This is a great little hotel. The owners and staff are very friendly and helpful. David is very knowledgeable of the area. Leigh made me feel like I was more than just another random guest. The food is fantastic. Really just a great little hotel. If I ever make it back to this side of the world again, definitely staying here again.

Delightful little pub, and the room was just what you need -- plus the bonus of an amazing bath tub which gave me just the hot bath I needed after a long day's walk. Excellent choice for walkers on the Wall Path.

Bardon Mill is a small village, but hosts a unique pottery business and has easy access to the A69, enabling you to get to Newcastle or Carlisle very easily and, of course, all the various places in between. Housesteads Roman Fort is just a few minutes drive, as is Vindolanda The area is rural, rugged and beautiful

The Bowes Hotel has the feel and atmosphere of a happy family. The cooked breakfast and dinner portions were large. We especially enjoyed our Thai meals. On the day we arrived the hotel was able to accommodate us and four guests for dinner at short notice. The room and en-suite were clean and well stocked. We found the owners and staff to be chatty and friendly - it made us feel ‘seen’ and welcomed.

Love the Bowes Hotel!! In Bardon Mill!! Beautiful village. The hotel is Very clean and comfortable. I felt completely welcomed by all the people that worked there and didn’t work there!! It’s a small English village and you are welcomed like a local. Easy access to the Hadrian’s wall and Vindolanda. Bus 685 takes you right up to and AD 122 will take you anywhere on the way. Total time 5 minutes. Excellent experience!!!

I met up with my daughter, son in law and their family here, so they had 3 generations to deal with (including a baby). Every member of staff that we encountered, was friendly, smiling and helpful. We felt very well looked after and cared for.
The breakfast table was FANTASTIC. There was an amazing amount of beautifully presented fresh fruit including, strawberries, blackberries, blueberries, raspberries, melon.... just fabulous, and all fresh, not defrosted from frozen. AND THEN... a good selection of hot breakfasts to choose from, made to order.
The outdoor space was great. Plenty of tables with seating, and some lovely undercover spaces.
This is a great place to stay to visit many parts of Hadrian's Wall. the Roman Museum is a couple of miles away. The Sill, in which you could spend hours absorbing the extremely well presented information about the area, is a five minute walk. The grandchildren loved this place.
Thank You to all the staff at Twice Brewed for a lovely weekend.
Everything was immaculately clean. The room was so comfortable. We had been doing the Hadrian’s wall walk and camping so it was such a treat to stay hear. We had dinner and then the breakfast in the morning - all the food was so delicious. The husband and wife who run the hotel are so lovely and friendly and have created such a lovely place to stay. Also everyone else working there were so helpful and friendly. I really recommend this hotel especially for people do the Hadrian’s wall walk.
The room clean and comfortable.
The pub friendly and food delicious. We were there 7 days and worked our way through the menu. All food was great. The owner Ian Millar was very hospitable. Has expert knowledge of the Roman history of the area and was kind enough to drive us to the Roman Fort. The staff could not have been more attentive and kind. I highly recommend The Bowes Hotel. Locals congregate at the pub and we befriended several of them.
The hotel was freshly renovated and comfortable. The shower was a dream, as was the small balcony overlooking the historic pottery kiln/yard. The location was just perfect for a good nights sleep and resuming our Hadrian's Wall hike in the morning, and the staff even packed us breakfast and ferried us to the wall when we couldn't get a taxi. 10/10 would stay again!
This was the most expensive room on our 6 different hotels trip completing the Hadrians Wall Path. It was also our least favourite. The shower pressure was really bad. Not what you want after walking 10 hours. We had dinner in the hotel and the onion rings we ordered came in their own bowl and were swimming in oil.
The hotel was spotlessly clean and recently refurbished. It is listed in a gorgeous village, close (by car) to Hadrians Wall attractions. Included breakfast is wonderful and the pub restaurant downstairs has good food. It's small and fairly quiet, and a good place to share travel tips with other guests. We loved it!
Very comfortable and clean. Staff are more than nice. Food great. Good pack lunches for our walks. One of our group is vegan and the staff went out of their way to prepare her special meals. We were given lifts to places we needed to start our walk. Definately recomend this hotel.
Great service and food. Breakfast was especially good with wide variety to choose from. Location is perfect for Hadrian’s Wall and other popular walks in the area. Hotel is extremely dog friendly and even helped us with basic wash facilities for our spaniels after our muddy walk.
It is set in a lovely village and is central to Hadrians Wall which was the primary reason of my stay. All the staff at the hotel and the owners made me most welcome and endured my stay was comfortable and memorable. I thank them very much. Especially Catherine.
Really friendly welcoming hotel. Nothing too much trouble. They made us a packed lunch unprompted for our run the next day. They also gave us a lift to Housesteads at 6am (!) when we couldn’t find a cab that would do it!
We really enjoyed our stay at the Bowes Hotel. The accommodation was very good and the food was great ... no need to search elsewhere for a restaurant. All the staff were welcoming and helpful.
This was a gorgeous hotel in a gorgeous setting. The staff were lovely and the food was fantastic. If you like Real Ales this place is has a great selection.
