We stayed in the centre of Halifax for 2 nights. It was very clean and tidy. Pubs were great, very good prices. Saturday night was busy, Sunday not so. The people were nice and friendly. Well worth a visit...
I have to declare an interest - I was born and raised in Halifax. However for anyone who doesn't know it the main thing is the wild scenery - get out walking on the moors: you might just meet Cathy and Heathcliff. Perhaps the Piece Hall is now finished?? The market hall is fantastic I never get tired of going in there. We always go to Albert Promenade and the nearby 'Moor' (like the town common). For the first time in my life we went inside the town hall - that's very interesting. An ideal weekend in Halifax would include a visit to the shay to see Halifax play (the rugby league team also play there) and the Thespians or local amateur operatic society which puts on musical etc at the 'Vic' - Victoria Theatre
A great location as a base to explore the wider area. Good transport links and a good range of facilities, restaurants and shops. There are a couple of early opening pubs in the centre that should be avoided and seem to bring the area down, however on the whole the town felt clean, safe and friendly. The covered indoor market and the piece hall are particular gems although the piece hall is currently under refurbishment. The Eureka Children's Museum by the railway station seems to be popular.
Halifax is a busy Yorkshire town with everything you could want in a Holiday Town. Local people were friendly and helpful and there was plenty of good shopping and nice restaurants. We can recommend La Luna in the arcade. Excellent. Helifax is a great base town when visiting Yorkshire
Lovely stone buildings, lovely Victorian Market. Great Thai and Russian cafes inside. Hebden Hall....... fantastic place to visit and a bargain at under £5 and extensive parkland surrounding it Sears Inn @ Paris Gates is a very old building in a hidden corner of Halifax. Quality beer and great homemade food on a fairly extensive menu. (wish it was my local!) The road system was a bind in the centre of town and took some getting used to.... lots of traffic lights
Halifax is a hidden gem. Really interesting places to visit - Dean Clough Mills complex especially with its fab cafe's bars, nightlife , theatre, art gallery and cookery school. Centre of town has lots of wonderful york stone buildings, plenty of high street names but also many individual shops. Halifax is Bronte-land, surrounded by gorgeous countryside. Dont know why it is undiscovered but you can certainly bag yourself a bargain holiday here. Maybe it wont be like that for long. I cant believe it will stay as a hidden beauty spot for long...maybe I shouldn't be writing this......

The staff, particularly Jake were wonderful. He went out of his way to accommodate our daughter who has a nut allergy & is on the autistic spectrum, even offering her somewhere quieter to eat. Nothing was too much trouble. The hotel was beautiful and hosted a wonderful wedding with great food. We stayed in a snug room & it was snug but it was very comfortable and the breakfast was fab with salmon & scrambled eggs or a full breakfast being some of the options. Again, Jake was fantastic!

Brilliant location, directly opposite the train station. This makes if very easy for trips out and about across the local area. Also, only a few minutes walk away from the bars and local attractions (square chapel is right next door) The rooms were very quiet considering the hotel is on a main road. The size of the room was great and there was lots of space. The bathroom was also great and the shower was brilliant. I would definitely stay here again.

Lovely friendly owners welcomed us when we arrived. Room was on the small side but had everything I needed and was fantastic value so still an excellent deal. Definitely recommend staying here. Going out the back of the hotel to walk the dog and there was a lovely walk along old fashioned cobbles so got a brilliant feel of the historic old Halifax. Definitely would go back there again. Thanks Pearl :)

You ask were the eggs fluffy? In general the breakfast is good however the eggs made my wife feel sick - I suspect they are made of some powder mix?? In general the hotel is 'very acceptable' we booked it because it's cheap: and it's just a short walk from the town centre. In fact for anyone arriving at Halifax railway station it's just a couple of minutes walk

Only just outside Halifax, but an amazingly quiet bit of countryside, with good walks and lovely views. Very comfortable hotel. Room a bit small, but nicely decorated. The staff were really good. Meals and breakfast excellent. Nice atmosphere in the bar and restaurant. Would strongly recommend.

All the staff was very helpful, very modern rooms, clean and tidy, although the 2 nights I stayed there they was a function on I did not here any noise from them due to sound proofing. I would recommend to family and friends and stay here again the next time I visit Halifax.

The atmosphere was excellent, just what we had expected to find in a historical/old building. It was easy to envision sitting there in the pub two or three hundred years ago,...eating, smoking, and having a good time. Food was plentiful, and the staff was friendly and accommodating. The atmosphere was just what we had anticipated.
