This is a gorgeous, high end property. The staff was absolutely superb and treated us with the utmost respect and friendliness in spite of showing up in our hiking clothes. The history of the place is so interesting. We even saw Christina Blandy and her 2 dogs on the property.
Wish we had stayed at least 2 nights.

2nd time we stayed here, first time the weather was great everywhere, this time as the hotel is up in the mountains the weather was worse at the hotel then on other location on the island
It's a great spot if you want to avoid crowded places and are there for the hiking experience
If you want to go to the beaches and city its not recommended

Santo da Serra is a quiet region with a village, perfect for exploring the mountains and nature. There is a garden with a lot of trees, some animals and places to have a picnic or simply relax in the woods. There are also churches and restaurants with very good local food. If you enjoy playing golf, then the Santo da Serra Golf Course is one of the most beautiful I've seen, with its breath-taking scenery. There is also at least one pharmacy and mini-market near the church, along with a children's public playground (with slides, swings, and other toys for small children to enjoy). You are also only a few minutes (by car) away from the Santa Cruz aquapark, the Airport and Porto da Cruz.

A small cozy town among the mountains.
A small cozy town among the mountains. We came here on the way back from Porto Moniz. We felt the local flavor here more than in other tourist cities in Madeira. We liked it here! In the center of the city in front of the church a man bakes a very tasty bread - we advise you to buy this bread!

The village is set in the mountains with plenty of local activity, the Sunday market for local farm produce and the restaurants cater for all tastes from basic food to sophisticated "new cuisine". we most liked the "A Quinta" restaurant which has it's own recipes menu rather than an international menu. The best were the Lamb stew and the Cod with cream.
Everything is in walking distance (no more than 15mins) there is a public garden which attracts a lot of visitors and the "Bola de Caco" (flat bread) made and sold on the street by a local character that boasts about having participated in a TV soap and other events that he is more than happy to explain as he makes the bread.
The 27 hole Golf course is right next door if you like it and there is also a horse riding centre in the village.
The people are friendly and very helpful to the visitors.

It was our first accommodation at Madeira and we were blown away by the friendliness of our hosts. We could check in earlier since we arrived in the morning. All essentials needed were there and I liked the gas oven in the kitched. Bed was gigantic and very comfortable. We were surprised that there was a daily roomservice, which we did not expect at all. The accommodation is situated in a peaceful and quiet garden, but you can still hear the things going on in the village in a distance, which we found nice.
we stayed 4 days and had the room on the same floor as the swimming pool, very comfortable. the hotel and the rooms are very nice, everything is clean, spacious room, large bed and outside the room there is a small green corner with a table and chairs. the pool is heated and covered, with sauna. there is a small and functional gym, a hobby space with billiards. lovely staff. possibility of having an aperitif and English tea. there is also the possibility of booking lessons at the golf club.
Located in an authentic Madeira village, not very touristy but short distance for many starting point for popular hikes and levada walks. Hosts are very friendly, room has a very pleasant design, its large, furnished and decorated with love and taste. Big terrace is a pleasant addition to the room. Small bar downstairs opens at 6, very convenient for having a snack if you are planning to start early in the morning. Plenty of parking space
I stayed in the hotel for 10 days. Location was perfect for me. I did a lot of hiking and only went to the beach once. Close to the airport and the ocean, but still pretty high, so it's usually a bit colder, I enjoyed that.
I also did like the small village and the market every sunday.
The room was very comfortable and clean.
Breakfast was amazing!
Everyone was really nice and helpful.
Joanna provided lots of information regarding transport, attractions we can visit, good restaurants and weather. The netmadeira.com website was very useful in checking the weather all over Madeira.
Breakfast had fresh bread, gem, butter, meat, salam, cheese, milk, and eggs every day.
Lots of animals and birds could be seen at the farm and also in the park nearby. Very quiet location.
The room was huge, on the second floor in the tower, super spacious, huge bathroom, toiletries, safe, big bed, AC and a view. The stylish vintage furniture was beautiful.
It was super quiet, nature was all around, great spot for trips to the east coast, Sao Lourenco, Machico or Canical.
Absolutely superb service and food!
Our best stay (out of 4 hotels) on Madeira.
Everything was perfect. We just regret we didn't get to stay more days at this awesome hotel. The staff is very friendly. Breakfast and food at the resultant hotel was amazing and the spa (pool and sauna) was very nice to have. The room was very nice and clean. The bathroom was super clean and has a beautiful design. Totally recommend this place.
The hotel is situated in beautiful, peaceful and tranquil gardens with excellent views of the surrounding hills, next to a footpath that goes to a levada. Very friendly and helpful staff. A very good buffet style breakfast was provided. It's only 20 minutes walk away from the village and bus stops to Funchal / Machico.
Everything was great.
Fresh bread, eggs and fruits everyday.
Clean towels and bedsheets every few days.
Fully equipped place.
Lots of space and awesome animals.
We got everything we needed and Joana helped us with all of our requests.
I recommend everyone stay at Quinta do Pântano and exploring Madeira from there.
We did not have a room and it was 12 am and we were stranded in the airport and this was the only hotel that helped us. We traveled around Europe for a month and stayed in 11 cities and this was BY FAR the best stay we had. Amazing service and facilities.
The hotel is very cosy. The garden is beautiful. The staff is very kind and helpful. The restaurant offers really delicious food. Everything was perfect. Just take the "longer" route in the navigation because the hill in the shortest is really crazy.
the place it is just amazing… so beautiful and nice… it was a great experience in the Quinta Santo António da Serra … price point perfect!!! For everyone wants country style spot just recommended 100%
