The staff was really great answering all questions and helping us with everything. The breakfast was superb. The location was close to the Lucca wall and was easy walking. Parking was great. We loved drinking the wine recommended by Anna on the terrace. We would recommend anyone to stay there.

Basic but very clean. Easy to reach from the railway station. Helpful staff,
This friendly, family-run hotel is ideally located just outside the ancient walls of Lucca, just 328 feet from the main train station. Free Wi-Fi is available throughout.

Very efficient check-in by friendly front desk staff. Because we were traveling by train, the location literally just steps from the station couldn't have been more convenient. It was an easy five minute walk into the old town. Although there was street construction in front of the hotel, it didn't affect the walk into old town or create noise problems at all.
Villa Volpi has a peaceful hilltop location and a swimming pool with sun terrace offering panoramic views out over the Tuscan countryside. The town of Lucca is a 15-minute drive away.

It is unfortunate that this lovely villa is so poorly run and a bit difficult to access. We never met our host and he was remiss in supplying us info for our stay including initially giving us an address that did not work with GPS. The road up to the villa is wide enough for one car.
We made arrangements with the other guests to time our travel to avoid blocking the road. We will not return and can not recommend this property.

Superb accommodation, the villa we stayed in was spacious with a nice private terrace outside & the pool gave great views over the surrounding countryside.
There are only 5 villas on the site so was very tranquil & the nearby village has a supermarket & a few bars.
Our host was very obliging & was always hearby if we needed anything.

Agriturismo Il Pino is a beautiful, relaxing place to stay.
Agriturismo Il Pino is a beautiful, relaxing place to stay. The pool and views are great. Laura and Tania are really accomodating and sweet hosts. It's quite remote at the top of the hill - you will definitely need a car, it would not be realistic to walk 2.5km up and down the steep hill to the village regularly - but a good base for trips all across Tuscany, particularly Lucca and Viareggio. Make sure you buy some of the lovely jam and olive oil they make.
We went with our two year old and it's probably better suited to slightly older kids, just because of the hilly, winding nature of the complex. Also, there was only a shower and no bath in our apartment, which our little boy wasn't very happy with!
Things to note: the listing says oven, but there is no oven, just a gas countertop stove. This is fine but limits your cooking options a bit. Also, there is WiFi but in our apartment it was quite slow and didn't reach into the living room, which made movie nights a bit tough (there's no DVD player and only Italian TV). There's nowhere to eat on-site in the evenings and no takeaways, so if you need to stay in like we did with our little one be prepared to brush up on cooking your Italian classics! And bring some books and games.
It was a really beautiful and rustic spot but when we stay again we would probably do a few days as part of trip to multiple places rather than nearly two weeks.
