We loved this hotel and would happily stay here again. The room is huge and the beds are very comfortable. Our 12 year old loved the bed up in the little nook and it had a nice shelf for his stuff and an outlet. The washing machine was great and the staff provided detergent when asked. Bottled water was provided daily, which was really nice considering how hot it was, but there is also a “filtered water” tap which we found perfectly fine. The breakfast… wow. We enjoyed it so much. As vegetarians we were so pleased that there were so many options and we really took advantage of the many Chinese dishes that were available every day. Our child enjoyed some of them and some days he just ate Cocoa Puffs or a croissant but he was happy enough and we ate here every day and looked forward to it. We stayed here for 6 nights and would have been happy to stay longer. We took the subway almost exclusively, and it is a little bit of a walk so take that into consideration. We didn’t find it particularly problematic to walk 15-20 minutes even in the heat, but if that’s a deal breaker you should look elsewhere. We thought this was a great location and the staff were friendly and helpful with varying degrees of English proficiency. Most importantly they want to help you, so it all works out.

Great employees in the hotel. I recommend getting excursions in the hotel. About great wall extras - old style chairs are enough, not necessarily to buy both kinds of lifts (especially if you are with child).

FAQs about hotels in Beijing

From Chinese Dynasties to Cultural Dynamics

A world-renowned gem, sprawling Beijing has magnificent monuments and peaceful parks. At its heart is the world’s largest square, Tiananmen, surrounded by important museums and the amazing Forbidden City. This 15th-century, walled complex of palaces neighbors Jingshan Park and Beihai Park with its imperial garden.

Across from Tiananmen Square is the ultra-modern National Center for Perfoming Arts, a beacon of the city’s culture so impressively displayed at the opening and closing ceremonies of the 2008 Beijing Olympics in the Bird’s Nest Stadium.

To its east is the UNESCO World Heritage listed Summer Palace, a lakeside retreat of emperors, while also UNESCO listed is the grand Temple of Heaven in Chongwen district, where remnants of Ming dynasty city walls are visible. Nearby are several hutongs, narrow alleys with traditional architecture, that contrast with wider, modern roads like Beijing Financial Street, the city's business area.

The most popular Beijing shopping street is Wangfujing, and other must-see sights include the giant pandas at Beijing Zoo and the Great Wall of China, an easy day trip from Beijing.

As you would expect from the capital of the world’s most populous country, there are a good number of 5-star hotels in Beijing on Booking.com, mainly in the Dongcheng and Chaoyang districts. There are also several hotels near Beijing Capital Airport in the northeast.

Bejing is a great city to visit, but one has to do some home work before jetting off to Bejing. The western countries applications like Google Maps, Uber do not work in Bejing, therfore one has to be sure to have some Chinese Apps installed on your phones before coming to Bejing. Apps like Ali Pay, Wee Chat, the Chinese Version of Google Maps called Amap, it is a must. One has to have a Global esim if possible and be able to download all of these apps in order to move around in Bejing easily. Otherwise moving around will be a struggle. All in all great city to visit.

People were extremally friendly and helpful. Not everyone spoke English but enough people could or use your translation app. Felt very safe walking along the alleys late at night. We could rent a taxi inexpensively to take us to the Great Wall and waited until we were done, which was probably the highlight of the stay. Wanted to see the Forbidden City and Tienemen Square but our stay was too brief and Forbidden City is closed on Mondays.

Beijing is an ancient and modern city that has a lot to offer. Fall or Spring is the best season to visit Beijing. You may enjoy visiting the historical sites such as YuanMingYuan, or wondering in the very modern and luxurious shopping centers, such as China World Trade Center or SKP. If you can navigate the Subway system and download a riding APP called DIDI, you’ll feel much more freedom with your travel experience there. The city is secure and neat. A must go if you want to see great historical sites such as the Great Wall.

Beijing is a city where people are very friendly and hospitable. People often do not speak English, but they often use a mobile translator and try to help. The architecture of the center of Beijing, in my opinion, is a must-see. The food is very cheap and the choice is huge. I was far from the business center and was not afraid at all. It is a very safe country to travel. Moreover, a bus ride costs only 2 yuan, and the subway only 4-6 yuan.

Beijing is a city that deserves to be explored without...

Beijing is a city that deserves to be explored without rushing. Steeped in thousands of years of history and tradition, it offers an endless list of stories waiting to be discovered. To truly take it all in, plan for at least a full week — anything less will feel like you’re just scratching the surface. Here, you’ll find a world-class food scene, efficient public transportation, and a fascinating mix of imperial landmarks and futuristic architecture. From the grandeur of the Forbidden City to the shimmering skylines of its business districts, every corner tells a different story. That said, the city is still growing into its role as a truly international destination. Roughly 99% of basic information — from transport signs to menus and attraction details — is available only in Chinese. Locals, while respectful, can feel a bit distant and may seem impatient with foreign visitors. To fully enjoy Beijing without stress, a few essentials are non-negotiable: Alipay linked to your credit card — the go-to payment method for almost everything. A good VPN like Hola Fly to stay connected with the outside world. A high-capacity power bank to keep your phone charged while navigating the city. With these three tools, you can unlock the very best of China’s capital — a destination where the past and future meet in the most spectacular way.

I had a great stay at this hotel in Beijing. The breakfast was delicious, and it was convenient to get to the airport, with a train taking about 30 minutes. The nearest metro station is a 10-15 minute walk, which wasn't a big issue. The hotel offers laundry services, but you need to purchase tokens for the machines. The rooms were nice, and I was pleasantly surprised with a complimentary bottle of wine for my birthday. The staff was always helpful, which made my stay even better. Overall, I really enjoyed my time here.

We have only booked to stay in Holiday Inn Express during our 15 days trip in China. I would say this hotel needs an upgrade especially the bathroom compared to the others which we have stayed. Location is good, about 10 minutes walk to the nearest subway station and nearby to shops too. We found a good Chinese restaurant which is only a block away serving Beijing Duck at a reasonable price; the lady boss is very generous and friendly. She told us about the Agriculture Temple nearby.

Comfortable room. Very pleasant, helpful and nice staff. Fantastic location. For us it was the perfect spot to stay in Beijing. We unfortunately got some very bad news while we were there, my mom passed away unexpectedly, and we had to cut out trip to China short. We are planning a new trip this August and are hoping to stay at Sunworld Dynasty hotel again.
