Clean and comfortable room with outside space. Great shower.
lovely homemade cookies in the room on arrival.
The staff are really friendly and professional and the food here is outstanding. Had dinner here but standard of food at breakfast was equally good.

The people of Halifax were lovely. It's a great town to wander around and the surrounding countryside is beautiful. We ate at La Luna, who found us a table on a really busy night and gave us great service. The Piece Hall is a great venue and the canal offers a lovely morning walk.

It was a pleasant stay, the room was good for the price, WiFi was excellent but there was a lot of stairs because there is no lift to upper floors, on booking.com there is a false information that there is no parking on site, but when we got there there was a parking across the road for hotel guest for £5 over nights, if this information was stated on the website I would of drive there instead of spending more money on trains,

Beautiful are of West Yorkshire lots of character and charm.
Beautiful are of West Yorkshire lots of character and charm. The Piece Hall is a spectacular piece of history and Architecture which, is being preserved by the trustees imaginative use of the grand space. Shopping, eateries, bars, seasonal events and entertainment. And, now it’s hosting some big name bands and doing really well. Lots of little market towns (Think - last of the summer wine) & historically rich in and around Halifax Town. Lots to do for entertainment if you visit

Supposed to be secured front door only access was a code provided but on arrival doors were open. On message to property they said they will get engineer out as no body as told them. That was not true as we met another guy staying at property and said he had told them several times.
Floor boards up in room letting in slugs and again told them and they said sorry and thanks for letting them know as first time this as happened, again not true as read other reviews.

Lots of empty shops a bit scruffy piece hall not too bad.
Lots of empty shops a bit scruffy piece hall not too bad. Found a really nice restaurant called Sapore excellent food and perfect service from the staff, would go back to Halifax just for the food in this restaurant.
1885 exceeded my expectations. I booked it as I was going to a gig at the piece hall in Halifax. The room was perfectly clean and comfortable. The staff really friendly and we had a meal in the pub that was very nice. Breakfast was excellent with really good sausages and homemade black pudding making up part of the full English. Had a lovely chat with one of the owners, Nathan, who clearly has a lot of passion and effort in his business. Will definitely book again if I come back to the area.
The staff were great and very chatty, willing to go out they're way to help. The location of the hotel was right in the centre of everything and a short walk away from the train station. If you are visiting shibden Hall this is a good location as you can either get the bus or take a walk for 20 minutes. The room I couldn't not fault very clean! I would reccomend this to anyone wanting to stay in Halifax!
Polly and Andrew own a beautiful cottage near Halifax. We went to one of the concerts at The Piece Hall, and the location is perfectl. All tastefully decorated, very clean and confy. They were very welcoming, kind and nice, making us feel like home! They offered us breakfast for some extra cost, and I will definitely recommend it! We'd definitely repeat.
Excellent location, next door to the piece hall and within walking distance to Halifax shops. Tea tray with biscuits provided in room. Free parking across the road from the hotel, our van was safe however the parking can't be called secure.
