Welcoming Galway is a small city with fantastic nightlife and an infectious atmosphere. Outside of the Galway Arts Festival, there’s still plenty of live music in the Irish pubs to get the party started.
The Galway Races at Ballybrit Race Course west of Galway Airport attract a good crowd, as does Eyre Square, a green space with flags of previous ruling families who gave it its nickname - City of Tribes. To the south are cobbled streets housing brightly colored shops and restaurants.
Sights in Galway include its cathedral and city museum which has an interesting insight into the history of the city and Ireland. Lynch’s Castle is the last remaining 17th-century merchant house, and the Spanish Arch is a small section of city walls by the Corrib River, linking Galway Bay to huge Loch Corrib. Where river and ocean meet is Claddagh Park, a great spot for a picnic with a view.
Further around the coast is Salthill Promenade, home to Atlantaquaria, Ireland’s national aquarium, focussing on sealife off Irish shores. It’s a Christmas Day tradition to jump from Blackrock Diving Tower nearby into the icy Atlantic Ocean, though you may well spot some wag giving it a go.
Booking.com has an excellent range of Galway hotels, apartments and B&Bs to complete your stay.

Galway was a great place to start our touring along the Wild Atlantic Way meandering along the coastline and through the national parks. Galway City has plenty to offer with great food, accommodation, cafes, walks, shopping, even catching the bus to Salthill and walk along the promenade and least but not last great Guinness.

Lovely town , and a great base to travel from if you have a car. Lots of bars and restaurants in the town, many with live traditional music. Plenty of attractions within a 2 hour drive ... Cliffs of Moher, Aran Islands, Westport and Clonmacnoise, to name but a few ...

I wish I could say I loved my time in Galway.
I wish I could say I loved my time in Galway. After spending 9 days touring Ireland, Galway felt like a tourist trap. I have heard great things about this town so was really disappointed. It was a cute town, but extremely busy and packed full of tourists. We had a hard time getting dinner and missed hanging out with locals. The only bright spot about that day was that the Leonardo hotel was wonderful! It was a fantastic location, easy to get in and out of, clean and bright. Really fantastic breakfast!

Lovely family holiday in Spiddal where some of my in-laws family lived. Galway is so lovely but did not get to enjoy the city this time around. We did however come in the city to do the Corrib River boat cruise which was thoroughly enjoyable. Had a lovely coffee and cannoli at Bar Italia Ciarlantini while waiting to board the ferry.

Very friendly and helpful staff and we received an upgrade on arrival. Room was very clean and tidy. Plenty of towels in the bathroom and even a bath with our shower. Evening meal was excellent at a very reasonable cost . Breakfast buffet was exceptional with a vast verity to choose from including vegetarian. There was a public bus stop just outside the wall of the the hotel going in and out of town every day mostly every 30 minutes. It’s only a 20 minutes casual walk in a straight line so very convenient for a bit of exercise, will be staying there again soon, everything was excellent
The heated pool and spa area was so great- just what we needed after a long day of travel.
The decor is great around the hotel. The room well designed- the Bluetooth speaker and robes were a welcome touch.
The bed was very comfortable and cosy (note we upgraded to a king size bed which was 2 beds pushed together. Not an issue for us but might be for some people).
Breakfast was delicious and staff so friendly.
Location is close to the city center while avoiding the noise!
Breakfast was delicious. Great location for touring the Connemara Coast and very close to Galway City. Lovely view from Penthouse suite. The attention to detail at this Guesthouse was superb. Complimentary snacks and beverages, his and hers toweling robes, toiletries etc.. The host Fred was so helpful and considerate. All Covid precautions were in place so you felt safe but they were not intrusive. I would highly recommend Sea Breeze for a holiday in the West of Ireland.
Room was spacious and all amenities expected were provided. The included breakfast was great and the service staff was friendly and attentive. Location is perfect for those with a rental car touring Ireland. The hotel has its own parking area and it's only a 20 minute or so walk to downtown Galway, which is very busy with car traffic and is a hard place to find parking. The Menlo Park Hotel is an excellent place to stay just outside of the city center for a good value.
Location was perfect, right in the heart of or very close to many shops & pubs. Was fun to be in the center of activity. We also liked the quirky set up of the rooms. There is no elevator, but help was there for assistance with bags. I was traveling with my daughter, and we felt very safe. It was our first time to Ireland, and Rory was extremely helpful with suggestions, directions, taxi's, etc. Look for him when you stay there!
Temperature in the room and throughout hotel was perfect, never got that stuffy, too warm feeling. Very clean everywhere and could see the effort they went to in order to keep it clean and in line with covid policy. Staff all friendly and helpful. Location is easy to use as a base for travelling to Salthill / city centre and other areas of rural Galway.
The hotel is recently renovated and very clean. Easy access to the city center.
What is exceptional for us; was the treatment of the staff in special the receptionist Maria and the General Manager Seamus. They were absolutely amazing, helpful and excellent professionals. For sure makes a huge difference to have those people around.
Breakfast was great, and the owners were so nice! It wasn’t as modern as we’re used to (from other hotels), but it was enough! We had a comfy bed and hot water, which is all you need. :) The location is a plus, within 20 minutes you’re in the city center of Galway by bus, and Salthill promenade is just a 10 minute walk away.
Very clean, fresh and functional. Great location - a quiet cul-de-sac right next to a cove, but within easy reach of the main tourist area along the coast. Great pre-arrival communication, easy parking and entry, very well set up, and best of all - pet friendly!! There are not enough pet friendly hotels in Ireland.
The hotel is lovely and we had a wonderful view of the ocean. Several times we ate at the bar and the food was good with excellent service and value. We could easily walk to the city center of Galway in about 20 minutes. The room was quiet and comfortable.
Location was very good, short walk (<10 minutes) to city centre while also being in a very quiet, safe residential area. The rooms were very cleaned and came with toiletries and linen that was freshly clean. Beds and pillows were very comfortable as well.
10 min walk into the city centre and lovely location with everything you need on your doorstep Frank the owner is a gentleman and couldn't do enough the rooms are immaculate I'd give 5 stars for your value for money in the best city in Ireland
Single rooms for all family members, at the end of the trip to Ireland this was perfect. Lots of room for all eight of us.
Also, bus was very convenient for transport to Galway center. Staff was very helpful. Excellent stay.
The best b&b in the city.lovely family with a breakfast more than a hotel menu.Caroline and John makes us comfortable like our home. beach side stay with comfort and peace.City centre 20
minutes walk.
I found it to be perfect for me. Clean room, Comfy bed and no mix ups or problems with the hotel. Bang centre on Salthill and only a short bus to Galway city centre. Would stay again.
