Faro is the picturesque capital of the Algarve region, offering colourful streets and buildings, Moorish influence, and typical Portuguese charm. It is encompassed by the lagoon of Ria Formosa Natural Park, and offers wide beaches, a laid-back atmosphere, and a vibrant nightlife.
Occupied by Phoenicians and Carthaginians, and once an important Roman harbour and Moorish culture capital, it was almost flattened by the 1755 earthquake. Happily, the historic centre survived and is today one of best preserved in Algarve. Choosing a hotel in Faro’s Old Town will allow you to have a more authentic Portuguese experience.
The long, sandy beach of Praia de Faro is 7 km from the city, and the beach on Barreta Island –also known as Deserta - is probably the most tranquil in the region. Hotels near the beach in Faro and the surrounding towns of Olhão, Tavira, Quinta do Lago, Quarteira and Vilamoura, are all excellent ways to enjoy sunny Portugal.
Faro International Airport offers connections throughout Europe, and the city also offers ferry, railway, and bus links. Whether you need a beach resort or a hotel near Faro Airport, check out the wide offer available on Booking.com!
Friendly people. Lots of great restaurants and great food reasonably priced. Not much to see in the city. Small streets and lot of cars with no place to park. Hard walking city due to unlevel streets and sidewalks with cobblestone type surfaces. Not a level sidewalk in the city. The fish, the beer, the wine, the people were great.

Faro is a city of contrasts, old and new, pretty streets, graffiti in places, derelict buildings amongst the habitable ones. Tourist spots like the marina area, shopping streets, old city were great and the food and drink venues plentiful, good quality and fair pricing. Markets, street entertainment and craft fairs were everywhere during our visit. Visits to historical buildings were only a few euros per person and children often free. There seemed to be ample car parking, much of it free, and public transport was plentiful. Many operators provided sightseeing boat trips and there are regular ferries to the beaches. Nowhere in Faro escapes the airport traffic but you soon get used to it. The public parks were well maintained.

EASY TO GET ROUND, PLENTY OF SHOPS AND RESTAURANTS, WITH VERY PLEASANT STAFF/WORKERS. ENJOYED THE WALK AROUND THE OLD TOWN. WORTH A WALK UP TO THE MUNICIPAL MARKET AS THE RANGE OF FRESH FISH AND VEG IS FACINATING. THE BIG SHOPPING CENTRE IS ALSO WORTH A VISIT, GREAT RANGE OF SHOPS AND PLACES TO EAT AND BEING PARTLY IN THE OPEN AIR, VERY PLEASANT ON A HOT DAY

Lovely friendly accommodating people (all the locals).
Lovely friendly accommodating people (all the locals). The graffiti is artwork in most cases, I was informed it's used to mark abandoned/derelict buildings.
Can be a little disorientating in the old town, but it is beautiful.
Traffic can be a little busy around rush hour, if you are not used to city driving and some of the roads can be a bit uneven around the old town, so I'd advise don't drive through Old Town in a sports car.

Faro was nice, good food / drink and is best suited as a base if you are staying for more than four days. It’s got a charming old town but it is a small place and you can see most things in a day or two. It has a nice feel about it - much better than Albufeira for example as it’s not so. commercialised or rowdy. If you’re looking for stag / hen dos this probably isn’t the place for you.
This is one of the best apartment we booked in our trip to Portugal. Modern, comfortable, spacious, very clean. Even not been located in the historical side it is walking distance to tourist attractions of Faro. You can find a big supermarket just next to the building, offering all you need including cooked food. We notified our early arrival time, the hoster was waiting for us and allowed us to have access to the apartment which was ready once we arrived. Very nice apartment, safe area, very clean and quite building. I do recommend it.
The location was perfect for the beach and for the bus for city center/airport/coach station and not far from the only mini market in the area. A few good restaurants right in front of the hotel. Probably the only hotel from the beach area, at least I didn't see any other hotel, only a hostel and lots of private accommodations. The staff was attentive and booked a taxi for us at 4 am, as we had an early flight. The city is very nice and, since the weather was bad, we just visited Faro
We really enjoyed our stay at the hotel, Filipe was an excellent host and provided us with stellar assistance throughout the course of our stay! THANK YOU FILIPE!! The room was cheerful and comfortable and the open balcony style courtyard made the place extra spacious. We also enjoyed sharing a kitchen and having fridge space available, which made our 10 day stay in Faro more economical. Also the Albergio Formosa is very central to the old city, the ferry, the train and bus station.
Location is very good it is in heart of faro city in beach side near to faro bus station 4 minutes walk and faro train station 9 minutes walk and many restaurants around
In faroway hostel it self there is have a kitchen and mini bar in upstairs very good for relaxing and view to city centre.
I with family very enjoyed staying there
I recommend to family and friends and to tourists who wants to visit to faro portugal Faroway hostel is the best.
Affordable, basic hotel with everything you would need. Enjoyed a beer on the rooftop, and the owner was so kind in making me some of his delicious curry. All the workers are so kind, and if you are flying into Faro and staying for one night I couldn't have picked a better spot. I even enjoyed the lovely smell of authentic Indian food inside the premises. Perfect for a solo traveller looking for a cheap basic room for a night.
The property looks very new. It’s a walking distance to everything. The room is very comfortable and has everything for a short or extended stay. The Wifi is the fastest in all the hotels I have stayed, which is very important for us who work remotely on the trip. We cooked and used the laundry. Communication with the owner was very easy and prompt. I would stay here again and would recommend it to anyone who would stay in Faro.
Everything..breakfast was so fresh and eaten in the roof top restaurant, so great views too.
The hotel location is so good, overlooking the harbour, so always changing skies and views. Surrounded by beautiful walls through cobbled streets. The drivers are very courteous too, always stop at zebra crossings. The shops and restaurants within a few minutes walk remind you that you're in Portugal with lovely local food and goods.
My friends and I decided to holiday in Faro ,Portugal from the 15th to 18th of August 2022 and we thought that Villa Lidia was a great option for its location and size seeing that we were six people. I must say that the house is lovely and its location near perfect,a few steps from the beach and with its back garden sitting literally on a ria( estuary)
Hotel faro and Beach Club is conveniently located near the marina, 15 minutes drive from Faro Airport and close to all cafes/restaurants/shops. The breakfast buffet was superb. The Room is clean and very comfortable. The Staff was really friendly and helpful. I would like to stay in this hotel again and I highly recommend it.
The location was perfect, literally a stone throw away from one of the best beaches in Portugal, and so close to Faro airport.
The host was amazing, Marcos gave us all the local knowledge and recommended the best places to go, and also stocked up the apartment kitchen with all the basics needed.
The hotel location isn’t best for getting to central Faro or beach but is only like 7minutes drive from airport which is nice. Breakfast was really good and all stuff were nice and helpful. It also has a gym and pool and free parking is just in front of the hotel.
The "boutique" hotel is very well situated in the centre of Faro, in the vicinity of historical sites. The staff is friendly and welcoming. The breakfast, for additional fee is average. There is popular restaurant on the premises which we did not experience.
The location on the beach is great and the rooftop bar and restaurant was a great place to meet and visit with friends. The staff is very friendly and helpful with great recommendations for visiting the areas of the Algarve.
The best hotel we have stayed in during our trip to Portugal, the staff especially Amin were all amazing and very friendly, excellent modern rooms and balconies. We stayed for our honeymoon and the little touches were great!
3HB Faro is hands down one of the best hotels I’ve ever stayed in. the staff are helpful and welcoming, the property is gorgeous and very clean, and you couldn’t ask for a better location. I was sad to leave!
Amazing location, could step onto the beach from the hotel. Lovely rooms, rooftop bar and sunbathing area. Very helpful staff. So close to the airport but no noise and ferry over to Faro was perfect.
