Hotel in Praia do Vau, Portimão
Completely renovated and located on the cliffs of Praia do Vau beach, the Turim Presidente Hotel has 178 rooms with large balconies for relaxing. Most of the rooms have a sea view. We stayed here for 4 nights in September; it’s a very clean hotel with good size rooms and private balcony overlooking the sea was a nice extra to sit out at night. location is right on the edge of a cliff; great views out to sea and steps down to a sandy beach around 5 minutes walk from the hotel. plenty of restaurants a short walk from the hotel and local bus stops nearby too. Portimao train station is around a 45 minute walk (trains along the Algarve), the marina is around 30 minutes walk along the beach, bus station was around 10 minutes taxi ride to the hotel. Breakfast was standard continental options; with various cakes/pastries which varied by day. No complaints from us. The real stand out for us though were the staff… everyone we met is so lovely and helpful! Part of our trip was to celebrate my girlfriends 30th birthday. I contacted the hotel via booking.com before we arrived. Luminita (front desk) was quick to answer all my questions via booking.com; and arranged a local bakery to make a cake for us which was delivered to the hotel. The hotel staff also kindly decorated the room - it was a lovely touch and really made the day more special. Thanks so much! On our last day we went to watch sunrise and the gentleman on reception advised us of the best spots locally to go from his local knowledge. Front desk always had someone on who was happy to help; even booking taxis/transfers so we didnt need to worry about missing our flights back. It was these personal (& friendly) touches which really stood out for us

Hotel in Portimão
Located 328 feet from Portimão’s riverside, the 4-star Jupiter Marina is a couple-oriented hotel within 0.6 mi from the Marina and Praia da Rocha beach. Where do I start?!? After a very easy check-in, we stepped into our room where we saw the view of the river from beyond what looked like a very comfortable balcony, we knew we were in for a treat. In addition to the beautiful room, this hotel really is only a 15-20 minute walk in either direction to the promenade along the river and all of its shops, or to the beaches. It is a fantastic location. And the staff, ever so helpful, was happy to provide directions, make recommendations, etc. This place really thought of everything. Yes, the bed and bedding were comfortable. Yes, there was plenty of space to settle in. Yes, there was space in the bathroom to set our toiletries and hang things. Yes the shower was amazing. Yes we had a strong wifi signal. Refrigerator and personal safe, check! ...But it goes beyond all of that. Jupiter Marina Hotel pays attention to the little details too. One example to illustrate what I mean: Lots of places boast that they come with blackout shades. But somehow, the curtains never seems to fall so that all of the light is blocked, including the one street light that always seems to be in just the wrong place. At Jupiter Marina, they're aware of this and someone thought to add an inconspicuous strip of velcro down the edge so that you can seal the curtain. Voila! No light gets in! Another small but super helpful detail - there are outlets on both sides of the bed, easily accessible, and one of them even has USB outlets. All of these little details add up to make this a stay that exceeded my expectations. And I haven't even mentioned the incredible breakfast that we started every day with. If you're debating whether to include the breakfast or not in your room purchase, take it from me - include the breakfast! It will be SO worth it!
Hotel in Praia do Vau, Portimão
The sunny Hotel Alcaide is located just 656 feet from Praia do Vau. The quiet hotel has green surroundings and features an outdoor swimming pool, with sun loungers. The pool was fantastic and the location perfect. I liked that the hotel was near a quieter beach (Praia Vau) which meant that there was plenty of space, even on very busy days. The breakfast was good, served between 8 am and 10 am. Excellent coffee. The front desk staff also serve in the bar, but it was never hard to get a drink when desired. The room had a small balcony which was perfect. The room wasn't fancy but perfectly adequate and we had plenty of storage for the short time we were there.

We visited the Portimão museum which was very good, nice to see how the sardines were processed back then and there was a lovely photo gallery next door. We were staying more in Praia de Rocha and walked to Portimão itself as we enjoy walking. Praia da Rocha itself is lovely with ample beaches and restaurants, not all of them open at this time of year (February) but more than enough to choose from.
The beach is the most expansive and beautiful- stunning rock formations, a long pier to walk along, flat and soft sand with rolling waves. We visited in February and it was not busy at all - but still lovely to explore. No swimming in that gorgeous water though. There are good options for meals in Pria da Rocha, but probably at this time if the year, better options in Portimao itself. We ate at Adris restaurant and had an excellent meal - very traditional.
Portimao is an ordinary European city, with some interesting older buildings. It has large malls and the usual shopping you would get anywhere else. The walk along the cliff edges was stunning. The Portimao racetrack is not close, so was unable to get there to see the motorbike testing which was happening during my stay. With hindsight, I would have stayed longer in either Faro or Lagos and visited Portimao for a day.
Nice town, plenty of restaurants and enough shops. Lovely clean and safe beach, good for children. We went in October so the tourist crowds were minimal so nice and quiet. The weather was still beautiful. Local bus company appeared to have a regular service.
Portimão reminded me a bit of Miami, Fl. USA There is a lot of action with bars, clubs, shops, beach-life and restaurants and that can be positive or negative depending on your preference. I found it over-crowded and the ever enlarging skyscraper apartment buildings poorly planned with buildings teaming atop of others. A little more sky and green (park) space would go a long ways to making it feel less congested. On the other hand it made a great location from which to explore the Algarve and we found several eateries to our liking - price and taste!
We really liked the accommodation, very clean, big rooms, the food was great, the swimming pool was fantastic, also the staff were so welcome, friendly and helpful. I'm sure we will comeback We recommend for everyone who wanted to have a great and peaceful holiday in Portimao.
I had a great experience staying at this beautiful house in Portimão. The apartment is completely renovated so it was clean and had everything you need for a stay in the Algarve. I really appreciated the openness of the house and many windows to let light in. It's located right in the original area of the city so it's close to many traditional restaurants. If you're the type of traveler that doesn't like the big tourist hotels, this is the place for you. You'll feel more like a local. Parking was easy in the nearby lot.
Portimão
We booked this apartment because we wanted to be near the karting track for the World championship. The apartment was clean, worm and comfortable. We cooked in the apartment and we didn't use the restaurant and didn't pay extra for breakfast. No supermarkets around and there is only one restaurant in the hotel. That's why if you want to use the kitchen you have to go to Portimao or Lagos and buy the food and something to clean the dishes. For our needs on this moment it was the right decision to book on this hotel.
Portimão
Quinta de Paz is a lovely experience, really genuine and nicely different from all the mainstream accommodation in the Algarve. The adjoining two bedroom Chives room is excellent for a family with a really nice panoramic view of Portimao from the private balcony. We liked the smart residential area midway between Portimao and Praia de Rocha, both about 20- 25 minutes walk. Also easy to get to lovely Alvor beach. The hosts are very welcoming and friendly and want to do what they can for you, including help on visiting places.
Portimão
We loved everything about the villa! Incredible value for money. The villa is beautiful, feels like a 5 star hotel! The breakfast was the best, fresh fruit and orange juice. Continental breakfast served to your table and the staff were so kind. I added the 30€ package for my boyfriends birthday and the room was perfectly decorated with a card and a bottle of wine. Short walking distance from the beach and centre of Portimao. I can't reccomend this place enough!
As a frequent visitor to Portugal and Portimão I often looked at Hotel Oriental as a special place to stay and I haven’t been disappointed . Wonderful location with cafes , restaurant and good food on your doorstep if you take time to explore and follow the local Portuguese families. The easy access to the beach made it an amazing holiday with my step count reaching 30,000 on occasion !! I look forward to revisiting this hotel in the very near future .
The Algarve Casino Hotel has direct access to the stunning beach (via a stairway). It is spotlessly clean. Some may find the decor dated, but we found that it retro and with its own charm. The personnel are courteous and friendly. We would give special thanks to Nuno on reception and Ricardo, Ana, Olga & Viktor for their excellent service in the bars. We thoroughly enjoyed our holiday and will definitely be back.
The daily breakfast buffet was impressive. The location was great with 2 minute walk to the beach and sea view rooms. This hotel is right by the main street with restaurants and shops. In summer it may get a little loud with tourists and night clubs nearby. We went early December and we’re happy with our choice.
Such a great place for a very reasonable price! Location is excellent - very close to Praia da Rocha. There were a lot of restaurants near the beach so finding places to eat is not a problem. Breakfast is quite good and the place is very clean. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone wishing to visit Portimão!
Villa Prana stands out as the best accommodation of my entire month long motorcycle trip through Spain and Portugal. Hosts David and Sylvia made the difference, making me feel at home and trying to help in every way possible. I’d like to come back.
The staff were really pleasant and helpful. The breakfast was good, nice to have it next to the pool. Parking was good, even though we were outside the hotel grounds. Near to a few restaurants and bars and the beach.
great location and accommodation structured around the marina. Easy access to beaches and other parts of Portugal. Staff friendly and helpful.
Portimão
Beautiful place. Autentic portugal house. Comfortable rooms and very comfortable beds. Breakfasts was nice to. We planing to come back soon.
Portimão
Good security, beautiful accommodations and really nice staff and great hotel option for the rolling loud or Afro nation festival
The hotel location was perfect, right across the street from the beach and near all the cafes and restaurants.
