Mainz is a fantastic city. It has all the flavors what I long for. The strong history heritage, z.b. Mainz dom; the best wein Jard region of the world, z.b Rhine Weingau; authentic German food; the active growing business environment; the city is not big but just big enough for everything. Mainz is the city , the longer you stay, the more you love and you will go away. Ich liebe Mainz.

The location is great if you have an early departure from the train station, but not so great if you want to go out to the old town in the evening.
What I liked was the convenience around my train trip snd the good quality of the hotel.

Mainz is a relatively small city founded in Roman times and
Mainz is a relatively small city founded in Roman times and
sits where the Rhine and Main rivers meet. Some Roman ruins still remain.
There is plenty of good shopping, places of interest and some great restaurants, a couple of days in the city is probably enough.
The Rhine forms the border between Rhineland Palatinate and Hessen, so you may need different travel tickets if you leave Mainz itself.
To see further afield, either the rhineland or hessen day tickets give up to five people unlimited rail travel for a very reasonable cost (about £30) so you can explore a large area cheaply.

I was there for work, so I didn’t act much as a tourist.
Anyway I think that Mainz is a rather typical German city with an interesting Altstadt and good transportation. All the other districts I visited were rather abandoned, with tones of waste on the streets and an air of what the French call “decadence”. I didn’t feel safe walking back to my hotel at night and for 4 whole days I didn’t meet just one policeman.

Mainz is a great place to stay if you're flying into/out of...
Mainz is a great place to stay if you're flying into/out of the Frankfurt airport. A short 20-minute ride via the S Bahn takes you to a peaceful town with an amazing amount of things to see.
In addition to the Gutenberg Bible Museum, this small but clean and safe city has an amazing Dom and Aldstadt to visit.
Lovely accommodation, close to the train station with plenty of restaurants and shops nearby. Not too far from the shopping centre and the old town and the river are within walking distance. The room itself was spotlessly clean, with cooking facilities if needed. The room was cleaned daily and there was a breakfast included which, although described as a 'snack' was Lovely and fresh and more than enough to start the day. The staff could not have been more helpful and communication was excellent. I would certainly recommend this hotel.
Reception lady was great . Friendly , very helpful and made us feel at ease . Rode our bikes to the front of the hotel and just wheeled them in to the lobby for safe keeping . Really nice to have an elevator for access to upper floors .On site Italian Restaurant was excellent with great service and with many food choices all at extremely reasonable price point . Breakfast was good with hot and cold food choices. Within 160m. of the train station Mainz Hbf yet quiet at night .
Comfortable bed and very clean room and bathroom.
The hotel is an attractive eighteenth century building in the heart of Mainz. Very convenient for most of the sites, especially the incredible Chagall windows in St Stephan's Church. Plenty of space for parking inside the complex, which the proprietor will help you to access. Our unit was spacious and well equipped, with a picturesque view of the garden with Christmas lights. Breakfast is not served, but is available from 0900 in a very good cafe just across the road.
The location of hotel was perfect as it was barely five minutes walk to Mainz cathedral as well as seemingly the main high street and the various shops, bars and restaurants that lined it. The rooms were tidy and well provisioned whilst the breakfast on offer was very satisfactory. I also found the hotel staff very responsive to the emailed questions I sent ahead of our stay as well in negotiating an extra night's stay.
It is in the middle of the old town of Mainz, It is quite well equiped and spacious. There is a bath tub which I enjoyed. It is quiet and tranquil with a supermarket diagonally across the street.
It is within walking distance to everything and a highlight was the meal at the restaurant (not belonging to the apartment owner(s)) downstairs in the little parking? square in front of the apoartments, but off the street.
This is a simple business hotel located in an industrial/office outlying area. It is too far to walk into the historic part of Mainz. The rooms are modern if a bit on the small side and the mini bar has free non-alchoholic drinks like juice, soda, and sparkling water. The beds are very firm but comfortable. The air conditioning was strong.
We cant arrive because we have a really big problem that loose a bag with passport etc and we have to return to the city we loose it. We explain to the hotel that we have really documents of the police that explain the reason that we can reach the reservation. We told to booking but the payment was already make. :(
the room is quiet, you don't hear anything from the road. The bed is comfortable and the location is good, within walking distance to the city. If you are lucky, you can park your car in front of the hotel for free, otherwise, there is a parking lot just opposite of the hotel which doesn't cost that much at all.
We were only there for one night to experience Mainz Oktoberfest. It was the closest hotel to the festival, and it was just what we needed. Close enough to the tram so that you don't need a car to get there. Bed and shower were great. We opted for the breakfast and it was a great deal for around 5 euro.
The hotel is exceptionally clean and the staff are welcoming. Our room was a good size and the bed was very comfortable, the bathroom had plenty of room with a very good shower. The location is quiet and characterful but is only a short distance from shops and transport into the centre of Mainz.
Simple, uncomplicated, clean. The hotel stands just a couple minute walk from the Mainz Hbf, surrounded by restaurants and bars, and supermarkets. But you wouldn't be disturbed by the noises from the outside. Well maintained good old hotel. I'll come back again (this was my second stay!).
The hotel positively surprised us. It is located right by the central train station of Mainz and I was a bit concerned about the area but we had no issues, no nosie. The hotel is very well maintained and the room was very nice and comfortable. Also the breakfaast was very nice.
The hotel is located just down the street from the Altstadt, where we walked around and had dinner on our first night. The staff was friendly and helpful and the parking garage had a clearance of 2,2 meters, which was important since the rental car company gave us a giant van.
Right across from Mainz main station, hotel seems brand new everywhere, with fast WiFi, lots of power outlets, comfortable bed. Everything is clean and well designed. Two bonuses for travelers are free sauna room and friendly English-speaking staff.
Ideal location on the edge of the Old Town, overlooking the Rhine River, enabled plenty of opportunities to explore the areas around the hotel. Staff were welcoming and friendly. Quality breakfast in the hotel restaurant.
Ideal if you travel by train and want to reach the main station swiftly – about a 10 minute walk. Hotel is clean and neat, room was spacious and comfortable enough. Good and plentiful breakfast.
It's within the walking distance of the train station and next to the river. The interior of the hotel looks very new. With a 20min walk, you can reach the heart of the city.
Directly opposite of Mainz train station. Very convenient to travel in and out of Mainz. Staff is helpful in providing information on to-do activities in Mainz.
