The home of jazz, intriguing New Orleans evokes images of Louis Armstrong, wrought-iron balconies and mouth-watering Cajun cuisine. Louisiana’s largest city, the Big Easy is the beating heart of the Deep South.
Dance down Bourbon Street, where jazz saxophones ring out of traditional bars mixed with more colorful nightlife and entertainment venues. There are several New Orleans hotels near Bourbon Street, spread around the French Quarter with its distinctive Creole architecture.
To the south is Jackson Square, dominated by St. Louis Cathedral. Horses and carts wait patiently by the square, and locals set up their stools and start playing catchy tunes. Just behind is the legendary Mississippi River whose waters are still plied by paddle steamers.
From the river you get great views of the CBD (downtown) skyscrapers and the Louisiana Superdome. Booking.com has several hotels nearby, including some on Canal Street, where streetcars and the famous New Orleans Mardi Gras carnival pass down.
In the northern suburbs is New Orleans City Park, one of the oldest US parks and larger than NYC’s Central Park. Waterways lining it flow into large Lake Pontchartrain bordered by a bayou.

We stayed in the French Quater, which was perfect. I really enjoyed the steam boat trip and the Oak Alley plantation. We did do the plantation ourselves and the Steam Boat as it is cheaper to do online.

NOLA comes with superb french district night-out. Restaurants and clubs are chock-full with jazz bands all night long. Prices aren't economical, but it's worth spending few nights in the vintage district as it is like taking a journey to the past with timeless architectural features. Don't miss out a daily tour in the swamp just reasonable miles off the city or a plantation tour. In-town for Jazz Festival (May 2-7, 2024). Highly recommend this event. Enjoyed NOLA overall. Felt safe and comfortable at all hours of day and night. Friendly people. Good southern hospitality. The French Quarter has a lot to offer. Almost continuous music by world-class musicians both on the street and inside venues. Frenchman's Street is a good music destination, in many ways better than Bourbon Street. Most venues have no cover-charge. Jackson Square is very historic and well maintained, as is the RC Cathedral at the square. Countless excellent restaurants. City is very walkable and fairly easy to get around in. Washington Square and Armstrong Park are both nice quiet and safe refuges from the hustle and action of the Quarter.

Something for everyone. This was a friends trip with six of us, so various interests. Walking tours, Art Museum, Bourbon Street at night, Plantation and Swamp tours. Parades pass right by hotel on St. Charles, quick walk to French Quarter and not too bad a walk to the Garden District, or anywhere in downtown. Hotel staff is very friendly and helpful, room had refrigerator, bed was very comfortable, room was sizable. They sell tickets to the stands out front (we didn't buy any) so that is convenient. Desk clerks were very nice and friendly, so were the housekeepers and maintenance and security staff we encountered.

It's in the old French Quarter so the decor matches, in this part of the city the historical society blocks hotels like this one from updating too much. So your bathroom facilities may look a little dated your room is the size they were in the 1800s. I LOVE it!!! We come to the city to play and enjoy the old feel of staying in the old French Quarter this place is just what we love about New Orleans
