Most of the staff were very friendly. However the manager did not value me as a customer even though I paid for a double room just for myself. I believe I was allocated an unsuitable (main street outside) room to be asked to pay more to upgrade to the more expensive one.

We recently had the pleasure of staying for three days at a stunning Victorian-style Rockvale House bed and breakfast, and it was an unforgettable experience. From the moment we arrived, the kind and generous owners made us feel completely at home, ensuring that every aspect of our stay was perfect.
The house itself is a beautiful example of Victorian architecture, with cozy, impeccably clean rooms adorned with great furniture that enhances the historic charm. The hot showers were a comforting end to our chilly evening walks in the scenic neighborhood.
Breakfast each morning was a delightful affair with a variety of delicious options, perfectly starting our day. The views from the property are undoubtedly the best in town, offering a picturesque setting that is both tranquil and inspiring.
The location is superb, with the unique addition of an old-style cinema just 50 meters away. We enjoyed a lovely evening watching a movie with locals, which added a special touch to our experience.
The area around the property offers great walks, ideal for exploring the local beauty and serene landscape. This place not only provided a wonderful stay but also left us with beautiful memories. We are already planning our return to what we consider the best place we've stayed in. Highly recommend for an authentic and exceptionally comfortable getaway!

Everything was spotlessly clean in this beautiful B&B, sitting on top of the world. Breakfast was delish and allowed for customization of breakfast for folks with allergens (wonderful GF pancakes and crumpets). Their gin bar was a really fun addition. Highcliffe is perfectly located amongst Lynton and Lynmouth. You can easily walk into town or take the charming water-powered tram between the two towns. Robert and Richard were stunning hosts are were readily available all times of the day from directions into town to local recommendations. Cheers!

Wonderful big English breakfast served with a smile and interest.
Loved the location and personal attention to preferences.
The building has thick walls and so internet was not possible in the rooms. But internet is possible in the pub and entrance lounge/outside seating at front door.

The location was superb. Andrew was a great host and we felt that we were treated like royalty, the best breakfast we have ever had. We cannot recommend highly enough.

The room was well decorated and well furnished, with two lovely chairs in the bay window overlooking the sea. Beds were comfortable, bathroom was lovely and spacious.
Breakfast offered a lot of choice and the foot was great. The couple who run the place were also lovely.
There is a sister hotel just 100m down the road where you can also order an evening meal, which gave us generous portions. I also love the honesty bar. It felt very homely and more like an apartment as we also had use of the guest lounge as well. Would thoroughly recommend.

From the moment we arrived we were greeted by Rebecca who was warn , cheerful and friendly we were made to feel welcome immediately.
The hotel is tastefully decorated with fine furnishings. Our room was superb and with a sea view.
Prior to our arrival we had already had a three course lunch so unfortunately, we had no room to dine in the evening. Our breakfast was amazing and upon our check out we were able to speak to Steve. He was pleased with our comments and we ended up chatting about all sorts of things, that’s what we call friendly.
We will definitely be going back at some stage and would highly recommend the North Cliff Hotel

Good location for the many walks near by.
Good location for the many walks near by. Not many places to eat in the evening if you didn't want to drive any where. Lack of toilets for public use. You need to be quite fit to get the best out of Lynton as it is very hilly. People are friendly which was very good. I would recommend the Crown Hotel for food and good service.

We really enjoyed Lynton.
We really enjoyed Lynton. We walked from our hotel in Rockford and enjoyed a pint and great fish and chips on a quiet, out of season Sunday. I imagine it's a different proposition in the Summer, but we prefer places like this when it's a bit quieter.

Lynton/Lynmouth - vey nice area. We hiked from Lynmouth up the hill - going right to pub 'the blue ball inn' - then on to Watersmeet - from there up the stream to Rockford Inn and then down to Lynmouth again.
Really nice walk!

A small and friendly cliff side town with a wonderful cliff railway and a tea shop selling the very best cream teas in all the surrounding area. Ample parking in a large convenient carpark to the town with many shops and facilities.

We asked for a refund after one experience of a breakfast.
The receptionist was very pleasant and we agreed £10 per head per day.
This hotel has so much potential but at £149 per night, at present the management cannot cope. During the Covid crisis, or even without it, we approached Isabella, (the most senior management representative at the time) and asked for some soap for our room. She said that the hotel was expecting a delivery and 'she'd pop out and get some' : 24 hours later we asked again without luck.
We were very happy with the Gable Lodge. The room was very comfortable and bright, with a balcony to sit out on. The breakfasts were amazing, as were the evening meals too. Ann and David's local knowledge was spot on, and they were very friendly. Valley of Rocks was only 15 minutes walk away, as was the Cliff Railway. Both a MUST SEE. Loved Lynton and Lynmouth. Great Crab Sandwiches, my first!!
Everything about our stay was perfect! Robert and Richard were so welcoming and friendly, they went over and beyond to make our stay enjoyable. Attention to detail - second to none, there is no room for improvement left! The breakfast was amazing!
We highly recommend Highcliffe House to anyone visiting Lynton.
P.S. Thank you for a chocolate Easter bunny 😉
The friendly, 5* service from everyone. The location so you can easily access the coastal path or pop into Lynton and Lynmouth.
The breakfast was great! The view spectacular - we were fortunate with weather and ‘Amalfi Coast’ springs to mind!
Pre dinner drinks at the bar or on the terrace were welcomed and relaxing.
Comfy bed and big bathroom. Happy, happy.
The staff were so kind and helpful. The hotel had a really relaxed vibe and I loved the "Honesty Bar".
The room was a single, which was really comfortable with great views out to sea. Really nice shower.
Really enjoyed the cooked breakfast.
I would definitely stay here again as a base for exploring this part of Devon.
5 Stars, no question.
Breakfasts were cooked to order and very tasty. A great venue for outdoor activities straight from the door. Hosts and staff were very nice.
Seated outdoor area with views of river. Interior of the pub was proper old world Exmoor and local beers and cider on offer. We would recommend a visit, book if intending to have food.
The hosts were super welcoming and accommodating. As a solo traveller, the guest house felt really homely and was perfectly located to explore North Devon. Parking was easy enough - if nothing directly outside of the property, the car park across the street is free in the evening after 6pm through until 10am.
Love Wood Cottage and location. I owned this property early 2000’s. Lived next door No 47 for 21 years. Cottage situation is ideal for shops and food venues. Fantastic walks in Lynton and Lynmouth. The property is adequate if four people were staying all decent sized rooms. Lovely patio at the rear.
Hospitable hosts, well appointed spotlessly clean accommodation . Set in very peaceful location on the edge of Exmoor and about 12 minute drive to Lynton or Lynmouth. Varied walks in close proximity. Loved the spectacular starlit nights with no light pollution. Highly recommended
Breakfast was excellent, the room was immaculate, and the views and location were breathtaking! The hosts Rebecca & Steve were very welcoming and extremely helpful. I can't recommend the North Cliff Hotel highly enough!

In the heart of Lynton, quality accommodation in a superb location for touring the North Devon Coast and the Exmoor National Park. Friendly helpful staff in a comfortable hotel. Especially enjoyed the jazz night.
We loved the location.a short walk along a tarmacked path into Lynton and for the intrepid a few steps from a great walk to Watersmeet. An absolute Gem National trust T Room on the river to break the round trip.
The B &B was emaculate and well presented. The hosts were very helpful and professional. The house is well positioned to explore Lynton and Lynmouth and the surrounding area
