Faro is the picturesque capital of the Algarve region, offering colourful streets and buildings, Moorish influence, and typical Portuguese charm. It is encompassed by the lagoon of Ria Formosa Natural Park, and offers wide beaches, a laid-back atmosphere, and a vibrant nightlife.
Occupied by Phoenicians and Carthaginians, and once an important Roman harbour and Moorish culture capital, it was almost flattened by the 1755 earthquake. Happily, the historic centre survived and is today one of best preserved in Algarve. Choosing a hotel in Faro’s Old Town will allow you to have a more authentic Portuguese experience.
The long, sandy beach of Praia de Faro is 7 km from the city, and the beach on Barreta Island –also known as Deserta - is probably the most tranquil in the region. Hotels near the beach in Faro and the surrounding towns of Olhão, Tavira, Quinta do Lago, Quarteira and Vilamoura, are all excellent ways to enjoy sunny Portugal.
Faro International Airport offers connections throughout Europe, and the city also offers ferry, railway, and bus links. Whether you need a beach resort or a hotel near Faro Airport, check out the wide offer available on Booking.com!
Great town with many places to visit. The old Cathedra is a jewel. The museum is worth to spend some time there as well and the church tower offers great view on old town.
Faro is also the place where we experienced first time beautiful fado music. On June 12 we had an unforgettable night at Castelo restaurant. Thank you.

This is my second visit to Faro, first time staying in a hostel, It was very clean & tidy, other travellers were very respectful and kind. I visited a variety of restaurants and cafe's. Food that I ate varied from sandwiches and omelettes to seared salmon with salad, all very tasteful and delicious. All very clean, toilets in vicinity, very friendly locals, lots of ATM's to obtain local currency. Local beaches beautiful , stunning views. I saw lots of taxis, not many buses, although I wasn't looking out for them very much.
Highly recommend a visit.

Small and friendly. Easy to get around. Fabulous boat trip option.
Very relaxing and reasonably priced. 10 minutes from airport.
No accessible toilets, other than in hotels. Town requires more ramps into shops etc for wheelchair access.

Friendly people.
Friendly people. Lots of great restaurants and great food reasonably priced. Not much to see in the city. Small streets and lot of cars with no place to park. Hard walking city due to unlevel streets and sidewalks with cobblestone type surfaces. Not a level sidewalk in the city. The fish, the beer, the wine, the people were great.

Faro is a city of contrasts, old and new, pretty streets, graffiti in places, derelict buildings amongst the habitable ones. Tourist spots like the marina area, shopping streets, old city were great and the food and drink venues plentiful, good quality and fair pricing. Markets, street entertainment and craft fairs were everywhere during our visit. Visits to historical buildings were only a few euros per person and children often free. There seemed to be ample car parking, much of it free, and public transport was plentiful. Many operators provided sightseeing boat trips and there are regular ferries to the beaches. Nowhere in Faro escapes the airport traffic but you soon get used to it. The public parks were well maintained.

EASY TO GET ROUND, PLENTY OF SHOPS AND RESTAURANTS, WITH VERY PLEASANT STAFF/WORKERS. ENJOYED THE WALK AROUND THE OLD TOWN. WORTH A WALK UP TO THE MUNICIPAL MARKET AS THE RANGE OF FRESH FISH AND VEG IS FACINATING. THE BIG SHOPPING CENTRE IS ALSO WORTH A VISIT, GREAT RANGE OF SHOPS AND PLACES TO EAT AND BEING PARTLY IN THE OPEN AIR, VERY PLEASANT ON A HOT DAY
The hotel is in a great location! Close to the train station, marina, good food, and central excitement. I was truly impressed. The hotel bar and 5th floor dining was amazing. We sat on the outdoor patio and enjoyed a day of sunshine. The staff were very kind and helpful. After a day of travel, we also enjoyed the balcony in the room to just relax in private but still enjoy the outdoors. I will definitely be visiting Faro again and this hotel is where I will stay without a doubt. Thank you for a such a wonderful and memorable experience 😀.
This is one of the best apartment we booked in our trip to Portugal. Modern, comfortable, spacious, very clean. Even not been located in the historical side it is walking distance to tourist attractions of Faro. You can find a big supermarket just next to the building, offering all you need including cooked food. We notified our early arrival time, the hoster was waiting for us and allowed us to have access to the apartment which was ready once we arrived. Very nice apartment, safe area, very clean and quite building. I do recommend it.
From communications prior to arrival, to right throughout the stay, this was a lovely property!
Key pick up was next door in a bakery, which also provided a wonderful breakfast! The room was large, bright and spacious and the (shared) bathroom was clean and modern. The kitchen was very well equipped, and there were tables and chairs outside, and in a roof top terrace for al fresco dining!
There were plenty of good eating options close by (some recommended by Casa Portugal) and Faro itself was a surprisingly attractive town to visit!
Wasn't expecting much from the hotel or Faro as we booked it due to its location before our early morning flight out of Portugal but Faro is well worth a visit. Staff were very nice to deal with. Receptionist gave us alot of information about the rea. Hotel is in a great location where one can wander into the town and marina. The room and bathroom were very clean and spacious. Had tea and coffee facilities and a bottle of water. We didn't have breakfast so cannot comment.
Very easy self-check in at the house located in a quiet neighborhood. Spacious and well-equipped rooms with a clean, shared bathroom. Conveniently located next to the airport (15-20 min walk), the nicely decorated house has a homey vibe and offers everything you need for a last or first night in Portugal. Highly recommended for anyone who passes through Faro. Great restaurants in close proximity, too.
The hotel was superb on every way. The breakfasts were outstanding with a wonderful selection of high quality items. The rooms were beautiful and spacious. The staff were incredibly helpful. As an example, after we boarded our train to leave Faro my wife noticed that she left her iPad in our room. She called the hotel and an employee brought it to the train station within 5 minutes.
The receptionist that I met was just wonderful! Inês was just so invested in making my trip to Faro as enjoyable as possible! She was so super helpful and as my first point of contact in Portugal, she really set the tone. Staff like Inês are hard to find, she's one in a million! Thank you for setting the tone for a beautiful 3 weeks in Portugal! 🙏❤️🥰
Rooms We booked this hotel because it has a 4 star rating after being disappointed in the original booking in Faro Portugal. It is lovely with great, helpful and kind Staff. We were able to get some supper in the snack bar. Also, because it is in a newer part of Faro it had plenty of free parking
Very well welcome at Alto hotel. We arrived with our own car but this is only 15 min walk from Faro old town center and harbor. Buffet breakfast as of 07:30 allowing to leave to airport for early flights.
All facilities are modern and recently decorated - all nice. Comfortable bed...
The hotel is very close to nearby facilities e.g. bus and train stations. Also, in the middle of town centre. The room was awesome for the price. Staff very pleasant and willing to help always. Kudos to the management. Will always book whenever am in Portugal.
location is awesome (1 min away from the beach and good cheap cafe, 5 euros uber from the airport)
staff is very chill and helpful, cheap and cold tap beer
definitely the place to stay in faro if you wanna meet people and chill at the beach in the same trip
A good hotel in a central location, close to the airport, bars, restaurants, and cafes. A short walk from the old town and the centre of Faro. A nice interior, with good kitchen facilities. The hotel staff are great and they're always available to help.
The room was spacious and comfortable. loved the breakfast box delivered to my room. The breakfast was good and plenty. The hotel is also just 5 min walk away from the station making it convenient for me for my day trips outside Faro.
The location on the beach is great and the rooftop bar and restaurant was a great place to meet and visit with friends. The staff is very friendly and helpful with great recommendations for visiting the areas of the Algarve.
Beautiful interior, especially the night lighting; excellent breakfast and housekeeping service; great terrace view; comfy bed and air-co (the only hotel that I didn't have sweating-cold issue during our travel in Portugal).
Every time I go to Portugal (once every 2 months) I stay at Hotel Faro. Since 2021. I absolutely love it and it turned into my home in Portugal.
All members of staff are adorable and extremely professional.
If you want a good, value for money ‘not too many frills’ hotel the 3K Faro Aeroporto is a great option. Walk to the airport in 10 mins or they will organise a taxi for you.
