Offering a year-round outdoor pool, barbecue and sun terrace, Santa Teresa Surf Vista Villas is set in Santa Teresa in the Puntarenas Region, 6.8 mi from Montezuma.

We loved staying here. The view is amazing and the room is comfy and cute. The sunsets are nice on the beach, but trust me they’re even better in a hammock overlooking the entire ocean from your villa. Andy is so helpful and nice, when we come back to Santa Teresa we will definitely stay here again.

This eco-friendly, boutique hotel is located in pretty Santa Teresa on the Nicoya Peninsula.

The Eco Chic Hotel Canaima Chill House was booked quickly, as there were not a lot of options left, save for crowded hostels and dormitories. It was slightly out of my price range, but occasionally, I like to splurge. I have spent enough time in this country convincing people I am not rich... I might as well second guess myself from time to time. It was eco. It was chill. And it was definitely chic. WOW! There was NOTHING wrong with this place. In fact, had I been blessed with a more affluent and luxurious lifestyle, I might consider staying here for a year... or more. It was my own personal Eden for the evening. My spacious, boutique suite could have accommodated 4-5 people, but I had the entire place to myself and I properly planned to use every single second of it. The room had a Sleeping Beauty bed, with full netting and grand windows where my head lie, giving a magical good morning view out into the garden, when I awoke. Even the shower had a jungle view... built right into the backside of the lush labyrinth. The gardens were tended to and cared for, but not pristine. They were symbolic of a 'chill' expression and mirrored that of the surrounding tropical entanglement. Wild. Lush. In the middle of my own private rainforest oasis, was a small pool, no bigger than that of a backyard plunge pool. After a refreshing dip, I climbed into the hammock chair that hung above the water, and relaxed, in pure harmony with nature, and enjoyed a glass of white wine. The colourful birds were chirping all around and the howler monkeys were making their eerie calls. The patio not only had a full bar table, with open windows into the kitchen area, but also a full glass table set, a hammock and a bamboo swinging bed. I lied there for at least two hours, dripping wet from the pool, and rocking back & forth, back & forth... back & forth. It was so soothing, I forgot to drink my wine!

The people working at Somos are all so friendly and helpfull. We felt super welcome and we absolutely loved staying here. The Deluxe dorm is the best you can get: biggest and most comfortable beds with privacy. We would recommend everybody staying here, we booked an extra night because we didn't want to leave. It's easy to meet new people because there is live music almost every night in the bar. Also, there are some really nice rooms where you can hang out and meet new people: the cafe, the living room, the swimming Pool, playing pool...

As a solo traveler I like going to Santa Teresa, I feel very safe and it seems everyone is aware of the importance to look after each other, specially between women. The quality of the food served in every restaurant, coffee place or bar is very high, therefore, quality over price is fair. And the beach itself is very beautiful, and the sunsets are always amazing!

There is a lot to do in Santa Teresa - loads of yoga studios, surfing, cafes and restaurants and options for other trips. The beach itself is lovely but some of the surrounding beaches are better and so it would help to have a car if you want to explore (but not needed) - I found Santa Teresa beach a bit busier and slightly less beautiful than others (but it is still lovely!). I found the town a bit dusty and unfriendly, which is a shame. I got the sense that maybe there are too many tourists/ it’s a bit of a victim of its own success.

This is my favorite beach in Costa Rica, safe for women solo travelers and the services such as restaurants and bars are of very good quality. The only thing I do not like about this place is that the main road is not paved with lots of dust all over the placess.

I will definitely stay here again next time I'm in town.

I will definitely stay here again next time I'm in town. Very quiet location, just off the main road. If you are driving, be prepared because there is one road in Santa Teresa and it is mostly dirt and full of potholes. Be sure to gas up in Cobano because there isn't a gas station. Drift Bar has amazing food and drinks. La Gilda Art Cafe breakfast was amazing.

    Great surf destination.

Great surf destination. There are 3 beaches: Santa Teresa, Carmen and Mal Pais. ST beach is the most popular, rightfully so due to the soft sand and sandy bottom for surfing, and a bit more consistency. El Carmen has a few rocks, also nice for surfing and beach walks, it’s more tranquil. The whole town is one very long stretch of a road so be sure to stay where you plan on hanging out, otherwise it’s a long walk from one end to another. Lots of ATV rental options (quite expensive) and also taxis.

I was there at the end of November and it was still rainy season. The main road was a long strip of mud. Not an easy place to walk around as there are no sidewalks. You walk on the road with the cars, trucks, ATVs, motorcycles. The beach provides a beautiful place to walk. I had a birthday dinner at Tropica Latino which has tables right on the beach. Best margarita! Eat Streets is excellent. I had the best Frappuccino I've ever had there! And the arepas @ Good Munchies are fabulous. Best of all is Banana Beach which is like a beach club with day beds, music but without the cover. Loved it!

We loved the whole vibe of this hotel. We stayed in a beachfront bungalow, all of which are located only 10 paces from a beautiful, quiet stretch of beach. The bungalow itself was a good size with some very nice touches. You are 400yards from the centre of Santa Teresa which had a younger, laid back feel to it with alot of great places to eat and drink. This is a super relaxing hotel and town to visit. It may be worth noting that the surf and riptide here is quite strong, you wouldn't want young ones to enjoy the sea unsupervised.

The hotel itself is a pure pearl in the middle of the trees, extremely quiet and peaceful, without the massive traffic which can be found in Santa Teresa instead. Our room was really modern, equipped with everything you might need, and with a cool balcony in front of it. It was also really close to the hotel pool which was pretty cool. Breakfast was rich and very good, with a few different choices. Also, the hotel staff and the guys taking care of the hotel bar were extremely friendly and helpful. A flawless experience.

Overall, from what I can see, this hotel is the place to stay in Santa Teresa. It is located at the southern end of the town and is easy walking distance to bars, good restaurants, the beach and banks. Room was excellent and it was one of the very few places that I have stayed in Costa Rica that had an ice machine!!! Breakfast was great and in a nice outdoor setting. The best thing was the staff and their willingness to go over the bar to assist clients. Of special note are David, Toto and Luís.
