The location in terms of scenery is fantastic although hard to reach if you don't get a driver. The pool is really nice along with the staff. The only thing which I think it must improve is the quality of food, specially the breakfast.

Unfortunately not a lot here.
Rooms don’t look the same as the pictures and when I arrived, my room was covered in more ants than I’ve ever seen in my life. Bedding was stained and the hot water didn’t work.

A cultural eye-opener.
A cultural eye-opener. Lots to see and do - but most major attractions are spread far from one another. Expect to take a couple full days touring Kandy and the surrounding areas. Two of my strongest recommendations: the British Was Cemetery. The caretaker has tended the graveyard for decades and knows each detail about each soul laid to rest. Also a sight worth seeing is Peradeniya University. A remarkable campus that lives up to its reputation as one of the nicest in all of South Asia.

The botanical gardens was amazing and really value to visit.
The botanical gardens was amazing and really value to visit. I didn't interested to see the famous temple and another one important thing is in commuting hours the traffic jam was remarkable and every one should calculate staying in the traffic in their schedule .

Transit point to big attractions in Sri Lanka. Ie.
Transit point to big attractions in Sri Lanka. Ie. Ella, Sigriya, Dambulla and Polonaruwa. Gateway to mountainous region of Sri Lanka. Kandy is also a historical town with famous Temple of Tooth. This town is best served with affordable eateries and several modes of transportation. Cooler weather compared to the Sri Lankan capital city, Colombo.

An ancient hill capital, a religious city.
An ancient hill capital, a religious city. Has a lot to offer. Range of good restaurants, affordable.
beautiful scenery, friendly people, gem stores, shopping malls - overall a good city.
Sometimes heavy traffic.
One of the city in Sri Lanka that has Pick Me (local version of Uber) in use, avoids unnecessary negotiations with three wheelers and taxis
Location was fantastic, it overlooked Kandy on a quiet hillside, whilst only being a short drive via tuk tuk into town. Great walks around the hotel that lead into some quieter tea plantations and temples to visit.
Staff were very helpful and always keen have a chat and offer tips for exploring the local area.
Facilities were wonderful, there's a pool area that overlooks Kandy and you can sit out and watch over the hills and city. The food served in the restaurant was delicious, would recommend trying the Sri Lankan breakfast!
The owner was very obliging and kind. The room was extremely clean and comfortable, the view from the hotel was breath taking.Very quite and not too far from town. The staff (Sithija,Duminda & sandaruwan) was so helpful and very caring. They cooked us Sri lankan Rice & curry for our dinner. It was really delicious. They organised lovely tour to sigiriya with owner Gihan. That is our one of the best tour in Sri Lanka.I would recommend this lovely place to anyone that really needs peace and quiet. value for money..
Thank you
We are a Norwegian couple. We stayed at Kandy Hills for 5 nights.
The hotel is very clean, and the rooms are spacious and luxurious. They also have room service.
The staff is super friendly and helpful. They helped us book train tickets, arrange transports and plan our trip for the rest of our stay in Sri Lanka.
The view from our room was amazing. The area is peacefull, yet very close to downtown. We walked to City Center many times.
Will absolutely recommend. Best hotel in Kandy and very good value for money.
If you are looking for a bit secluded location in Kandy, this might be the right choice. The property is located on the hill with narrow roads leading to it, booking a tuktuk or a car is recommended. Walking from downtown Kandy is also doable and takes about 30 mins. The owners, a family, are very welcoming and kitchen here is very tasty! Rooms are modern and of superior quality, totally up to western standards. Garden had beautifully bloooming trees, which added to the overall experience :)
The hotel is amazing, rooms are spacious and very beautifully decorated. The view on the mountains from the terrace is breathtaking.
Rooms are clean, cosy and comfortable.
Very friendly and professional staff. We had tasty Sri Lankan breakfast with variety of dishes prepared specially for us.
Hotel is hidden up in the mountains, if you enjoy walking, in around 40 min.it is possible to walk down to the town, observing the area around, or you can take a tuk-tuk.
Never forget a singing bird and one of the best scentic spot in balcony in the morning, really beautiful that in first day of stay, I added one night more to stay there in kandy, great facilities and nice staff, Shehani reservations person was very responsible, Harsheny nice in reception, in these day of Sri Lanka electricity cut for many hours, staying in hotel like this make it very comfortable with good generators, everything was great
For the price it's a great deal as long as you're aware of the compromises.
It's got nice rooms (including clean washrooms), working hot water, and a nice pool.
To top it off, the views are amazing especially from the roof top.
Fairly close by to Kandy city (5-10 mins) by a cab as well.
Overall, a great hotel for a short stay. But if they can fix the things mentioned below they'd be perfect
Great location in the middle of town and not noisy. The room was comfortable and I loved the old furniture and style. Nice to have toiletries. Breakfast was predominantly good - best fruit platter I've had in Sri Lanka in 8 weeks, basket of bakery products (see negatives below), a cooked Western breakfast, juice, tea/coffee. Nice hotel with areas guests can visit that are full of old photos, etc.
The best hotel we stayed at during our time in Sri Lanka! Amazing views across Kandy lake and the staff are all lovely, going above and beyond expectations.
We would especially like to mention one of the managers Asanka who went out of his way to ensure our stay was nothing but spectacular.
Would definitely recommend this hotel if you’re staying Kandy, you’ll not be disappointed.
This hotel is very close to the Temple and the lake and right in Kandy.
All the double rooms were very clean and we had a nice balcony room.
The reception staff and breakfast staff were excellent. Very helpful and friendly.
The top floor bar was excellent, air conditioned and two balconies.
Breakfast was buffet style with some traditional Sri Lankan food.
Our best stay in Sri Lanka by far. Rooms felt like a very high end hotel, mattress extra comfortable, AC, good hot water, and a generator which is key nowadays in Sri Lanka with power outages. We loved the location, out from the hustle of the city but still very close. Great value for money, I highly recommend.
Our room with lake view was very spacious, with a 'living room' area with TV and couch, and a kitchenette. The bathroom had a great shower with ample hot water. The staff were very attentive. An excellent location in Kandy as it is close to lake level: we could easily walk to the town centre.
I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at your hotel. The balcony area was perfect for spending time with friends, offering a stunning view. The staff's friendly and communicative approach made the experience even better. Additionally, the central location in Kandy town made getting around hassle-free.
I will come to this Amazing Hotel again an again. I can say best ever stay in Kandy. The Best Hotel in Kandy. Price is reasonable food is amazing. Staff and the owner, they are cool guys !. I highly recommend Hotel Cassendra if you are seeking a place in Kandy
We liked that it's a whole big apartment with two bathrooms, so it's s real change from other similar priced places. The view over Kandy is magnificent and the air much cleaner than in downtown. The host was very helpful and ready to help with all our queries.
I love the location. The area is safe for a solo woman traveller. The staff is also friendly. I would highly suggest this hotel as this is close to Kandy train track. And the people in the city are mostly kind enough to help. And they mostly leave you alone.
Very comfy bed, great shower, good breakfast and super helpful/friendly staff in the perfect location in town, really short walk from the Cultural Center, Tooth-Temple, lake and the city center. Best hotel I've stayed in Sri Lanka so far!!
The best place i've stayed in sri lanka so far. The beds and pillows are heavenly, the staff are so kind and warm, and the hotel is in a great location to see what Kandy has to offer. I wish I could have stayed there longer
