Located in Río Dulce in the Izabal Region, 1 mi from Rio Dulce Town, Dreamcatcher Eco Lodge features a private beach area and water sports facilities. Guests can enjoy the on-site bar. Amazing place, really special. Howler monkeys in the trees right outside our room! Great staff. Wonderful food. Liesel, the owner is super friendly and helpful. I read some reviews about the food being expensive - it’s not cheap but it’s great quality and there’s no pressure to eat there. They were happy to arrange a water taxi to town (20Q pp) whenever we wanted to go. I recommend trying their Pina Colada - was the best I’ve ever tasted.

El Hotelito Perdido, Hotel Hacienda Tijax Jungle Logde, and Tortugal Boutique River Lodge got great room view-related reviews from travelers in Río Dulce.
Beautiful remote location with many jungle lodges (from super remote to more public) along the river. Great jungle hikes, caves, kayaking with plenty of nature and wildlife. Definitely a required stop when visiting Guatemala, will visit again!
Busy, dirty but you can get relatively cheap food in local restaurants. There are boat tours around but we didn't try any. A lot of touts around. The only bus is Litegua company. Go to the station to ask for the bus schedule if you know where you want to go after Rio Dulce. Not much to see in this small river town.
The scenery is fantastic, and so is the local food. The traffic was rough in town, but given the location as a pathway between regions it is understandable. There is lots of activity in the market on weekends and seems to be some nightlife as well.
the Main Street is chaotic, loud and hot, so stay a little away from there, like at Casa Perico, or somewhere else in the jungle. Check out Finca El Paraiso, a natural hot springs waterfall. Also, El Boqueron is a beautiful canyon and I’m surprised more people don’t visit it.
Río Dulce
The monkeys! There's a troop of howler monkeys that live in the trees around the hotel and it's amazing to hear them and see them. The hotel itself was very beautiful and the pool was nice. The hotel is located only a 5 or so minute boat ride from Fronteras, so quick and easy to get to if you want to leave the hotel. Kitchen and wait staff were very friendly.
There was a free launch to and from the hotel and the town when checking in or out. It was a 30 minute walk to the main road in the town. The bungalows were spacious with a great shower and aircon. The pool was a fair size. The food was good quality and reasonable for a hotel. There were inexpensive activities available. The staff were helpful and available.
The property was very quiet and surrounded by nature the staff was so helpful and very nice we had the best micheladas ever and the food was delicious but what really made our stay special and fun was the staff not everyday you visit a place with such welcoming employees thank you very much to the staff of Tortugal
Río Dulce
I enjoyed my stay in the hostel! I checked in at 11.30 pm and that was no problem at all. The room and bathroom were very clean, the wifi was decent enough to get some work done and Flor even warmed up my breakfast after my meeting ended. Would recommend it if you stay the night in Rio Dulce town!
Río Dulce
An amazing, quite place with a great staff and delicious food. The location is close to Rio Dulce town but far enough away to be secluded. The have a boat that picks you up for free and the staff helped with lots of questions about tours and transportation to Honduras.
Great place to unwind for a few days, you are in middle of a lake with no roads! be prepared to stay at hotel a lot of the time, staff only speak Spanish but I liked this as I’m trying to learn Spanish (use it as an opportunity to learn)
Very nice hotel! Across the bridge from Rio Dulce itsself, but everything is a short tuktuk ride or boatride away. Perfect location and pool. Very nice cabins! Best we had in the whole of Guatemala.
The hotel is in a relatively remote and quiet spot surrounded by beautiful nature. Alejandra and her team made us feel welcome at all times.
one of the cleanest hotels I visited in Guatemala, comfortable bed, air conditioning, good quality at a low price
The owner was very helpful and went above and beyond to get us to and from the hotel.
