaven. There is also the newer part of the city, with arcades and most of the usual shops. My main delight was Jarrolds Department store, (not many left) well worth a visit if your looking for something special! Then there was the market, an-other nice surprise! I have also never encountered so many Churches, including the lovely Norwich Cathedral! Also there are lots of beautiful buildings and some amazing architecture! The castle was closed due to repairs but looks very imposing on the hill. I/we have only seen a small portion of Norwich, but are looking to return later in the year and will be staying a few extra days! I'd say, if you like a nice friendly City with lots of culture & shopping, try Norwich! :-)

This was our first trip to Norwich. We absolutely loved it.
This was our first trip to Norwich. We absolutely loved it. The Maids Head hotel where we stayed was a real find situated as it is right next to the wonderful cathedral in Tombland.
Norwich itself is a vibrant city which seemlessly marries ancient and modern in a way that really works. There is so much to see and do. If you have £100,000 to spend on a diamond ring you can find one but if you just want an authentic gelato you can find that too about 50mtrs away. The market area is legendary and has a massive street food section where you can sample anything from pie and peas to Asian cuisine. We loved the whole place and will be back again.

Olive Cafe and Haggle restaurant were two stand out options for food. Try the bubble and squeak at Olive. Olive's breakfast option was enourmous.
We had four starters and two main courses at Haggle. Every one was superb. Staff very friendly and efficient.
Maids Head was a great location for our stay. Adjacent to the Cathedral and any amount of the historical walks outlined for free on the Norwich Society website.

Beautiful cathedral. So-so outdoor market.
Beautiful cathedral. So-so outdoor market. People are very very friendly and helpful. It's a nice city to just wander everywhere, and easy to find your bearings.
Lots of information and a wonderful monument to Edith Cavell, the brave nurse executed by the Germans.
Many varied eateries to match your hunger level or kind of dining experience you want, from street takeaways to tea cafes to fine dining.
I enjoyed my stay in Norwich; no pressure, and I had a very fine studio apartment called Wellington Apartments, which is directly behind Norwich Cathedral.

Two days in Norwich was just right for us to explore the historic interests, shop the Shambles and get a feel for the culture and atmosphere. I'm not sure why it's not a top tourist recommendation as there is lots of charm and history in a relatively small and easy to explore town. Maybe the cobble stone streets being a little hilly are more difficult for the elderly that aren't used to the European way of walking so much, but it seems everyone got around well.

Tombland area was pleasant
Tombland area was pleasant
The cathedral was utterly beautiful
However the city in general looked tatty, dirty and uncared for.
The rubbish bins overflowed
The graffiti was everywhere
The hen and stag parties were lewd and loud.
The pubs were shabby and over crowded
There seems to be a dearth of good restaurants and bars.
Overall..very disappointing.
The city looked neglected and we were very disappointed.
Situated in a quiet residential area of Norwich, though only a relatively short walk from the city centre. Free parking supplied and plenty of availability in surrounding roads as an alternative. The room was a good size, nicely decorated and had everything that we needed. Bathroom was modern and spacious and TV options were good - Netflix and I believe Prime TV both supplied. A continental breakfast is provided in the room, along with a fridge big enough to keep some of your own things in. Plenty of hangers in wardrobe too.
I needed a cheap simple hotel for one night as I was in Norwich for the evening. I checked in late and left early so didn't need many facilities. But the bed was comfy, the TV worked, the room was clean and quiet, the shower was hot, the towels were clean and there were tea & coffee facilities plus a fridge if I'd needed it. Plug sockets by the bed are always helpful. Plenty of parking.
Check-in - receptionist was nice and the process was easy
Check-out - simply pop the key card in a post box and leave
We stayed here a couple of years ago and decided to spend a couple of nights over New year with 2 of my sons and their families. Had a really lovely time the staff are great and the rooms are spotlessly clean. Breakfast is an additional £5 pp and is great value for a full English 😋. The hotel is situated right on the River and about 25 minute walk into Norwich City centre. Overall excellent value for money and my sons have booked to go back in July
Great location in the city centre, very near the Theatre Royal. The building itself is stunning and our room (Room 11) was beautiful. The bed was very comfortable, lovely toiletries and fantastic shower, plenty of room in a historic part of the house. The food was very good and beautifully presented. The staff were all great and nothing was too much trouble for any of them. We would definitely consider staying there again if we were in Norwich.
Excellent stay, could not fault it. Alex the manager was lovely and nothing was too much trouble. The room was spotlessly clean (even under the bed) which is very rare 😉 Also being able to park on site was a bonus, and just a few minutes walk into the town centre.
I have already recommended the hotel and will definitely be staying here again. Well done Alex and team 👏
Beautiful countryside setting. Lovely old style building. Lovely interior. Excellent staff. A chef with a Michelin star, from a previous restaurant and aiming for one at Caistor Hall too. Lovely breakfast area. Dog friendly. Stunning countryside walks around Caistor and Stoke Holy Cross. Old Roman ruin walks too, behind the church. Ten mins into Norwich City centre.
Location was good. We were going to the concert "Lets Rock Norwich" and the park was a walk away. The house was very homely, well equipped and clean. the furnishings was nice and the main bedroom had an ensuite toilet and then there was also a bathroom on the same floor and on the ground floor. We were 4 people one couple and 2 singles and the space was great.
Nice room, comfortable bed, very clean. Excellent breakfast. Most of the staff very pleasant and helpful. Quiet location but easy enough to get to Norwich city centre by taxi. (There is also a bus, 44A, which runs through the village between Aylsham and Norwich.
Very impressed with the apartment & its location. Perfect for our requirements.
Tastefully decorated & furnished, we felt very comfortable & "at home".
, we really enjoyed our stay & would return next time we happened to be in Norwich.
The staff were very welcoming and helpful. I was able to store my bike within the hotel. Room was large and well equipped with good sized TV, kettle and even a coffee machine. Good en suite.
Very good full vegetarian breakfast.
A really lovely, traditional hotel a short stroll from the city centre. It is a very comfortable and welcoming hotel and the quality of the food was a real strength - both the cooked breakfasts and excellent dinner menu.
The hotel is ok for a short stay. Comfortable room, lovely breakfast and pleasant staff. We were happy with the warm swimming pool and sauna. A short distance from the city centre by car. We liked exploring Norwich.
Loved the apartment (got a free upgrade with them), clean, well lit and well stocked with teas and coffees. Everything was easy to find, the bathroom was amazing. It felt like staying in a hotel.
The hotel is perfectly positioned to explore Norwich city centre, in the Tombland area. Lovely Jumior suite with a huge bed. We had lovely cooked breakfast, and parking was free.
Lovely clean apartment and a great location! Easy access and free parking. Thank you for making our stay in Norwich so comfortable. A great night's sleep in a quiet location.
A great location in a quiet residential area, yet within easy reach of Norwich city centre. Plenty of parking. Fantastic breakfast and comfortable room.
