We loved everything about our stay, except it was a little hot and the only windows that opened in our room were on the ceiling. Be that as it may, we loved our stay. The food was fantastic and the accomodations very comfortable.

Parking was very easy.
The whole place had a cosy feel about it and the staff were extremely friendly and helpful! All very clean, tidy and warm in the main building.
Lots of choice at breakfast and a very cosy reading room - a good idea!

Lydney is a convenient spot on the edge of the Forest of Dean. It has bus links to the Forest, Gloucester and Chepstow and rail links from Gloucester to South Wales.
Although it has a range of restaurants and takeaways, the pubs tend to close early (9pm) during the week, staying open later at the weekend

Small town with all you need for a comfortable stay.
Small town with all you need for a comfortable stay. Supermarkets, pub, takeaways, and restaurants all good, but no so much to do in the twon itself. A walk around the harbour and along the clifftop recommended. Great base to explore Chepstow; Ross on Wye; Monmouth; and the Forest of Dean.

I only went to Lydney to visit a distant cousin living there, I guess I would only go there again as Lydney is one of a number of towns in the Forest of Dean. My ancestors were from Gloucestershire but from over the Severn Bridge. The good thing was that Lydney has a railway station and trains are fairly frequent. That said my cousin and her husband had to meet me as the station is about a mile from the town and where I stayed was about a mile in the other direction.

There is not much to see at Lydney except the old harbour.
There is not much to see at Lydney except the old harbour. The Globe at Alvington has excellent food and service. The Woolaston Arms has a good Nepalese restaurant but the rooms leave a lot to be desired.

We were not new to the area so know Lydney quite well and we were in fact staying in Parkend just a few miles away. There is a big Tesco’s in Lydney as well as lots of shops and pubs that you would expect in a small town.

Lydney is an ideal location for the Forest Of Dean and the Severn estuary for walking. You can leave the car and take the train which is in easy reach of Newport, Cardiff, Gloucester and Cheltenham.
Very few restaurants and pubs available in the evening.
I've stayed at the George before and would normally book the George because it is close to my place of work. Good parking in the pub car park. Large comfortable room, in this instance a family room since this was the only one available. Restaurant food is excellent, well above the normal hotel fare. Breakfast equally satisfying. The pub itself has a good selection of beers, wines and spirits - I don't normally judge a hotel by the quantity of alcohol available. Well worth a visit and will stay there again.
Great value stay, 10 minutes drive from Dean Forest Railway Museum, and Lydney close by.
Really comfortable bed and pillows.
Welcoming and polite hosts.
Great having the Gurka restaurant downstairs and the overly pub atmosphere downstairs was nice.
Really lovely garden and more than ample parking space.
Fab breakfast!
We were a family group of five ladies, booking a king room and a family room and can't fault the Inn or the family who run the Inn at all.
Martin, the host, was so very welcoming, friendly and helpful. I called him before our arrival and he suggested local places to eat and tips on logistics for getting to Chepstow racecourse. We were there to see Paloma Faith in concert as well as enjoying a fun time at the races. The room was lovely, clean, comfortable and quiet. The breakfast was superb as were the ladies running the kitchen. We really enjoyed our stay at the Swan House.
proper old pub, good spot in the centre of town and some very good personal touches over and above your standard budget hotel. very polite friendly and helpful staff, really good food and just enough modernisation to keep out external noise. first choice for the future when in this neck of the woods. Also a small selection of books for f you’ve forgotten to bring a read, nice touch.
The hotel was easy to find, had parking and was in a central location. The room was clean, warm and beds were very comfortable. It had its own washbasin with a shower and toilet opposite. Breakfast was excellent with a vegan option and was plentiful . We also had an evening meal and drinks and again the meals were excellent and plentiful.
I would definitely recommend the Swan.
I liked friendly staff in the Motel who told me a lot about the place. The express check-out feature is nice, we were able to leave one day earlier (as weather was not as good as a day before) without any problem. The room is clean and spacious. If I go to Lydney again, I'll stay in the Deangate Motel
The hotel was clean and tidy as usual and the food was exceptiional as always. I would recommend the momos as a starter and any of the nepalese dishes as a main course. For once i did not have rice and had the nepalese potatoes and peas which were delicious a nice change
All staff fabulous would give some 4 star hotels a few lessons excellent dinner and breakfast
Comfy bed and v good sheets pillows and towels
Free parking
We had last room which had external private bathroom opposite the bedroom so not a problem
Thanks
A brilliantly equipped kitchen which was great for cooking, lovely shower, great location for exploring the Forest of Dean and the Wye Valley. Recommend breakfast at the Parkend Cafe a short walk from the accomodation.
The room was ideal for our needs, the hotel staff were extremely friendly and helpful.
nice cooked breakfast served from 08.00.
We ate in the hotel restaurant and the food was delicious.
