FAQs about hotels in Faro

Colourful, Historic, and Sunny

Faro is the picturesque capital of the Algarve region, offering colourful streets and buildings, Moorish influence, and typical Portuguese charm. It is encompassed by the lagoon of Ria Formosa Natural Park, and offers wide beaches, a laid-back atmosphere, and a vibrant nightlife.

Occupied by Phoenicians and Carthaginians, and once an important Roman harbour and Moorish culture capital, it was almost flattened by the 1755 earthquake. Happily, the historic centre survived and is today one of best preserved in Algarve. Choosing a hotel in Faro’s Old Town will allow you to have a more authentic Portuguese experience.

The long, sandy beach of Praia de Faro is 7 km from the city, and the beach on Barreta Island –also known as Deserta - is probably the most tranquil in the region. Hotels near the beach in Faro and the surrounding towns of Olhão, Tavira, Quinta do Lago, Quarteira and Vilamoura, are all excellent ways to enjoy sunny Portugal.

Faro International Airport offers connections throughout Europe, and the city also offers ferry, railway, and bus links. Whether you need a beach resort or a hotel near Faro Airport, check out the wide offer available on Booking.com!

Lovely friendly accommodating people (all the locals).

Lovely friendly accommodating people (all the locals). The graffiti is artwork in most cases, I was informed it's used to mark abandoned/derelict buildings. Can be a little disorientating in the old town, but it is beautiful. Traffic can be a little busy around rush hour, if you are not used to city driving and some of the roads can be a bit uneven around the old town, so I'd advise don't drive through Old Town in a sports car.

Praia de faro is nice of you looking for a quiet break it has few restaurants for a nice meal.and a few drinks. Beach is beautiful so if you want a slow pace holiday near the airport just to unwind its for you. If you prefer bars and shops there aren't any really.

Faro was nice, good food / drink and is best suited as a base if you are staying for more than four days. It’s got a charming old town but it is a small place and you can see most things in a day or two. It has a nice feel about it - much better than Albufeira for example as it’s not so. commercialised or rowdy. If you’re looking for stag / hen dos this probably isn’t the place for you.

Faro is a lovely place for a few days. We walked most of the town. The weather was a little windy and cool but we still went out on a sunset cruise which I highly recommend. Faro beach was wonderful too. Lots of different cuisines. A great spot!

We love travelling and generally take a couple of breaks during the year. So we hope to visit you again early next year. Could you please quote us for a weeks stay for two of us for next January or February. We generally go cruising later on in the year and we like taking 3 or 4 day breaks on our west coast in Ireland. Your hotel is a gem, a boutique hotel which we were lucky to visit. We hope to see you again early next year.

Food. Definitely the food. Delicious and at a good price.

Food. Definitely the food. Delicious and at a good price. The city is also nice, great for evening or morning walks. And the Natural Park is great to see. I wouldn't bother with the Castle restaurant, the view is nice, staff is nice, but prices are a bit high and you can't pay by card. Taberna Modesto just next to it was sublime. You don't get the sunset, but the atmosphere is very nice and food is delicious and not as expensive. Plenty of places for morning coffee and breakfast, if you're into that. The Forum Algarve is another good place to visit. Great for shopping and eating and a very nice place overall to spend your day,

The beds and pillows were SO comfortable! The room and bathroom were both very spacious and exceptionally clean which I really liked. I got sick and the staff was wonderful! I so wish I could remember the young woman at the front desk who went above and beyond and helped get me a taxi to a great private clinic. Hotel Faro was a great place to rest and recover. Also want to mention the incredible breakfast offering that comes with the price of the room. The sunset views from the rooftop were amazing. I would definitely choose this hotel again!

we arrived early but they made a real effort to sort the room earlier for us. on arrival the reception area was smart and clean. We used the small pool area for a few hours, it is small but quiet and a lovely sun trap. The rooms are lovely, clean and stylish. They also went out of their way to make the room special for our stay. Although they don’t have catering breakfast was offered for delivery, but we opted to use a local cafe as the hotel is 5m from the town centre. Highly recommend the hotel for a night or few nights in Faro town.

The location is excellent: out of town but at the beach, close to beautiful walks in the Ria Formosa nature preserve. A certain 1950s charm to the hotel but, see below... More suitable for the warm days of summer, when you spend all of your time outdoors. Only five minutes from the airport by bus or taxi, but not too noisy, as not under the flight path of the aircraft. The same bus takes you regularly into the town of Faro - and there is also a ferry into town, a 30 minute trip well worth taking, cheaper than the bus!

Wasn't expecting much from the hotel or Faro as we booked it due to its location before our early morning flight out of Portugal but Faro is well worth a visit. Staff were very nice to deal with. Receptionist gave us alot of information about the rea. Hotel is in a great location where one can wander into the town and marina. The room and bathroom were very clean and spacious. Had tea and coffee facilities and a bottle of water. We didn't have breakfast so cannot comment.

We like the variety of breakfast and the size of the room is spacious. We like the King suite with a hot tub in the balcony overlooking Ria Formosa. There was also a welcome drink to choose from. We had a glass of wine and rose. The receptionist/ barmaid/ waitress/ chef was very friendly. The location is quiet and only 5 mins drive to Faro airport which is handy on our last day in Portugal. The whole place was very clean and modern in decor.

We had a late arrival and keys left in key box with codes given to us - really easy process. It was in a perfect area for us - we could walk wherever we wanted. close to the waterfront, bus station, shops and great restaurants. We had breakfast at the Cinderela restaurant (which was included) which was really good!! We love Faro and would definitely stay at Casa Portugal on our return - host was amazing!!

Loved the marsh land estuaries, the walks, farm animals and distance from town. I felt I could be in two kinds of Portugal on one trip. The smells and the vast sky scenery were a beautiful rural experience. I would recomend a car but being solo and fit I enjoyed the walk to the main road, getting the bus into Faro or getting a Bolt service. It was simply lovely and peaceful.

Breakfast = disaster.... few salami with cold eggs and bacon with terrible coffee Kind of 4 star hotel and you are forced to stay in the basement with mouldy curtains and broken furniture, just terrible. No good restaurants around just a few poor quality eateries If you decide to stay there just rent a car and go somewhere else where you can feel real Portugal

Very conveniently located for exploring Faro with plenty of restaurants and cafes on the same street. We really enjoyed wandering around the old town, probably walking the same loop four or five times. The rooms we stayed in (different rooms at the start and end of our trip to Portugal) were both large and comfortable.
