We stayed here for one night in April, on the way to Belize to catch the morning trip by water taxi. For that purpose, the hotel is good enough and provided most of what we needed.
The room was relatively small, but comfortable and good enough for one night of good sleep after spending most of the day on the road.
You can either walk from here to the boat, count with approx. 5-10 minutes. You can also call an Uber, expect a fare of less than 5 USD.

I remember like propably 10 years ago, people use to go to chetumal especially to have a lunch at calderitas but dont see calderitas the way it use to be. the government needs to promote more that area. Also the city center, there are some places that are vandalized by graffiti which gives it an odd. I cannot complain about the night life at the malecon, its really lively with many arts, concerts and food vendor. That gives it a plus. I like that now you have uber. It does help alot for me

The local Maya Museum has a very interesting cultural approach for those who have no prior knowledge about this people, but has a painstakingly small collection, I don t think there are more than 15 original items on display, though some of them quite wonderful. The archaeological sites nearby are very hard to access other than by rented car, which are pretty sparse, too. Some are even closed to the public, without bothering to state that online.

Chetumal is a great tourist destination.
Chetumal is a great tourist destination. The food and entertainments are great. I enjoy the places that have the live singers in there. The only recommendation I would have is they need to have at least one representative in their business that can assist with the tourist that speak little or no Spanish. They are very few places that makes the effort to accommodate the language difference. Other than that they are very welcoming to Belizeans at least when I am there I feel welcomed.

The room was clean, the air condition frost 😊, bathroom functions great which is always a deal breaker when the water or toilet delays. So full points there. Honestly the only thing that would have made the experience better was the absence of a mini refridge which would have been good to have and also if the tv was smart. People want to be able to stream stuff. For a luxury hotel it needs to upgrade with this generation.

Chetumal is a regional destination, not an international destination. Do not plan an overseas vacation to Chetumal. If you live in Belize or southern Yucatan, you already know that Chetumal is a decent place for shopping, restaurants, and entertainment. That is because Chetual is the largest city in the region.
We had a great stay at the Hotel Lagoon. The hotel is really beautiful and private with a nice swimming pool. It also faces a lagoon that's really nice to look at. The staff was very friendly and helpful and the breakfast was very good. It's also conveniently close to the Belizean border.
I'll start with the positive. The location of the hotel was perfect for us and the things we wanted to do in Chetumal. We have parking available for free. The rooms were clean, comfortable, had hot water, AC's that worked, perfect water pressure, and the toilets flushed properly.
Great location, close to the centre of town, and right on the Malecon. The hotel was pretty quiet, and the pool was good. The room was small but perfectly fine for a short stay. Breakfast was good. The staff were very helpful, and friendly.
Juanita went above and beyond, helping us order a taxi for early in the morning and relieving our stress.
The hotel is in a great location, right near the sea with lots of good places to eat at nearby.
Soap and shampoo, towel, clean room. AC ok. Cheap: just what I needed for 1 night. The staff was real nice and you can drop your bag there if you arrived before check-in time.
It is walking distance from the international ferry. the rooftop pool at just is very cool. Super handy to have Enterprise/National car rental in the hotel.
