I love Frome, especially the number of independent shops/artists/galleries and markets, as well as pedestrian zones. It is close to Stourhead which we visited. It has everything one could want: an excellent coffee shop, an artist supplies shop, a cinema, a wonderful book shop, beautiful paths to walk along the river on.
Such a lovely town, friendly, easy to get around, it was our first time and a great find! Lots more to explore, lovely restaurants (Bistro Lotte; High Pavement); wonderful independent stores and shops. And we hear a great Sunday market which we missed, will return for sure!!
Beautiful little town, lots of independant, arty and antique shops and restaurants. We were told that the monthly independant markets are worth a visit and will be coming back for those. Quite a number of old buildings and architecture. Younger crowd, possibly because some of the streets are quite steep to climb. We did see parents struggling with baby buggies. Good variety of places to eat - especially Dragon Pearl, which has a dedicated Vegan menu! Best chinese take away we've had in a while. Barnacle Bill had some interesting and delicious vegan choices too, such as battered fennel. River House for breakfast a must, but arrive early as it gets very busy. Easy to walk about and see the town in a day. Be aware most shops and some cafe's and restaurants are closed on a Sunday, unless it's the Independant market day! We ended up going for lots of little walks around town instead.
Frome is a lovely town with mainly quirky little shops. It is very hilly. It has little micro pubs everywhere. Frome is very central to get to places like Longlest, Bath and Monkey world. We ate at Corderos lounge very good for Vegan food. Castellos Italian and the Black Pearl Chinese restaurant. All were excellent.
Frome is a great little town in a good location for exploring the area. There are a number of good places to eat - our favourite is the Cordero Lounge where the staff are brilliant and food is good value (great choices of vegetarian dishes too). There is a very pleasant river walk from the bridge on the main road which leads to a park (great for kids/dogs).
The town is quite compact so easy to walk around. A variety of shops to browse around. Along St Catherine’s there are some interesting artisan boutique shops. There are several places to stop for a drink and something to eat. Nice to walk along the river running alongside the town too

Penny’s Mill is a stunningly beautiful place to stay. We stayed for the weekend in the family suite with our two year old son. It was a perfect space to relax and it really helped having the separate bedrooms and lounge area. The breakfast was very nice and the conservatory we ate it in was stunning! It’s situated only a short journey by car to Longleat Safari Park and Nunney is a very pretty little village. The hosts Bill and Rosie were very accommodating and friendly. We wouldn’t hesitate to book again! Thank you for a lovely stay!

Loved the friendly welcome. The barn was wonderful, well equipped and very nicely decorated. The location was remote enough to enjoy the piece and quiet of the Wiltshire/Somerset countryside (and I do mean both Wiltshire and Somerset because the property amost straddles the county line), yet close enough to easily access Frome and other nearby towns. My two children and I used it as a base for a 2 day visit to Longleat (max 15 min drive). All in all excellent value and we would use again if/when we visit that area again.
A nice village inn, no problems parking, good food and drinks, comfortable, friendly and helpful staff, it was the perfect location for exploring the local area being right on the main bus route between Frome and Bath and a short drive to Longleat, which was the main purpose of our visit to this part of the country. We would have no hesitation in staying at the Woolpack again or recommending it to anyone as a base for visiting this area.

Great location, friendly staff and brilliant old building dating from 1311. Stayed on Market Sunday so things were hectic in and outside the hotel. Everything handled well by the team. We have been in hotels in 12 other countries recently and not many had all the room facilities of Archangel, TV, hairdryer, wifi that works, breakfast included, tea & coffee etc etc. Best little town we have visited in 4 visits to the UK.

Great character property, if you don’t like narrow stairs and sloping floors then this place is not for you. Food and service in all areas was great, staff were very friendly and the location of the hotel itself is beautiful.
