A very unique place to stay within easy access into Edinburgh with the tram. The staff were exceptionally friendly, helpful and knowledgeable about the boat and the refurbishment. Nothing was any bother at all. The service from pre-check in to check out really was second to none. Rooms were comfortable and didn't have any TVs which was actually a refreshing change. Plenty of plug sockets near the bed. Also very nice to see some Scottish toiletries from Arran Aromatics. Breakfast was delicious (continental) and we used the lounge area in the evening to play Uno with a few refreshments.

FAQs about hotels in Edinburgh

A Feast for the Senses

A city of heritage, heart and of course Hogmanay, Scotland’s capital is vibrant and edgy. Whether or not you come for one of its many festivals, Edinburgh is quite simply a feast for the senses.

The wealth of Edinburgh sights ranges from Holyrood Palace to the Botanical Gardens, Princes Street to the Royal Mile. Overseeing them all is majestic Edinburgh Castle. Be there at sunset on a clear day to see the city below bathed in a warm, orange glow. Simply stunning.

Wandering the streets, the smell of fish and chips wafts by, with the unique twist of salt ‘n’ sauce – a must-try variation on this favourite dish. Follow it up with a smooth whisky and you’ll start to feel like a local.

For a taste of Scottish culture, a kilt-wearing busker often plays the bagpipes on Waverley Bridge, while traditional folk music can be heard in some Old Town pubs. Complete your stay with a rugby match at Murrayfield or a round at one of the city’s 14 golf clubs, and you’ll have the true Edinburgh experience.

Whether you are looking for hotels near Edinburgh Airport or accommodations in the city center, Booking.com has a great range to choose from.

I know Edinburgh well. I regard it as an essential place to visit if you want to experience the full range of what the UK has to offer. It is steeped in history, is a major centre of culture and is well geared up to cater for visitors.

I love the history and architecture around the city centre.

I love the history and architecture around the city centre. Go up Calton hill to watch the sunset over the city, Holyrood Palace is worth going to (stop to listen to a talk if it's on) and, of course, the Castle is definitely worth a visit (book online before you go as they often sell out). It is a small city so easy to walk everywhere - although, be warned, it is hilly! I went on 2 tours to see more of the surrounding area with a company called Timberbush tours who I would highly recommend and was a great way to see lots without a car. My favourite places to eat were Pulse (for healthy, vegan food), The Ladder (especially for brunch) and Maker's Mash (the haggis is good).

Edinburgh's a beautiful historic city.

Edinburgh's a beautiful historic city. It's so easy to get around by train, tram or bus. My daughter and I visited Edinburgh Castle, Greyfriars Cemetery and other sites connected to Harry Potter (we didn't do the guided HP tour). Our favourite place was Camera Obscura, a fantastic interactive museum - it's a bit pricey for larger families, but well worth the visit.

Edinburgh is such a beautiful city with lots to see and do, plenty of great restaurants and bars and lots of different tours to keep you busy. Plenty of attractions with lots of history and the buildings would remind of something from a fairy tale.

So much to see and do. Great vibe!

So much to see and do. Great vibe! Need 3-4 days to truly appreciate everything. Easy to walk around but slightly hilly in parts and some cobbled areas. The castle is a must see. Really enjoyed the Mary King Close Tour. Enjoyed eating in the Bonnie and Wild marketplace food court in St James shopping centre which was also great for shopping over 4 floors and good shops. Great cocktails and a DJ on in The Alchemist! Wish we would have booked for longer.

Stunning hotel with great leisure facilities and swimming pool, set amidst beautiful parkland and a golf course. The staff are extremely helpful and welcoming. Breakfast and dinner were of a very high standard. Access to central Edinburgh was very straightforward, via the park and ride car park a few miles from the hotel. Great value for money, compared to city centre hotels.

Nice modern clean hotel. Had everything we needed for a 2 night stay to explore Edinburgh. Located a couple of miles outside the city centre so not as expensive as staying in the city itself. £12 in an uber between 4 of us to get to and from the centre so ideal. Staff were lovely.
