We stayed at this hidden gem with our family of 4 during a rainy period. The hotel and garden are beautiful and clean. The view is amazing. It’s located outside of the city, which we really liked because it was peaceful.
The personnel of this hotel were super friendly and helpful. Breakfast was very good, more than enough food. We had dinner once in the restaurant and recommend to try the Sri Lanka curry.
My oldest son, my husband and I had a very relaxing afternoon getting a spa treatment very good with reasonable price. This place is definitely worth a visit.

If you are traveling from Colombo and back 2for one night stay in Kandy the plan should be 1. Breakfast at Ginadasa Thalaguli restaurant 2. Visit Gadaladeniya Temple 3. Lankathilaka Temple 4. Embakka Devalaya (Temple) 5. Peradeniya Royal Botanical Garden (take the electric car) 6. late Lunch at Royal Mall Peradeniya 7, Strait to your Hotel check in 8. around 4.00 pm You may visit Sandagiri seya (Sthupa at the top of a mountain) 9. Then the Famous Temple of tooth relic (Before 8.00 pm) 10. Dinner at KCC 11, Back to Hotel. Day 02 on your way to Colombo. 12. Tea museum (Enjoy the ice mint tea) and don't forget to buy tea (40% discount) 13. Bird park (I personally don't like and waste of time and money, they should have done better in line with nature rather than being too artificial) 14. Pinnawala Elephant orphanage (Elephant bath at 2.00 pm) 14. Lunch at Pinnawala 15. Pinnawala zoo (I didn't go) 16. Back to Colombo.

A cultural eye-opener.
A cultural eye-opener. Lots to see and do - but most major attractions are spread far from one another. Expect to take a couple full days touring Kandy and the surrounding areas. Two of my strongest recommendations: the British Was Cemetery. The caretaker has tended the graveyard for decades and knows each detail about each soul laid to rest. Also a sight worth seeing is Peradeniya University. A remarkable campus that lives up to its reputation as one of the nicest in all of South Asia.

The botanical gardens was amazing and really value to visit.
The botanical gardens was amazing and really value to visit. I didn't interested to see the famous temple and another one important thing is in commuting hours the traffic jam was remarkable and every one should calculate staying in the traffic in their schedule .

Transit point to big attractions in Sri Lanka. Ie.
Transit point to big attractions in Sri Lanka. Ie. Ella, Sigriya, Dambulla and Polonaruwa. Gateway to mountainous region of Sri Lanka. Kandy is also a historical town with famous Temple of Tooth. This town is best served with affordable eateries and several modes of transportation. Cooler weather compared to the Sri Lankan capital city, Colombo.
This place is amazing! It has an amazing pool area where you can relax and watch the sunset over the city. Also, the terrace and indoor area is beautiful and easy to socialise with other guests. The interior of the rooms and bathrooms is also very beautiful. The shower was the best I had in Sri Lanka and finally hot water!! Also, I met some lovely other solo traveler. The location is very nice - just a little bit out of the noisy Kandy up a hill to relax after a full day in the city. But still, you are just a quick Tuktuk drive away.
Being a new building on the edge of town, the hotel was clean and fresh. Just a quick and cheap Uber /tuk tuk ride into town, I liked being a bit removed from the centre as the hotel was quiet and peaceful with a lovely view over to the mountains. There was also a desk so I could work and the balcony was also a nice retreat to be outside. All of the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. I ate quite a few meals at the hotel and they were some of my favourites in Sri Lanka so far. I’d highly recommend this property.
We were upgraded for free to a larger room. The rooftop pool is nice, and the restaurant served the best food we had while in Sri Lanka (breakfast is amazing - including the homemade jams) with a great view of Kandy. Location is right in the centre but it's not noisy in the rooms. Staff were very welcoming and accommodating with our questions to arrange transport and various excursions including an ayurvedic massage which we enjoyed. For the price the hotel was definitely worth it.
Wow, what views. We stayed up on the top floor with floor to ceiling window overlooking jungle... it was an AMAZING sight to wake up to each morning. As the hotel is a little out of the city it is VERY QUIET, just nature sounds at night. Although out of town, its still an easy walk down the hill and around the lake into the city... would definitely recommend a tuk tuk back up the hill though! We're off to stay there again when we're back in Kandy.
The location was good only 1.9km from railway station but because ti is new, no-one knew where the hotel was, TukTuk driver eventually found it as his grandmother lives in the area. You cannot walk to anywhere you need transport to get down into the town.
Breakfast was ok but very expensive for what it was. $15pp. During our time travelling around Sri Lanka, we never paid much more than 1200 SLR (£3).
Great location in the middle of town and not noisy. The room was comfortable and I loved the old furniture and style. Nice to have toiletries. Breakfast was predominantly good - best fruit platter I've had in Sri Lanka in 8 weeks, basket of bakery products (see negatives below), a cooked Western breakfast, juice, tea/coffee. Nice hotel with areas guests can visit that are full of old photos, etc.
View, Location, Room, Architecture were all exceptional. Highly recommended. Short steep hill to climb to get to hotel, but that is what provides the wonderful lake view. Short walk to town and markets, and tooth temple a reasonable walk, also. Nice a la carte breakfast either Sri Lankan or western. Staff were all very nice and professional.
Very friendly owners clean room with great view from the terrace. Quiet area up in the hills just 20 mins walk into Kandy centre. There is a good indian restaurant for dinner and supermarket just 5 mins walk if you do not want to go into town. Otherwise the owner will call a tuk-tuk for you which costs a couple dollars. Good homemade srilankan breakfast.
Large bed with clean beddings. Through the balcony you could have a view of the Kandy lake. The bathroom is also satisfactory with the best hot water for shower. The pizza upstairs was amazing as it was commented by other reviewers. The hotel prepared seriously English breakfast. Recommend to have local snacks in the market stands near Kandy river.
Exceptional place to stay. The best food we had in Sri Lanka, superb rooms and view and wonderful staff who went above and beyond to make our stay a memorable one, including driving us to our next stay near to the airport prior to going home. We walked the first part of the Pekoa Trail after being dropped off by tuk tuk from the hotel. Stunning.
Excellent hotel in a perfect location. Best breakfast in Sri Lanka so far (Sri Lankan + waffles yum:) Staff very attentive and room very comfortable. we had a premier king room at the back of the hotel (forest view) which was very quiet! Our new favourite hotel in Kandy will come again! BYOB.
Clean rooms, Bathrooms with good & quiet AC units. Great location in the city of Kandy. Even though it’s a busy area in day time you can’t hear much noise to the room that we booked and very quiet in the night.
There is a restaurant across the road where you can get amazing Sri Lankan food.
The hotel exceeded our expectations. The staff was very friendly and helpful, the room was nice, spacious, and clean, and had a beautiful view of Kandy. The food was actually some of the best we have had in Sri Lanka. Would highly recommend to anyone visiting Kandy.
Of all the locations in Kandy, this hotel is fantastic. A tiny walk from the entrance to the Temple of the Tooth makes it ideal for a tourist stay. Very affordable. Rooms are small. Kind Sri Lankan service as was experienced throughout the whole country.
For the price paid, there is nothing to complain. I've paid similar prices and had far worse hotels in Sri Lanka. This hotel is basic, but I does everything properly. The two gentlemen working below clearly want to do the best for their guests.
Beautiful wooden Interior aspect of the hotel overlooking to hills of Kandy. Spacious and Trendy rooms. Tasty breakfast and helpful staff. And they have a great restaurant at the top of the building serves super tasty foods.
Staff was very friendly. Best breakfast we had so far in Sri Lanka with an awesome view. The hotel is located on a hill with a nice view over Kandy. It's a nice place to escape the crowded city.
Very comfortable, clean and well located as it is walking distance from downtown Kandy. Lovely breakfast and the best hospitality from Selyna. A great place to stay and a very cute dog
The rooms were clean, very comfortable, and the staff was amazing. They went over and beyond to help make our stay enjoyable. I highly recommend this hotel for anyone visiting Kandy.
