Location of hotel is excellent, right next to Osaka station subway, and it is the main reason why we chose this hotel. It is now a faded memory of its past, and will close its door in 2025. Breakfast was decent.
Hotel Universal Port is a 4-minute walk from Universal Studios Japan and a 20-minute drive from Osaka Station. It offers 1 restaurants, and rooms with free WiFi.

Nice enough hotel. But the Japanese style double room was too small. We paid to upgrade to a triple room so that we could store our cases and have a bit more space .We also paid in advance for breakfast but I would advise against it . It was awful . We stayed in 6 other hotels in Japan all had buffet breakfasts this one is preset food served on tray. It is presented beautifully but is absolutely awful lukewarm, omelette not cooked. One slice of orange and one grape .

At the meeting point of river and sea, huge Osaka combines forward-thinking development and sure-footed tradition. This is symbolised in its temple-like, 16th century castle, guarded by ramparts and enlivened by vibrant spring cherry blossom. Dominating the surrounding skyline is Osaka Business Park, a reminder of the city’s strong role in the Japanese economy.
However, the most striking skyscraper is the Umeda Sky Building - 2 towers connected by a rooftop terrace offering far-reaching views. The nearby Osaka and Umeda train stations are linked by underground shopping centres, while the shops of Shinsaibashi’s America Village appeal to a younger crowd. Dōtonbori’s neon lights promote more shops, as well as restaurants considered the best in Osaka. In a city touted as Japan’s culinary capital, that’s quite an accolade.
The Tsūtenkaku tower overlooks Tennōji Park, home of the Osaka Municipal Museum of Art. Another nearby park houses Shitennō-ji, one of Japan’s oldest Buddhist temples.
The Kyocera Dome Osaka is a shrine of baseball, and more thrills are at waterfront Universal Studios Japan, the country’s 2nd largest theme park. Also by the sea is Kansai International Airport, on its own artificial island.
The capsule hotel was invented in Osaka, and alongside this type of accommodation, Booking.com also offers luxury hotels with pools, cheap hostels and traditional ryokans.
Dynamic, fresh and sophisticated city.
Very well put together with train and subway going everywhere you need !
Locals are very friendly, we got helped by an old man because we were lost and he showed us the way to the subway, the system about Icoca card and was truely an amazing person !
He stayed with us at least 15min, showing us around the station. I will never forget him !
Overall, Osaka exceeded my expectation and we were very happy to walk around the city.
A must to do in Japan !

The hotel location is great.
The hotel location is great. You are right across the street from two large department stores and designer brands like LV. There is a metro station in the basement as well as some restaurants and a boutique.
It's a couple of blocks from Shinasaibashi Dori and about a 12 minute walk to Dotonburi.
Hotel staff is very helpful and welcoming.

Osaka is great, almost a world apart from Tokyo culturally.
Osaka is great, almost a world apart from Tokyo culturally. It was far less formal and felt almost like you had left Japan (the amount of tourists probably helped contribute to that also). We had some amazing nights there, meeting some great people, but can be a bit exhausting if you save Osaka until the end of a long trip. It deserves at least 4 days in itself, being mindful of how mental Dotonburi is at the weekend. It's like being a tourist in a tin of sardines.
Great location in the middle of Dotonbori, lots of shops, bars and restaurants in the area. Also located in between Namba and Nippombashi stations, which both have various lines serving them. Check in was seamless and the staff member was really friendly and helpful - also provided extra pillows which we had asked for. Room was clean and decent sized by Japanese standards. Pretty modern hotel with sufficient power points and USB charging ports. Overall, good value for what you get, especially if looking to stay around Dotonbori.
Property was very well kept and the staff were always super kind. Room was super spacious for Japan, we finally had space to open our suitcase. Bathroom was also very large with seperate shower and bathtub and counter space with all the usual japanese amenities.
The location was great for us. Two convenience stores right across the street, subway 3 minute walk from the hotel with a supermarket on the basement floor. Osaka castle is about a 30 minute walk from the hotel.
The location is perfect, right beside Kuromon market, 3 mins walk to Nippombashi station, 10 min walk to Namba-Dotonbori, a 7/11 accross the street what more can you ask for? The reception are extremely helpful. They even have free candy at the lobby and own vending machine. The room size is perfect for solo travellers, maybe a couple but dont bring a huge luggage cause then there will be no room to walk. I guess it's pretty usual for hotel room sizes all over Japan.
This hotel is just a few minutes walk away from the infamous Dontonbori as well as 15 min walk away from Namba station. The shower pressure is great (as we found all hotel showers in Japan were!). We also took the taxi back to the Osaka station when leaving, which was about 2000 yen; but I would recommend walking down the street towards Namba instead to catch it; because you end up doing part of a wasteful drive if catching it right in front of the hotel.
If you are looking for a peaceful stay that is not too far from the main areas, this is the place. The Chillax trip in Osaka couldn't be better as mainly we spent our time in Osaka city with 2 subway lines that cover most of attractions. Small area of reception compared to many guests but when you went to your floor luckily was not too noisy. The bed was comfortable and the room size is bigger than many standard japanese hotels.
The APA hotels I stay at have had small but very comfortable and functional rooms. It has just what you need and not much more. I remember the crazy books that they used to have in the rooms but those aren't around any more. They're generally a good deal and the breakfasts are pretty good. They're also everywhere in Japan. I got a great rest and I was at the edge of Dotonbori which isn't the quietest area in Osaka.
this is the second time I visited Osaka, and the second time i stayed at bespoke. and I love this hotel! the location cant be beat, just around the corner is the osaka subway and a couple of blocks walk brings you to shinsaibashi shopping street which leads you to dotonbori, namba, and other interesting places. and the hotel itself is very nice! the aesthetics and lighting are on point.
Hotel is conveniently located near two metro stations which give direct lines to Umeda, Namba and Shin-Osaka (for the shinknansen).
Our room was very clean and was serviced everyday. The japanese and western breakfast buffet and staff were excellent. There are quite a few good restaurants and cafes around the hotel which are highly rated on Tabelog. Would definitely stay again!
The hotel was in a great location (Umeda). It is a vibrant area with lots of restaurants. The facilities were excellent all toiletries were provided in the rooms, with extras like face moisturiser and makeup remover. Would definitely re this hotel when staying in Osaka. It’s a short taxi ride to Dotonbori. Japanese breakfast in the hotel was excellent.
Love the location as it is near Dotonbori and many other shops and entertainment. Very accessible and close to public transit. Love the fact that they have a public onsen to use for guests and a free kimono robe! Both western and traditional Japanese breakfast were excellent. And, it’s a Ryokan so you can definitely get a Japanese style of experience.
This is a newly refurbished hotel that’s a couple of minutes from the east exit of Shin-Osaka station. Super clean and comfortable. Highly recommended for easy access to the Shinkansen or remote work (they have a work desk and plenty of outlets). Room is a bit bigger than the average Japanese business hotel. Will definitely stay again.
Location is absolutely perfect for exploring Osaka, especially the Dotonbori area. It's only steps from Namba station, which gives access to the rest of the city. 5 of us slept comfortably in this apartment. Very clean and felt very safe. Beds were a bit stiff, but I think most beds in Japan are, so that wasn't an issue.
The location was great - easy to walk to Dotonbori and relatively close to Osaka castle as well.
Compared to other capsule hotels, the spaces in the deluxe rooms are massive and are essentially as big as a normal room. Locker space is decent as well in the room and should fit a medium (carry on) suitcase easily.
Place was very clean and roomy. It had cooking facilities, fridge, washing machine and more room than most hotels in Japan. It was literally two minutes walk from the train station and only one stop to the Main Osaka station. I stayed in lots of hotels over my holiday in Japan, but this was the best.
Great hotel.
Locate near Shin-Osaka station.
Spacious and new room. Big TV with information of hotel available, including the waiting time for laundry.
Soft drinks by self-service available.
Great breakfast with Japanese foods, sushi, seasonal fruits.
A good, clean room that easily fit three people. The bathroom was the best I had in Japan, and the view from the hotel out to the city was just phenomenal at night. The location is right by the heart of everything Osaka. A heavy, heavy recommendation.
I took my granddaughter to Japan as a graduation present. We stayed at the Cross Hotel in Osaka. The hotel was lovely. The staff were extremely kind and helpful. The breakfast buffet was very good. We were very pleased and would stay there again.
It’s a small boutique hotel in the center of Osaka, walking distance from most of the interesting places. Beds were comfortable and we liked the Japanese breakfast.
