They allowed us to check in early from 12pm as we were going to a wedding which was good, but even when we arrived at 12:30pm the room wasn't quite ready so we had to wait 10 minutes or so which wasn't the end of the world for us, but may have been for others in even more of a hurry.

It was a beautiful place.
It was a beautiful place. People are very friendly and chatty. Has everything you need close by. A lovely peaceful river walk nearby. Lots of places to eat. Tip, the roads are busy even during the night. They had lorries passing through early hours, maybe those who like a quiet night, it would not be ideal staying in the town centre. Plenty of places to stay off the town centre though. Well worth the visit anyway. We are going back and will stay on the high Street.

It's a very quaint little town .
It's a very quaint little town . There are lovely walks by the river past the castle walls we managed to see a kingfisher which was a big bonus. The castle itself is well worth a visit and just up the road is the Bowes museum . Do go and visit that especially around 2.pm the staff let you see a beautiful model of a swan that still works and is over 250 years old, the restaurant there is very nice as well.
We will do our best to stop again next year on our way north .

Barnard Castle is a beautiful old market town and well furnished with good shops, cafes and pubs. The people are friendly and very helpful. There is plentiful history and fine architecture to be enjoyed.
We were looking for a stay near High Force and Barnard Castle so this was perfect! A really reasonable rate with hearty breakfast included. We received simple instructions of how to access our room and were very pleasantly surprised at the lovely room we had. So comfy. We had a shared bathroom but didn’t see another person during our stay. The staff were lovely and the locals friendly and helpful in the bar.
A little gem right in the town centre of Barnard Castle.
The rooms were cleaned to a very high level and very modern.
The food was second to none and the staff work the backsides off morning, noon and night!
