Welcoming Galway is a small city with fantastic nightlife and an infectious atmosphere. Outside of the Galway Arts Festival, there’s still plenty of live music in the Irish pubs to get the party started.
The Galway Races at Ballybrit Race Course west of Galway Airport attract a good crowd, as does Eyre Square, a green space with flags of previous ruling families who gave it its nickname - City of Tribes. To the south are cobbled streets housing brightly colored shops and restaurants.
Sights in Galway include its cathedral and city museum which has an interesting insight into the history of the city and Ireland. Lynch’s Castle is the last remaining 17th-century merchant house, and the Spanish Arch is a small section of city walls by the Corrib River, linking Galway Bay to huge Loch Corrib. Where river and ocean meet is Claddagh Park, a great spot for a picnic with a view.
Further around the coast is Salthill Promenade, home to Atlantaquaria, Ireland’s national aquarium, focussing on sealife off Irish shores. It’s a Christmas Day tradition to jump from Blackrock Diving Tower nearby into the icy Atlantic Ocean, though you may well spot some wag giving it a go.
Booking.com has an excellent range of Galway hotels, apartments and B&Bs to complete your stay.

Galway was a great place to start our touring along the Wild Atlantic Way meandering along the coastline and through the national parks. Galway City has plenty to offer with great food, accommodation, cafes, walks, shopping, even catching the bus to Salthill and walk along the promenade and least but not last great Guinness.

Lovely town , and a great base to travel from if you have a car. Lots of bars and restaurants in the town, many with live traditional music. Plenty of attractions within a 2 hour drive ... Cliffs of Moher, Aran Islands, Westport and Clonmacnoise, to name but a few ...

I wish I could say I loved my time in Galway.
I wish I could say I loved my time in Galway. After spending 9 days touring Ireland, Galway felt like a tourist trap. I have heard great things about this town so was really disappointed. It was a cute town, but extremely busy and packed full of tourists. We had a hard time getting dinner and missed hanging out with locals. The only bright spot about that day was that the Leonardo hotel was wonderful! It was a fantastic location, easy to get in and out of, clean and bright. Really fantastic breakfast!

Lovely family holiday in Spiddal where some of my in-laws family lived. Galway is so lovely but did not get to enjoy the city this time around. We did however come in the city to do the Corrib River boat cruise which was thoroughly enjoyable. Had a lovely coffee and cannoli at Bar Italia Ciarlantini while waiting to board the ferry.

Very friendly and helpful staff and we received an upgrade on arrival. Room was very clean and tidy. Plenty of towels in the bathroom and even a bath with our shower. Evening meal was excellent at a very reasonable cost . Breakfast buffet was exceptional with a vast verity to choose from including vegetarian. There was a public bus stop just outside the wall of the the hotel going in and out of town every day mostly every 30 minutes. It’s only a 20 minutes casual walk in a straight line so very convenient for a bit of exercise, will be staying there again soon, everything was excellent
This is a nice hotel with good amenities. While it’s not in the city center it’s also not far from it and it’s only about a 5-10 minute taxi ride away. The room was larger than expected, especially since I’m used to hotel rooms in Europe being so small! The room had a nice nespresso machine and even offered room service which was perfect when I didn’t feel like venturing out! It was a great place to lay my head after a busy day of touring the area and I would stay here again!
Location was perfect, right in the heart of or very close to many shops & pubs. Was fun to be in the center of activity. We also liked the quirky set up of the rooms. There is no elevator, but help was there for assistance with bags. I was traveling with my daughter, and we felt very safe. It was our first time to Ireland, and Rory was extremely helpful with suggestions, directions, taxi's, etc. Look for him when you stay there!
The suite/room we stayed in was by far the best room we have had in Ireland. The staff omg 100 per cent and more. I don’t think I have ever stayed anywhere and recieved this high level of customer care. Breakfast amazing, and the room was amazing. Over 30 years we have been coming to all parts of Ireland and this is by far the best hotel we have stayed in. Thank you to all the staff you are amazing
The owners are very nice and helpful, the breakfast was amazing. The rooms are very quiet. Walking Distance (about 15 min.) from Salt Hill village Center, with good restaurants and the unique bar "O Connors". There's a bus to Galway City centre every 30 Minutes, you reach the next bus stop in 3 min walking distance. We would definitely stay here again! :)
This townhouse had the perfect location just off of Eyre Square but still so close to everything, train station and city center. Excellent coffee shops all around. The owners were very nice and we appreciated that we could leave our bags so we could walk around before our train. It was a very clean hotel.
Very friendlly, easy-going and accommodating hosts! We loved the location in Salthill, west of the city center, since more quiet, neverthelless easily to be reached by bus (15 minutes drive, stops in front of the hotel) or by walking (very nice 30 min walk on the promenade along the seaside).
The best stay in Ireland so far. Better than some 4 star hotels in Dublin. The check-in and out were smooth and easy, the room has exceeded our expectations. Very clean, with a big shower and nice mini fridge and coffee serving. It also seemed like it was recently refurbished or brand new.
The hosts were amazing, meet us are the door and welcomed us in. The breakfast was the best we had the best we had the entire trip to Ireland! They were very accommodating and were great people to talk too.
It is walking distance to town center for pubs and entertainment.
This hotel is class! It's dead clean, not too far from the city center, just a handy 30-40 minute walk, and the rooms are seriously roomy. The car park is massive and free, which is a bonus. I absolutely loved it!
It's a great location, only 20 min walk to city centre.. Clean rooms. Staff was friendly. The breakfast buffet was very extensive and fresh. Would definitely stay there again. Highly recommend!
I found it to be perfect for me. Clean room, Comfy bed and no mix ups or problems with the hotel. Bang centre on Salthill and only a short bus to Galway city centre. Would stay again.
The place was within walking distance to the city Centre. It was very quaint. Clean. The brothers were friendly, helpful, kind. The breakfast was good. Variety of foods.
The hotel is conveniently located in the city center, the staff is very kind, friendly and helpful. The breakfast was very good too. We loved the Christmas decoration!
The hotel is centrally located just off the Eyre Park. It was easy to walk right into the city center, but also stay a bit outside of it. It has a lovely exterior.
Very close to all that one needs. Breakfast/cafe nearby, shops, take aways and hospital. Close to bus routes as well to get in and out of galway city centre.
