An Oasis in the Middle of Florence Hills!
There couldn’t be a better place to start our vacation from.
This little gem in Fiesole, one of the elite areas outside the chaotic and touristic City of Florence, was for us literally an oasis.
We had just landed in Rome after a 24 hour long flight departed from Sydney, Australia and we were driving north. Temperature was hellish and highway congested.
We soon realized that we were in no condition to continue our trip without a stop. It was a very last minute booking and we were lucky we found a room available.
Although we only had given Gennaro and Marianna, the owners, 2 hours notice of our arrival, they both immediately did everything possible to make our stay as comfortable as possible.
Once arrived at the location, we were fascinated by this 15th century building and its surroundings. It was immersed in the nature, so silent, so quiet, we almost felt we did not want to break that magic.
Inside, the building, the rooms, the breakfast hall were in rustic style furnished and decorated in line with the building. This little oasis only has 4 rooms, which keeps the chaos from checking in and out away.
Our room, a double one, with ensuite bathroom was clean and tidy, with a balcony overlooking the super view of the surrounding nature.
Breakfast was perfect and abundant. You would not get anything near that with 20Euros in any nearby bar in Fiesole.
Gennaro and Marianna are a young couple that truly love what they do. You can feel how passionate they are about their job. We could see and feel how all that passion was turned into high quality service.
Moreover, the location is only 10mins drive from Florence city centre, has a free parking included which made us save roughly 40euro per night.
We felt home, and definitely will stay again at “Florence Country Relais”.
Offering an outdoor pool, Agriturismo Poggiopiano offers a quiet stay on the hills 5 mi from Florence city center, produces their own wines and organic extra virgin olive oil.

The purpose our visit to Fiesole was to celebrate our friend's birthday whom we had not seen for years. We had never heard of Fiesole, but they were staying there for a 3 week holiday (from Canada) and so we joined them with zero expectations. Fiesole was absolutely lovely, and frankly two days was not enough. We ate very well at local restaurants and visited the lovely Franciscan monastery on top of the hill, which is well worth a look. An incredible museum with Chinese coins dating back to the 100AC (!) and an Egyptian mummified kitten amongst other extremely old antiquities! Was not expecting that LOL!
View of Florence is spectacular from Fiesole, and to think you are in a small little quiet 'village' just 20 mins drive away.

Nestled in the hills just a stone's throw away from Florence, Fiesole is a quaint Italian town that may not boast an extensive list of attractions, but it captivates visitors with its serene ambiance and unparalleled vistas of the Tuscan capital. If you're in search of a peaceful escape from the hustle and bustle of Florence, Fiesole is the perfect destination.

We did not see much of Fiesole because our stay was short and we were focused on Florence but we would really like to have visited the Roman ruins of Fiesole. The part of town that we stayed in has a nice piazza with a restaurant, an ice-cream parlor and a really yummy food truck. It is really well connected to Florence (a cheap bus takes you to the city in 20 min. and it comes every 15 so it is really convenient). The restaurant has a gorgeous view of the whole valley with Florence in the middle. We also saw the post office and a grocery store around there. It is really a pleasant town with a lot to offer.

Quaint little town on the hill above Florence, easily accesable by bus from the centre of Florence. There are few restaurants and cafe's in the centre and also a historic centre with Roman ruins and a museum. We had 3 nights tehre, but could have easily stayd more, as the vibe of the small time is great and if you get bored you can easily go to Florence and back.

Fiesole is a beautiful vibrant village in the hills above Florence. Wonderful views back towards the city. Fascinating history to explore. The perfect place to stay out of the hustle of the city and only a 20 odd minute bus trip away. Lots of great bars and restaurants. A well stocked small supermarket. We love Fiesole.

Deliberately booked fiesole as didn't want the chaos of florence centre. However, there is a number 7 bus that goes back and forth 1.50 euro takes about 22 mins and very frequent.I believe would get a better class hotel in centre and yes same price or less .The walks are tiring around fiesole but views worth it. we were lucky sun was shining each day. some amazing sunsets about 7pm.Little cake shop towards bottom hill ALCEDO cheapest coffee to go and amazing cakes.Coop sells all need to make picnics as food is very costly
The staff were amazing before we turned up, whatsapping messages even though they weren't at work. The facilities were very comfortable, with an amazing view, a peaceful village, and the Florence locals calling it the balcony overlooking their city. Everything you needed was in Fiesole, mini-market, chemist, deli, bars, restaurants, local bus service, awardwinning 16k cycle route, with Fiesole being its highest point! and an amazing viewpoint over Florence, with a beautiful church. The village also has its own cathedral.
What a gem this place is! It is so quiet and has a real Tuscany vibe yet so close to Florence( bus 7 was very handy). The place is sparkling clean and the host went above and beyond to take care of our needs.
She checked us in the after hours when we were delayed because of a missing luggage. She gave us her personal phone number and was only a text away responding to every need we had. Room was cleaned and towels were changed every day. AC was running great.
I will miss the abundant breakfast and the cappuccinos.
The staff communicated very well & were most helpful with questions, calling a taxi etc
We chose Fiesole because it is in the hills over looking Florence so it is scenic, less crowded, quieter & cooler in temperature. There are fascinating Roman & Etruscan ruins plus an excellent museum of antiquities in Fiesole. Lots of choice for little cafes, bars & restaurants within easy walking distance of hotel Villa Bonelli. We would love to return & thoroughly recommend this hotel.
Always Stay Here. Clean, efficient, much more peaceful than staying in Florence! Well-managed and friendly. Good value for money. Fiesole has plenty of nice little promenades, bakeries, and a grocery store convenient to the apartment. It's easy to get supplies for breakfast and eat on your balcony in the morning overlooking a panoramic view of the hills! Washing machine and microwave are nice to have.
Fiesole is a great place to base a visit to Florence and the Roman Amphitheatre is a must visit. We were expecting to be able to walk to the centre and bus stop, but further than we anticipated and no pavement so need to drive to village and park in free car park 400m from the bus stop. Busses are regular and only €1.50 to city.
Room was large and clean and breakfast adequate.
It is a unique place to stay. Very charming and beautiful.
The staff are wonderful, warm and friendly.
The breakfast is great and the half board-(Evening set menu) is superb.
It is peaceful, relaxing way to enjoy Florence which a short bus ride away.
It is so lovely, I could stay there and never even go into Florence.
I am looking forward to returning.
Lovely place. We got the room from the street side, but the window was perfect, so we were not able to hear anything. Great breakfast with a lovely staff member. We had a great chat about Italy, culture, etc. Great coffee and great food. We were able to leave our luggage and go for a walk the next day, so that was very nice of the team to let us do it :)
It was authentically decorated, exceptionally clean, the bed was so comfortable and the location was fabulous. High ceilings, spacious and really worth a stay. Fiesole is quiet, ideal for couples and has lovely local restaurants. The bus journey into Florence is about 25mins but is dependent on traffic. We were happy not to be in the busy tourist area.
We loved the hilltop mansion and grounds as well as its proximity to everything. AnaLisa and Ezio are gracious and caring. Their food is truly wonderful and they are very good at directing you to areas of interest.
They’re native to Florence and know everything! We took a day trip to Venice on the FrecciaRossa… it was great!!
We received a very warm, welcoming and homey stay! Amazing! Got so many good suggestions and help. Could also lend family bicycles, which made the journey to Florence very nice and easy. Breakfast according to your wishes and preferences, delicious!
Very quiet neighborhood. Nice to walk by the river.
Everything was perfect! It is a wonderful B&B in Fiesole, runned by a very courteous family. Communication, comfort, cleanliness are immaculate and the center of Fiesole and Florence are easily accessible. I would book it again, at any time!
very close to the bus station! can easily get to Florence in about 20 minutes. we found a very nice grocery store nearby and we’re able to use the fridge and kitchen for all our items. The lady who owns the building is incredibly kind.
Great location in Fiesole, easy to get to when you have a car (and even if you don’t, there is a bus stop just next to the hotel). The staff was nice and helpful, the hotel in itself is really pretty the rooms are clean.
An amazing place, a hidden gem. Perfect for a peaceful and relaxing stay when it's 30+ degrees down in Florence. Unbelievable views, great service! Very cozy rooms and overall the place is wonderful.
