Nice location, good cabins with hot shower. Set menu dinner was delicious and plenty. Prices are reasonable for food & drinks. Can swim around the river, and use free tubes. Helpful staff and good communication. Organized our boat trip to Livingston with no problem.

Place was lovely and so was the staff. About 20 minute walk from where the buses let you off or the lanchas. She helped to arrange a boat to Livingston and made pancakes in the morning for everyone at the hostel. Stayed there again after going to livingston I liked it so much.

Extraordinarily nice staff. Clean rooms, great restaurant.
I really wanted to like Rio Dulce. It turned out to be only a hub for boat and bus travel for me. Having spent two months in Guatemala by the time I got there, I was not surprised by the poverty or conditions. That said, I didn’t find much other than the castle to be places I wanted to see more of. It was very hot and humid in early July.

Beautiful remote location with many jungle lodges (from super remote to more public) along the river. Great jungle hikes, caves, kayaking with plenty of nature and wildlife. Definitely a required stop when visiting Guatemala, will visit again!
This was a great place to escape into the jungle for a few days. We absolutely had a wonderful time! The Naranjo bungalow was spacious and comfortable.. we enjoyed lounging in the hammocks and listening to the night-time jungle sounds. The kitchen produces wonderful meals; very big portions to very good value for money. The family that runs the hotel is super nice and down-to-earth.. they were very helpful for my wife when we had a small injury. Highly highly recommend this place. It is a haven!
- Food was delicious!
- Staff very helpful! They recommended El Boquerón to us which we hadn’t heard about and absolutely loved it. I left a pair of swimwear behind after checking out and they kindly sent it to Rio Dulce Travel office for me to collect.
- Location. There’s lots of great hotels/hostels/eco lodges along Rio Dulce, but Tortugal was perfect because there’s access to the main road where you can then go to the hot waterfall or Boquerón and also into Rio Dulce easily.
very eco friendly place, but still comfortable. The hotel staff was friendly and helpful. We took a mini tour boat around the lake (independent vender, but reception staff have contact numbers), did a Kayak tour at 5:30 am in which we saw some hauling monkeys, and they have a nice hiking trWe did not eat in the hotel restaurant so can’t weigh in on that.
Breakfast was delicious and prices were comparable to restaurants outside of hotel. Hotel also offered an hour or two (don't remember clearly) of free little foot paddling boats, which was fun to pass the time. The hotel is nice and secure as well with security outside of resort. Loved that they were pet friendly as well, so I got to bring my pup along!
Nice staff and room! It is noisy die to the road but if you live in the city it is the same amount of noise.
We were so tired from our trip from Mexico city and went straight to Rio dulce it was easy for us to fall a sleep
Also pick up (collectivo/public boat) from the hotel to Livingstone and other river lodges
We got a room not facing the street (i.e. #3), and it was one of the best nights of sleep we had in 5 weeks in Guatemala. AC, wifi in the room, very comfortable bed and pillows (way above Guatemala standard) and a great shower. The cafe is also fantastic with delicious breakfast for Q20-Q30.
We regret not staying longer. We were overnighting on our way to Tikal but would have loved to stay longer and enjoy the comfort of this jungle river boutique hotel. Room was spacious, bed super comfy and bathroom clean. Food was also great. Would love to come back and stay longer.
Lovely rooms (incl airconditioning), nice pool, good food, great staff. After getting ripped of at the Boatique Hotel, this was a great alternative. We wanted to do the jungle walk before it was open due to a shuttle we had to catch. The staff organised that we could get in early.
I really loved this little hotel! The staff is super friendly, dorms are very comfortable (I happily stayed in a 4 person instead of the 6 I booked!), the food is great and it is very affordable. You can also rent kayaks for free or take a boat to nearby activities on the river.
An amazing, quite place with a great staff and delicious food. The location is close to Rio Dulce town but far enough away to be secluded. The have a boat that picks you up for free and the staff helped with lots of questions about tours and transportation to Honduras.
This was the most relaxing and beautiful hotel we’ve ever stayed at ! The staff was extremely nice , the food was delicious they have a boat that’s picks and drops you off. You can hear the monkeys every morning . We will definitely be coming back to this place !
I loved everything about my stay at Tortugal. From the staff, service, attention, food, grounds, lodging, and peacefulness. Angela, Leo, and Rudy were amazing. They went above and beyond to make us feel like stars!!
Wonderful location! We enjoyed this uniquely located hotel with its minimalist accommodation
and back-to-nature feel. Loved the kayaking, paddle boarding, and the kind and helpful staff!
Food was delicious!
Situated right on the water, this hotel offered a beautiful restaurant, hammocks to relax in, and the breeze off the water was wonderful. The room was very clean, the shower had good hot water and pressure.
I liked that checkin was fast, hotel location was nice and clean, pool was empty.
as is a marine there is no hotel people working there only the marine staff is in charge so expect no much hospitality
We stayed for 1 night to split the drive between Flores and Guatemala City. It was fine for that. Service was good. Extra large double bed was comfortable.
forgot my iphone charger but we’re not willing to look for a. solution to return it. literally said: it’s not the problem of the hotel. Overpriced hotel
