Beautifully refinished historic hotel in downtown Queenstown was a great find. Our room was large and even came with a gas fired fireplace. Ralph is an excellent host. He very graciously provided our breakfast at 6:30 am as we needed to travel to Strahan to catch a tour.

Have to wait a couple more years to get the train going through to Strahan again . This will be the highlight of the area. Had a great meal at the Empire hotel. We did the paranormal tour of the old hospital, bit overpriced for what you get, still not convinced of the presence of spirits though.

Queenstown is a fabulous place to visit.
Queenstown is a fabulous place to visit. There's a lot to see, some great walks, and the people are really friendly and helpful. It's an old mining town surrounded by spectacular mountains and you'll need more than a few days to fully appreciate what it has to offer. We were there for 4 days during the Unconformity Festival held biannually in October but wished we had longer. The weather was fabulous for the first 2 days and then it rained, which is quite common in this area but shouldn't put anyone off visiting. One of our favourite places to eat was JJ's where we had delicious homemade vegetable soup and absolutely delectable bread and butter pudding! The Gallery Museum was also a highlight with its wonderful mining history display. Even just walking around the streets is a treat. This quirky town should be on everyone's itinerary when visiting Tasmania - but don't forget your raincoat.

Queenstown has lost most of its population.
Queenstown has lost most of its population. There are many vacant storefronts on Main Street. We enjoyed our overnight stay but found no reason to stay longer. I hope they find a way to revitalize their town! Nice people and great food at our hotel.

I met the most friendly and helpful people in Queenstown.
I met the most friendly and helpful people in Queenstown. I was disappointed the train wasn't running, due to maintenance. Without the train, l spent my time visiting art places and the museum. I also looked at iron bluff and the waterfall. Throughly enjoyed lots of coffee at MoonScape.
I drove to Queenstown from Strahan after a World Heritage day cruise, rather than stay in Strahan for a second night, as Queenstown is about an hour closer to Hobart. The hotel suited my needs for a short overnight stay so I could take a Wilderness Railway trip. The staff were very friendly. Renovated shower, lovely towels and sheets. It was a cold miserable day and the room was lovely and warm when I arrived. It was convenient to use their restaurant, plenty of choice, huge serve and a good meal.
Never judge a book by its cover! Restoration was being undertaken on the front balcony of the hotel when we arrived. Travel inside and there has been extensive refurbishment! Our room and adjacent bathroom were excellent, modern, comfortable and offered us everything we needed for our stay. We had to leave at 7:00am the next day and the lovely owners were most obliging in having an early plentiful breakfast ready for us. Highly recommended!!
Visiting Queenstown and staying at Penghana is an absolute must!! It is pure luxury and Steve the host is outstanding. Anything you need he will assist with including driving you to and from your accommodation to dinner and back. We have travelled all around the world and this is by far the best place we have stayed. It’s above and beyond 5 star ⭐️ ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Mountain view motel is a cheap place to stay. The staff were friendly and helpful. It is a mix of back packers accommodation, workers and tourists. It is rated as 2 stars so if you are happy to accept that, it is an perfect option for anyone on a budget. Fantastic view. All the tourists I spoke to there were happy with the rooms.
This was the ‘find of the century.
Renovated an old hotel. Breakfast in the old bar. Beautifully presented. Staff fantastic. Great warm lounge to relax and read in.
If after a great coffee, go to the Railway station.
Eating? Confluence is the best. Service and food was superb.
Empire said no red wine available by the glass!
No breakfasts, we carried our own, Queenstown at present ius in a state of inaction, however we did learn that the Copper mine has been purchased by an African Company and will be re-opening, which will mean a great deal to this town, and we wish them all the Best
A lovely spacious motel room with a kitchen, a shower and a bath. Clean, neat and tidy. We arrived late and it was easy to arrange a key pick-up. The view was fantastic - mountains at your step! And the restaurant nearby had fantastic Chicken Kiyev, recommend 100%
The location is perfect for riding the West Coast Rail which leaves right across the road. We also travelled to Strahan from here to do the Gordon River Cruises. The Empire Hotel is beautiful inside and very cosy and the food was great.
The hotel has been renovated and the rooms are top quality. The beds were very comfortable and the bathroom was top class. The breakfast was also a very good continental breakfast with cereals, toast, yogurt, fruit and ham and cheese.
had breakfast at local Puffing train station.. nice and museum historial at Impireal Hotel was brilliant
And also we were running very late to arrive hotel and glad to find keys are waiting for us ..
Newly renovated „old“ hotel in Queenstown with loads of character and great hosts. If your looking for the classic smalltown hotel with a good amount of extraordinary - stay here!
Beautiful historic hotel overlooking Queenstown. Warm owners who spent considerable time welcoming us; always approachable for advice and good conversation. Yummy breakfast.
There was convenient parking and wifi worked in the hotel foyer. The attached restaurant served standard pub food. The room was warm (temperature outside was quite cool).
Property is not too far from the centre of town. The self contained room was roomy and clean. We were greeted by a lovely man who also gave us hints of what to see and do.
Staff were friendly. Room was small but comfortable. Bed was great. Food at the bar was lovely. Had 3 nights eating in and never had a bad meal. Big servings and tasty.
