The Grade B1-listed Bishop’s Gate Hotel is positioned within the historic city walls of Derry City’s Cathedral Quarter. The staff were very nice & helpful .
The stylish Belfray Country Inn is set in countryside 3 miles from Londonderry city center. It has a bistro and a restaurant, as well as free parking. Great staff! We really enjoyed the restaurant, the food and service was excellent!
On the banks of the River Foyle, the modern 4-star Everglades Hotel has free on-site parking, a bar and an award-winning restaurant. It overlooks the rugged hills of County Donegal. This is a beautiful hotel with comfortable rooms and lounge area. The best part about it is the staff who are attentive, accommodating but most of all seemed genuinely interested in making sure guests are very well taken care of. Several people from our group were struck by the genuine friendliness and pleasantness of the reception staff, restaurant staff and service staff. We were also there for Easter lunch and were amazed at how beautiful the ballroom looked and the effort made to ensure that all guests had a wonderful experience. Easter eggs and toys for the kids, beautiful decor and food for the adults. The hotel has a wonderful welcoming atmosphere and we will most certainly be staying there again.
On the banks of the River Foyle, City Hotel has a fine restaurant, modern fitness center and free limited on-site parking. Spacious clean room, and the pool in the hotel was fantastic. I arrived after a very long drive and I was in the pool within 15 minutes of arriving in the hotel. Hotel staff were very helpful and friendly.
The 4-star Maldron Hotel Derry is located within Derry’s historic city walls, offering luxurious accommodations and easy access to the city’s theaters, restaurants and shops. Great location, comfortable room, lots of space, great view.

Derry is a city filled with a very rich and sobering history. We loved learning about the struggles they have overcome & the work that has been accomplished over many years for peace. We arrived early in the day and had a late check out the next day. We missed some shops because it was a Sunday! We walked the old city walls, toured the murals & walked across the peace bridge. It was fabulous!
We loved the city tour by Martin McCrossan. It was very informative and fun. I would strongly recommend the Martin McCrossan tour. Very affordable and great fun. The tower museum was very interesting and the food at the pubs very good. Derry is a city on the rise and well worth a visit. The surrounding countryside , county Donegal , was very beautiful.
Londonderry was a lovely, historic town very different from Belfast and WELL worth a visit! Townhouse #8 was THE perfect place to stay in terms of location. Lots of sites, and the people were friendly and very helpful. Be sure to take the Walking Tour (from the people in the yellow vests, I forget the name. it it is a family name.). The Tour is terrific and Shannon was the best guide I think I have every had! Certainly well worth the reasonable price, to give you an overview of the city and its history! Be warned though, do not get up early in Londonderry and expect to get a coffee or breakfast anywhere. Nothing opens till 11:00 at the very earliest!
Derry is a city that speaks to your heart! The peace created there should be an example for all the world to follow! I would recommend parking your car, and using local transportation. Once we did that - all was well!
The Free Derry Museum (founded by and many who run day-to-day operations are family of those killed on Bloody Sunday). The exhibits and artificats are powerful and do fine justice to an incredibly important part of this town (and country’s) difficult history. We also enjoyed wandering among the houses that displayed the Murals of The Troubles. Much more impactful in person. Make sure to wander the Walls of Derry and take a stroll across the Peace Bridge! The Derry Museum of History was very interesting and worth a couple of hours visit. Very close by is a great restaurant/pub: Dopey Dick’s brewpub. Great food and interesting craft beers. And the story of how they got the name is great craic! Other great eating places: Bentley Bar and The Gate Bistro.
Londonderry was one of the hardest cities to navigate in that we have encountered in our world travelling. Even by the standards of European cities, the road layout and traffic flows are “difficult” to deal with. There are many tiny roundabouts, and traffic calming measures, like road humps, which are not clearly identified and caught us off guard when driving at night. There were also road layout changes which did not appear on either Google or Apple maps, which caused us some consternation. The Peace Bridge was the highlight of Londonderry for us, though curiously the adjoining Peace Flame stemmed to have gone out. The Derry City Wall walk was also good. We used Londonderry as a base to visit the Giant’s Causeway, but in retrospect it was not a great choice for that, and a quieter rural place would probably been a better choice.

Just back yesterday the cottages are brilliant. It is a £6, ten minute taxi ride to the city centre. The accommodation is a spacious, modern two bedroom flat that is immaculately clean and very quiet, Karen, the owner, is helpful and nothing is a bother. For a city break it is a wee bit unusual but who wants to do usual. Stayed in Derry lots of times and this was the best ever.

Una was a great host. She helped with dinner reservations and options, shared the amazing history and culture differences of Derry/Londonderry and Northern Ireland. The breakfasts were excellent with lots of delicious options catered to each person's preference with ease.
