Very relaxing town , friendly people, lovely clean well kept area.would highly recommend the pig and whistle at the Healing Manor hotel, excellent menu ,delicious food and wonderful service.A great bonus for us was our hotel and area being pet friendly.
Ideal base for walking the wolds,we walked from here, grimsby to Louth. The town centre was not inviteing ,but we did make a visit to the Heritage centre, great and well worth 2 hours in it. Hard to get a good real sit down meal,as several recommended were booked well in advanced. We had to travel to find walk in resteraunts with out booking well i9n advance.
We had a lovely time in Grimsby. We stayed to be close to Cleethorpes so we could travel in each day. We ended up spending one of our five days in Grimsby itself and found it to be delightful. We walked along a lovely parkway out towards the docks in the day after a brief visit into the centre to purchase a birthday card. The centre had many of the large name stores along with a good number of independent 'boutique' stores. In the evening following a recommendation we found a local pub/restaurant in the residential area. We found the area to be very pleasant indeed and felt very safe despite walking out on foot after dark. On a separate evening we dined in Grimsby town centre and whilst we had a lovely time we didn't repeat this excursion as we did not feel quite so safe there.
The heritage centre is good and the history of the fishing industry very interesting. However the area by the docks has not been looked after and if the council spent money on it and turned it into a museum and tourist attraction, Grimsby would be worth a visit. My relatives live in Grimsby, if it wasn’t for them I don’t think I would come.
Grimsby is very underestimated. It has a lot of character especially round the harbour and excellent museum of fishing. People are very friendly. Some areas are sadly rather rundown but lots of history and a great base for humberside including hull, humber bridge and the lincolnshire wolds and coast
Interesting history, unfortunately high street has lost many of its shops, as have other towns. The fishing museum was excellent as was the Minster. We had dinner at the hotel as it was Sunday night. All areas of Grimsby within walking distance.
Once we’d checked in we went to our room but unfortunately it hadn’t been serviced. The receptionists were great and rectified it immediately, apologised profusely and immediately upgraded us to a superior room. The room was spotlessly clean, very quiet and had everything we needed. Lovely hotel within easy walking distance to the town
Room was clean. That's the only positive, last year when i stayed at hotel it was a lot better, this year was a complete joke. Not impressed. Will be staying elsewhere from now on. Its a shame as this hotel used to be good and in a good area for what I needed
The location was easy to find from the station/ town centre. There were plenty of blankets and cushions for extra comfort. The kitchen was perfect for cooking with all essentials.
Very convenient location for a family gathering in Grimsby. Quiet. Able to open the room window for fresh air (unlike some other new or modernised hotels)
