Monchique Springs is a small village a few minute drive from Monchique town. It's much nicer than the town, which seems quite neglected. In contrast Monchique Spa is green, beautiful, well kept and much more interesting with an air of a spa in Switzerland, or England. A must to see!

A beautiful Roman Spa town set high in the hills above the Algarve; the hotel we stayed in was part of the spa which has been bought by an ambitious hotelier who has yet to improve all the buildings to a satisfactory standard. The signage at the hotel is woeful we spent the first two hours of our visit completely lost. If the entrance to the guest parking is down the side of a factory which it is, tell people rather than leave them driving around confused

Monchique is a pretty little town in the mountains, with quiet cobbled streets, boutique shops and wonderful cafes. The new Velochique Cafe is amazing. The area is dotted with incredible trails for walking and cycling and is a great place to stay for a quiet night but still close enough to the Algarve to visit during the day. Silves is a wonderful nearby historic town with an 11th century fort and more wonderful shops and restaurants. Monchique has a good mid sized supermarket that caters for all your needs too. And there are some good local restuarants.

Everyone was friendly and helpful.
Everyone was friendly and helpful. Monchique was lovely and there is a good supermarket for self caterers. Had the best food at Vintage in the centre. Foia just up the hill was perfect for views. Brilliant stop for the race track at Portimao.

Monchique in august is a quiet, little, hilly town, a good start location for visiting activities in the surroundings: hiking, karting, kayakking (Lagos), visiting castles and so on. The houses are either nicely painted infresh colors or the y are in a bad shape and locked. In the town and also around it, are multiple trails to walk/hike.
Quinta do Tempo is a wonderful location in the Serra de Monchique, in the forest but near the beaches of Portimão, Lagos and Aljezur. This is the perfect place to relax, enjoy nature and explore Algarve. The property is a well restored traditional house, surrounded by a beautiful garden. The hosts, Jorge and Laura, are very welcoming, and kept in touch with us before and during our stay. This is certainly one of the places that we have enjoyed the most in Portugal, due to the property, the hosts and the location. We will certainly come back!
One of the nicest hotel / guest house experiences I have had - we were road cycling around the Algarve and stayed the night after riding up the Foia mountain road. The views and sunset from the terrasse and lounge windows were incredible. The food for dinner and breakfast was excellent and plentiful, and the owners were so friendly and helpful. This is the sort of place you can really relax and probably want to stay more than you booked for. Would really recommend and will hopefully come back.
What an incredible view. I wish we had had longer to stay at Vilafoia and enjoy this special boutique hotel and its rare setting. The room we had, with a sitting lounge and large balcony, was spacious and well-equipped. Tip to the wise: it’s a good idea to book Monchique restaurants for dinner several days in advance if you are coming for the weekend. We actually didn’t find a table anywhere! Thanks to Margarita and Stephanie for their kind attention!
The view of the room was magnificent. The room had exceptional decor as well! Breakfast was nice and varied (especially for the typical Portuguese hotel, and especially for a hotel in a remote location). Parking was free on the street. The beds were very comfortable. The staff was friendly, and the cleaning staff was especially accommodating. However, were many things to improve.
The hotel is a bit far from the town of Monchique, but that didn't matter at all, quite the opposite. The hotel provided us with the peace and quiet we needed. The rooms are nice, clean, fully equipped with a beautiful view. You can enjoy the view on prepared sunbeds. Staff very kind and nice. We ended our stay with a morning swim and a delicious breakfast. We highly recommend.
I work in tourism for almost 40 years. A hotel usually is for sleeping and eating. Here it’s to meet the most beautiful people that own and administrate the place. When people have big heart the place can’t be bad. It’s a wonderful place with wonderful people.
The location felt remote but it was so accessible to town and many hiking destinations. The hotel and farm were restorative for the soul. The tiny details really made it special - from fresh flowers to toys for our son to play with - we appreciated it all.
Great location with wonderful views with a lovely garden to walk around and a generous pool. The hosts/family very friendly and helpful. Several bar/restaurants nearby (family run chicken restaurant very good) and Monchique around ten minutes away.
Very beautiful place and panoramic view from the room and also from rooftop or terrace as well. Friendly and helpful owner, simple but good breakfast. Do not expect turkish or egyptian 4* hotel, it's a little bit different but charming.
Very friendly staff. Very beautiful territory. Good breakfast. And in the evening you can have dinner at the restaurant, very good cuisine.
It was a feel, that we were not in a hotel, but visit our Portugal friends.
Very nice and clean hotels at the resort. The thermals and spa is in need of a little renovation. One working small sauna and one steam room available. You need to pay additional in order to use this facility
Amazing breakfast, helpful hosts and an incredible view. From the night skies to the ocean, a breathtaking place. Quiet and roomy space to sleep, with fresh figs growing just outside the hotel.
I felt so welcomed at Wild Oasis! The warmth and beauty of my hosts and the very special spot in the Algarve, has made my stay my favorite of my whole Portugal trip!
