Perfect location to explore the Poás area. Beautiful hotel grounds and vistas of the surrounding area. Our bed was comfortable, and the room was clean, spacious, and artfully decorated. Breakfast was a yummy traditional Costa Rican breakfast with eggs, gallo pinto, cheese, avocado, and plantain. Great coffee, too. Our host was friendly, helpful, and always available. We would stay here again.

We liked everything. We loved the brightness, the cleanliness and the accommodating staff. The breakfast has a large variety of delicious food. Also it's in a great location, right by a huge mall. We reserved a room with a king size bed but it was a queen size. After a long day we needed more bed space. I asked for a room with 2 queen beds which they rradily gave us without any extra charge.

This was our first hotel of our trip and it was absolutely perfect for what we needed. Accessible, safe parking, and the room was great. We would have liked to stay there an extra few nights to enjoy the grounds and pool. The included breakfast was also very good.

Such a beautiful place to stay super close to SJO Airport! The rooms are beautiful and spacious, the pool view is great, but my favorite part was the restaurant! After a long day of travel, it was so nice to eat dinner right there at the hotel! Our server Nelson, who took care of us for dinner and breakfast, was amazing and the food was delicious as well! Overall, great experience!

    Just a medium sized town with everything you need.

    Just a medium sized town with everything you need. There is a Wal Mart, Denny's and lots of other restaurants, stores and cafes. There is not a lot to see in the town for tourists, but it is easy to get into San Jose where you can get a bus to Jaco which has a great beach. You can walk into the town easily and it felt very safe, but I recommend taking the local bus. I would only go here to get to another place, but for a day or 2 it is a nice town to visit.

    San Jose and the area around the airport doesn't have much to recommend it beyond getting in and out of the country. After driving around for two hours to see the highlights, we agreed we couldn't get out of the city fast enough. We ate at the Taj Mahal location near the hotel (had come highly recommended as we'd heard it was the best Indian food around and was an iconic location with peacocks walking around, etc), but the airport location is just an open air restaurant in a strip mall next door to a Starbucks.

    Alajuela was central for us as we visited La Paz the first...

    Alajuela was central for us as we visited La Paz the first day and it was an easy drive back after hiking up and down to see the waterfall and gardens at La Paz. Served as a good jumping off point the next day for a visit to downtown Sam Jose, the National Theater, the museum and central market.

    Alajuela has everything I like in a city without much down side. It's clean and safe with many markets, shops, malls, transportation options, green spaces and restaurants. It even has a large dance school.

    We spent 30 days in Costa Rica and loved it.

    We spent 30 days in Costa Rica and loved it. Alajuela was only for flying to and from Costa Rica. It has horrible traffic and nothing worth seeing that I know of. But its airport has better flight connections for us than Liberia airport. The airport itself is good, but getting in and out is a hassle!

    We used Alajuela as a base location to launch the day trip...

    We used Alajuela as a base location to launch the day trip to Sarchi and Zarcero using a rental car, since our next outing was visiting friends south of San Juan. However, the heavy commuter traffic near Alajuela, SJO Airport, and San Juan adds 30-70 minutes (sometimes doubling travel times) at rush hours, plus choking exhaust. Two nights were enough near Alajuela. However, staying in Sarchi or Zarcero overnight instead would have been nicer; or an all-inclusive tour there would be most relaxing. For rides in Alajuela and San Juan, Uber is cheaper than taxi and is made secure by exchanged pin code. FYI: Car rental is surprisingly cheap and was well worthwhile for visiting Arenal and La Fortuna on our own schedule, nice for 5 nights (2.5 hours drive from Alejuela). A private shuttle to Arenal would be more relaxing than renting a car on the twisty mountain roads, but will cost significantly more than driving yourself.

    The location is very good. Only a short walk to the City Mall and a 7-10 minute drive to the airport. If you are even in a decent physical condition, you can walk to the airport with your backpack. There are numerous restaurants nearby and even more in the City Mall. Also a cheap (at least in costa rican prices) soda right outside the door. The place felt safe and there is a well locked main door into the hotel. Also a well equipped kitchen is in the house if you have time to cook by yourself. Coffee machine is also provided.
