Santa Teresa is becoming quite popular, and the prices definitely reflect this. We were not there during high season but just after as rainy season started. The weather was still awesome 98% of the time and we got great beach days. The shopping is good but pricey - think Los Angeles prices for boutiques. We ate at Rocamar twice because the food was affordable, the sunsets unbeatable and the music fantastic. Very family-friendly. Banana Beach was a draw for the crowds but truthfully we had drinks (great) and calamari (not so good) and left because it was full of touristy folks looking for big box experiences, which we were not. We rented an atv for a day to head to Montezuma for the beach and waterfalls and ended up loving the shops and restaurants right on the water in that little place, so definitely do that on one of your days! We did the Isla Tortuga tour from our stay at Buena Onda and it was worth the cost considering they picked us up and dropped us off at our hotel, provided snorkel gear, and fed us lunch and beers! Overall Santa Teresa was lovely. We were happy we did this stay for 6 nights and definitely would stay again. Be sure your accommodations are on the actual beach and/or you are aware of the hills going to your hotels! And finally, we as a late thirties couple with no kids didn't feel the need for a car and were happy to not have paid exorbitant amounts of money to rent one. We took a private shuttle from Liberia airport ($300 with tip for a 5 hour ride) to ST then another to Rio Perdido in Bagaches ($475 with tip) for a 4 day stay in the jungle and from there to the airport ($164). It was well worth not driving and we paid way less for three private cars than we would have done to drive. Santa Teresa overall was a great bougie beach town. If you're looking for less tourism Nosara and Montezuma might be worth looking into on Nicoya!
We loved the little town, Gigi Brown was down a ways so we were at peace to sleep. You can hear the howler monkeys all day and night! So amazing! We took an ATV to Montemzuma for a day to the waterfalls and with "Crazy Carlos", I highly recommend finding this guy! He made our day! And we have amazing couples photos because of him. Jumping off waterfalls and he took us to some amazing places we would have never been.
Unforgettable Stay Before I booked this excellent hotel, I had question marks because it is new. But I had a unique experience, so I extended my stay for one more night.! Certainly one of the best hotels I've been to during my visits to Costa Rica. They have upgraded me to a room on the beach with a fantastic ocean view. The room has a private pool. The room was spacious and well decorated. Shannel, the property manager, and her staff make my stay unforgettable. The breakfast and the food were delicious too. I am sure that I will come back again.
Traveled the world, and this beach is in my top 3! For surfers it doesn't get much better. Incredible wide, clean beaches, lovely people, and amazing sunsets. The rocks make for amazing tide pools my kids couldn't wait to get out and explore every day. My second time here and it looks there a now life guards, which is a plus. The sunsets are not to be missed !
The beach is awesome but the crowd became (looking 9 yrs back) oversexed & the attitude became too cool to be real. The ATVs are to aggressive and are destroying the atmosphere - also the way the people are driving them. Costa Rica - as a part of its green & eco image - should foster bikes and pedestrians (no side walk in ST!). And the prizes... sometimes really kind of overpriced but sometimes you can find value & money. For families: stay more in north of ST.
A community for young people as it seems that the average age is under 30years old. Nevertheless, everyone is so friendly and welcoming. I thought it was the capital of beautiful girls on ATV as it is the main form of transportation on Main Street the narrow dirty road does not allow to travel at a fast rate but it has its charm. It is definitely a place to visit and the fact that it is still maintain as a raw environmental setting without the commercialize aspect normally observed on beachfront, Santa Teresa is extremely well preserve as far as environment is concern, Bravo!!!
Santa Teresa Beach
We had an amazing stay at Villas Solar and would have loved to stay even longer but it was full. The location is exceptional, it is in the center of Santa Teresa, close to all the best restaurants, shops and beach access. The villa is spacious, quiet and equipped with everything you need! The host Greg is great! He gave us amazing recommendations for surfing, yoga (he even joined us for a class!) and set us up with the taxi from Tambor airport. We can't wait for our next visit!
It was the best hotel out of all I stayed in Santa Ana! It looks much better in real life than in photos. Major plus is the rooms are far away from the road, so you hear the ocean instead of car engines. Beautiful area, pool, animals in the trees. Super nice staff, helpful, accommodating and friendly. The room is decorated in warm, pleasant colours, very comfy and nice. It was as expensive as any place in Santa Teresa, but in this case the price felt (somewhat) justified.
Santa Teresa Beach
Loved the vibe and decor of this place. I really enjoyed the hammock outside and simple room decor. The staff was so nice and the surf experience was the best I have had!! Marcos, Carlos, Oscar and Rudy were so helpful and I would highly recommend them for surf lessons. Jana, Monica, and Alejandra were also so nice and welcoming. Fell in love with Santa Teresa and El Gato Rojas was a big reason for that. Can’t wait to come visit again. Muchas Gracias, El Gato Rojas
Santa Teresa Beach
La posada stuff was super nice and kind, they helped me with everything I needed. Breakfast was good and the dorms are clean and welcoming. Kitchen is always clean and if you have groceries you can put them in the fridge or the pantry in a basket with your name labeled on it. Bathroom is pretty big, no warm water but it’s a common thing in all Santa Teresa in general. I enjoy my time in la posada so much!
Santa Teresa Beach
Excellent hosts - gave us a comprehensive list of all the best restaurants, distances and meal types etc, and also arranged surfing lessons for us. Property has a boho feel and a fantastic pool area. Location is ideal - short 5/10 minute walk to the beach. We stayed at a few different areas within CR and found Santa Teresa to have the best food options and good amount of stuff going on.
Santa Teresa Beach
We had a fantastic stay from beginning to the end. The bungalow was perfect for three women—peaceful, gorgeous, beautiful views from the garden, great location to everything in Santa Teresa! Rocio, our on-site host, was exceptional, attentive to our requests, informative local guide on all things in the area! Would absolutely stay again.
Santa Teresa Beach
This place is absolutely amazing! Every detail was fantastic. The location is great, decor well thought out and we just felt so spoiled. We had the best stay and can’t wait to go back. Located ten mins from the beach, you’ll definitely need an ATV or vehicle. Lots of do in Santa Teresa and we will be returning!
The bungalow is really big and well constructed, therefore it never gets hot inside. It is surrounded by trees inhabited by monkeys and other animals so you get the real jungle feeling even if you are in the center of Santa Teresa;) It is a few steps from the beach and from all the restaurants and cafés.
Nacho, our fabulous host/concierge/property manager was so helpful and responsive to all of our needs. Truly felt like coming home each day. Such a quaint little property, just a short walk to one of the best beaches in the world, and a beautiful 10 minute ATV ride to Santa Teresa.
Santa Teresa Beach
This is one one the best places we’ve stayed in Santa Teresa. the location was superb, everything was spotless clean and the beds are exceptionally comfortable.the linens were good and we really got a good nights sleep. thank you Barbara for making the stay unforgettable.
Great breakfast, friendly, accommodating staff, very nice pool, very quiet anywhere inside the property, nice and close to the beach, clean, nice size rooms. Very nice breakfast area and lounging by the pool was very nice. Good price for Santa Teresa.
This is the most beautiful property in Santa Teresa. The views are incredible and the villas are very well done. Elena was a fabulous host and helped us book incredible activities. We will definitely be back!
Great place on the beachfront at the very north of Santa Teresa. Most accommodations are next to the main road and thus, this hotel is a very good choice for a budget location on the ocean.
Santa Teresa Beach
Fresh fruit in the fridge! Safe, clean little place that was perfect for the 3 of us. It is a nice place for the cost and for not knowing anything about Santa Teresa.
Santa Teresa Beach
very comfortable and clean appartement, beautiful and relaxing garden, 3 min from the beach, in the center of Santa Teresa
Santa Teresa Beach
So close to the beach, and at one of the best areas of the beach in all of Santa Teresa!
Santa Teresa Beach
